We last left off Jyl and Muuhi were in the shuttle and had gotten far enough away from the station to clear whatever is setting off all our alarms. They detected a ship holding in orbit above Aegis and some signal below the station.

We pick up just about there, with the shuttle heading up and we at the station looking down.

+Nijil+ We need to figure out a way to scan below the station without using the stations sensors or anything else that's getting blocked by these alert signals.

Let's see what passive sensors can find out...

+Captain+ Tremors. Seismic probes placed all around the station can give us a picture presuming the density alters the generated waves.

Not visual. Passive sensors show it's armed, but weapons aren't activated at the moment. Can't pin down anything of a known design.

+Nijil+ That's fine. As soon as you set those off, we're taking the station to yellow alert. But I don't want to trigger anything until then.

+sylf+ our lurking craft is armed, but weapons aren't activated. Not picking up any known design.

Niji did not teach me much about ship designs. Did not want to risk some kind of temporal alteration.

The computer would be about to recognize quite a variety.

+Jyl+ Understood. Keep a safe distance. If they contact you inform them there is a situation down here and to keep to their parking orbit. I'd rather not tip anyone off we suspect something.

:: The other engineers were placing the probes in all manner of locations. Each of them were getting closer to returning to the engineering room ::

I'm sure. So we stay nonthreatening.

This reminds me so much of Niji and I's trip from the remote lab to the homeworld. Even impulse speeds in our system took hours.

Definitely common to any sizable system.

ACTION: The ship scans the shuttle craft.

ACTION: The strange ship activates it's weapons and shields

Aye. Correct. I think that's the work.

+sylf+ other ship activated weapons and shields. I'd like to contact Athena and see if they are able to pick them up at all to identify.

+Jyl+ Take evasive but stay in sensor range. I'm coordinating things through the shuttles telemetry. And yes, see if Athena can assist.

+Nijil+ Are we getting readings from down there?

Evasives.

+Syl+ Yes we are. We are gaining resolution the longer we scan. Sending realtime scans to your display.

+Athena+ Kepler to Athena. Any info you can pick up on the other craft above us?

They don't recognize it either?

::puts the readings on the big screen::

::Sees several void spaces with connecting tunnels far below the station::

ACTION: Athena shifts it's orbit, heading towards the UFO

Athena:+Kepler+ Nothing we recognize.

ACTION: UFO fires several random shots at the shuttle then turns to break orbit.

Evading.

::sees the firing from the shuttle feed::

::turns to Tactical:: Fire.

Running. I'll bet they see Athena.

::notices the red alert:: Here we go.

ACTION: Ground based phasers shoot up towards the UFO. Several shots find their mark

Let's keep our distance.

ACTION: the signals triggering alerts across the station suddenly stop.

ACTION: UFO fires several shots now down onto Aegis. That impact with little damage on our shields.

I was going to say cat and mouse, but we brought the bear.

::sees the alerts:: Well that's something...

Heh.

:: Nijil checks the alert-less systems ::

+Syl+ The other alerts have stopped.

Do we chase?

+sylf+ Here still. Other orders? Athena is coming.

ACTION: UFO turning and moving out of orbit.

+Jyl+ Keep at a safe distance. Inform Athena to pursue at their discretion.

+sylf+ Acknowledged. :: passes info to Athena::

If you ask me, it was a test. But it may well be that they picked up something on the planet too.

+Mimi+ Work with science and start a full scan of whatever it is underneith us.

Oh, we'll have to see if anything is missing.

I mean that they may have sensed something here too.

ACTION: UFO jumps to warp

Aww.

ACTION: Athena turns and jumps to warp after them.

They know we will investigate. We didn't come out shooting. They know we're not afraid.

+Jyl+ Return to the station. We'll let them handle the ship. We've got the issue below to take care of ourselves.

+sylf+ on our way.

Well, no one was hurt.

But this just gave us more questions.

+COM+ All hands, the station will be remaining on Red Alert. Orbital contact has been cleared. Subterranean anomaly is still registered as an unknown threat. Repeat, station will remain on Red Alert. Captain out.

That's normal around here.

I'm comforted in that my creation is beyond even your technology.

+Ops+ The alerts have stopped and we have a good image of the underside of the base.

I think I agree.

+Nijil+ Get with medical and science. See if we can figure out what's down there and if we can transport there.

I mean the chance of any of our creation is unlikely in the extreme.

+Ops+ I think we will have to dig.
