Posting XO vs. MXO

:) Boyohboy! Did I get lost! :D As simming is absolutely new to me (never simmed before I found this site, just a month ago), I got really mixed up over a basic:

 

Posting XO, Posting Executive Officer, means that the STSF official is NOT, repeat NOT, playing an executive officer role on the ship. The STSF official is doing the posting for the simm, and is in reserve to play any extra character.

 

MXO, Mission Executive Officer, means that the player is the in the simm as a character, playing the executive officer of the CO, the Commanding Officer.

 

So, I thought the Posting XO was the ship's executive. And I thought the MXO, me, had to answer to him/her. Boy, did I get lost. The MXO answers directly to the CO in the game. The Posting XO is not in the chain of command. Not an executive officer. He's posting which person gets what role. And he might play in the simm, but as a needed character, NOT as executive officer.

 

I should add, the STSF'ers saw I was lost. Helped me. Got me back on track. Forgave me!!! :D lol . And I was still able to enjoy the simm. I hope this definition helps someone. And if anyone can state it more clearly than I just did, please go right ahead!! I'm still too new at this to know how to write out the rules clearly! ::sigh:: :rolleyes: Lots of thanks to STSF Jorlis and STSF Jami !! :)

Ah, don't sweat it too much. I remember the academy sim when I played the MCO. Mission Commanding Officer. At the time, I didn't know what that was.. (I thought it meant Motor City Online, an on-line computer racing game). So, I sepent half the sim waiting for Fred (the CO) to respond. I didn't know the crew were taking orders from me. The Pandarians ended up blowing us up. :rolleyes: Sigh, that was terrible making a mistake like that, but.. what can do you? Maybe we'll have a chance to redeem ourselves some day, eh?

I've never had the honour/pestilence of being the MXO or MCO, and I can't imagine how I might respond in that situation :rolleyes:. But cheers to STSF for being forgiving, caring and trustful.

::snickers:: being the XO is always fun :rolleyes: but almost everytime i am the MCO or MXO the ship gets blown up ::snickers:: I think the record now is something like 12-5-1, so what that translates to is: Cadets if i am the XO or CO run for your lives, or get a better insurance policy :D

Well, there was one time I was MCO and ended up releaving one of my Chiefs from duty.

Hey there,

 

It can often be a confusing issue. Depending on the GMs and the players who are present, MCO/MXO may be available one week and not be there the next. Folks will automatically assume the GM is actually running the show (IC), but often times that's not the case. So, it's understandable you'd get confused a few times. :)

After consulting the legal office, such remarks can neither be confirmed nor denied. It should be noted the ratio of Academy vessels that fail to kill all aboard vs those who perish is currently 1:2,304. As a result, the STSF Administrators are considering requiring all persons have life insurance papers before boarding for an Academy mission. :)

For a dead-slow typer like me, XO was such a hard post! The first and only time i did it, I had people asking me things left right and centre, i wanted to run away and jump out an airlock!

Indeed, the Pandarians pretty much killed off almost everybody, so I don't feel so bad now. :) As for the avatar, I got it at this site

hmmm its been soooooooo long since my last academy sim....meh its been so long since i've been here anyways i remember my first academy sim i was the Co and i believe it was dac's first time officially as an stsf moderator anyways...i believe she plagued the ship and made it crash into this will be grousome she crashed a 7 million ton starship into my Xo which was on an away mission on a planet.....although thats if my memory serves me correctly..... :) :) anyways i better leave now before i get the ol swept off the stage gig!
