USS Manticore - Mondays 10 ET - Command Staff: Captain McFly, Kansas Kenickie

= USS MANTICORE BRIEFING #1295, STARDATE 52411.11 = starfleet

= Manticore helped to retrieve a prototype starship called the Prometheus from Romulans attempting to steal the technology. Along the way they suffered severe damage and took casualties. Unfortunately some of the ship's crew are just learning about this now. Unsatisfied by the answers he received, Lt Banks has enlisted the help of Lt Cmdr Annika Sorenson to confirm the report he got from the Captain. Annika then grouped up with Bren and Dr Tevek to perform a separate autopsy on Ortega's body. What they found is not what was in the report. Meanwhile, Faldek decided to look further into Ortega's whereabouts during the time she was seen alive. He discovered the records had been deleted and by someone he didn't expect. = starfleet

::speaking both for his autopsy notes, as well as for Annika and Bren's benefit:: No signs of the burns or head trauma that were mentioned in the initial autopsy notes. Injuries are not consistent with an engineering explosion...

::Looks over McFly's shoulder, reads the PADD::

+McFly+ Captain, we performed a... confirmatory autopsy on Ortega, and the autopsy report is clearly incorrect. Ortega wasn't killed in the blast. What am I forgetting, Doctor, Annika?

Of course, but, he's been so adamantly against the autopsy. Even now telling him the results, his first reaction is not displeasure that it was wrong, but displeasure that we, essentially, found out. No?

That's a good question, Captain, and I'm sure we can get you answers but they are sparse at the moment. Lt. Banks was absolutely adamant that something was wrong, and since it could be performed without delaying official business, scheduled treatments, etc. I signed off on it. And I own that decision completely, which is easy to say when one is right I admit.

::continuing examination of Ortega's heart:: Indeed. Mr. Banks' attitude towards his human crewmates tends to be one of ::pauses to choose right word::...skepticism.

As with most of the other cetaceans to be honest. But, he seemed to have respected Ens Ortega quite a lot.

Of course you can, but I hope you won't. The autopsy report from Dr. Orrak is fiction. The injuries reported are not present on Ortega's body, and the general timelines do not line up correctly.

Well, Lt Banks continued to be unsatisfied about the results and asked for a second opinion. It appears he was correct in doing so, as was everyone else involved. Your initial report of her cause of death seems to be entirely inaccurate. And in fact there appears to have been foul play involved. I need you to explain your faulty report.
