= /\ = USS MANTICORE BRIEFING #1291, STARDATE 52410.14 = /\ =
Manticore has been sent in to investigate the disappearance of a
new prototype ship, the USS Prometheus, last seen near the edge of
the Alpha Quadrant. Upon arrival, they found debris from three
ships, two Federation and one Romulan. They also discovered how
the Romulans were able to get so close, with a new type of cloaking
device able to disguise themselves to sensors. Annika was able to
decipher the Prometheus' warp signature and they chased her down.
After ignoring Manticore's warnings, Prometheus unveiled her secret
weapon and promptly disabled Manticore's entire power system. While
repair teams scrambled to fix the ship, back up finally arrived in
the form of the USS Kieran and two more Defiant class ships. They
dropped off some support crews then continued the pursuit of the
stolen ship. Manticore tried to stay in contact but something was
attempting to block communications. That something ended up being
three Romulan Warbirds. The overwhelmed Kieran was soon helped by
two EMH programs who were able to retake the ship and use it against
the Romulans. Once on board, they discovered one of the EMH programs
was from the USS Voyager, a ship that disappeared 3 years ago.
Manticore sent the EMH back with renewed hope for the lost ship.
Turing their attention to the Romulans who stole the ship to begin
with, they reluctantly reveal the plan was done out of fear of the
Dominion. After a long discussion with his XO, McFly agrees to keep
the Romulan Commander in custody but to return the rest of the crew
in hopes of gaining the trust of the Romulan people that could one
day lead to an alliance.
