USS Excalibur - Sundays 10 ET - Command Staff: Cptn Swain, CdrMirandaHawthorne

Mission Briefing: After extensive testing, poking, & prodding, it has been determined that the Away Team is, indeed, duplicate copies of their Excalibur selves, though a few days older. Though there has been no decision on what will be done with the "duplicates", it was deemed safe enough to let the copies have a meet and greet. The "originals" have beamed down from the Excalibur and everyone is now in the same room.

Ens Reynolds> & $Ens Reynolds> ::Whispering to one another in what seemed to be a very serious discussion.::

::side eyes his assistant:: “Sometimes I worry about him…on a good day.” $ “I’m sure he’ll be fine.”

Ensign Ayers warily approaches Commander Stanton. "Uh, Commander, sir, are we sure this is a... good idea? I mean, the time cops, you know..."

Cdr Jalen Stanton & $Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::Both look at Ayers.:: I think there's little risk of polluting the timeline, don't you? ::Said at the same time. They look at each other and laugh.::

::both Chocoxes wheel around:: “Do not invoke the wrath of the whatever from high atop the thing!” $ “That was your first thought?” (edited)

Cdr Jalen Stanton> I'll take this... ::Nods to Ayers.:: What are your concerns, Ensign?

The Ens Reynoldses> ::Now going through the motions of some sort of secret handshake.::

$ ::looks back to Reynolds:: (m) “Well, if we weren’t concerned about timeline contamination before…”

:: Both Indauras consult with one another. ::

“Has anyone any idea as to what is going on here? How did this happen?”

Ayers> "I mean, isn't this still messing with the timeline, sir?"

The two Irenes are comparing notes on some alien potato they found a week ago.

$ Cdr Jalen Stanton> I don't think there's much messing that we can do, actually. We're only a few days older and only have information about what happened on this planet. Which apparently isn't happening at all now, so that future seems to be a moot point.

ACTION> Both sets of Indaura, Reynolds, & Irene suddenly experience a brief surge of pain in their bodies.

Reynoldses> ::Holding chest and head.:: Pain... a lot of pain, sir. ::Breathing.:: But it's gone now... just a jolt. ::They look at each other.:: You, too?

Regular Irene clutches her head, just like before. "Ah! Again?" $Irene> Doing the exact same, because of course. "Again? What do you mean again?"

“Again?”

$ Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::Looks disturbed.:: I experienced something similar earlier before ever beaming down to the planet. Rex, as well.

$ “Huh, interesting.”

$ Ens Reynolds> ::Rubs head.:: I didn't like that. What does it mean?

Ayers> Scrambles over to both Irenes with her tricorder out.

$ Cdr Jalen Stanton> Perhaps something in the universe doesn't agree with there being two of us in the timeline?

Irene> Looking over at Stanton. "I'm a xenobiologist, Ayers is the quantum mechanic."

“Well, it’s good that we have a quantum mechanic.”

ACTION> Ayers scans shows both Irenes "infected" with chroniton particles, with the "older" Irene showing higher levels that are decreasing and the "younger" Irene showing lower levels that are increasing.

Ayers> "I knew this was a bad idea..." She closes her tricorder and whips around back to face the commander. "We need to get them back apart, fast. There's chronitons flowing between them like heat transfer."

Both Irenes look intrigued.

“Ooh, that sounds exciting.”

Something about matter is not created nor destroyed, only changed?

$ Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::Head tilt.:: Is it the same with the others? ::Gestures.:: Scan us all while we're here.

Ayers> Explaining while she scrambles around with a tricorder to the others. "No... right now the chronitons are trying to equalize between them. Like if you've got two sandwiches, but one's hot, and one's cold. You want to keep the hot side hot and the cold side cold. You don't want a mushy mess of sandwiches that are room-temperature."

ACTION> Ayers scans shows the same with all of the other originals and duplicates, though the transfers are going at different rates.

$ “Guess the younger ones should transport back up?”

Irene> "Definitely." $Irene> "Definitely." Ayers> "Definitely."

“We all remember who’s who right?”

$ Rex> I tagged all of those on Excalibur before we ever left. ::Starts scanning.::

$ Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::Gives himself an apologetic look.:: We'll be in touch.

Irene> "Yeah, uh... full agreement." She backs toward the door.

Ens Reynoldes> ::Sigh, but part ways with one last fist bump.::

“Stop touching him.”

Ens Reynolds> What? There's no evidence that has anything to do with it. Yet.
