USS Manticore - Mondays 10 ET - Command Staff: Captain McFly, Kansas Kenickie

= USS MANTICORE BRIEFING #1289, STARDATE 52409.30 = starfleet

= Manticore has been sent in to investigate the disappearance of a new prototype ship, the USS Prometheus, last seen near the edge of the Alpha Quadrant. Upon arrival, they found debris from three ships, two Federation and one Romulan. They also discovered how the Romulans were able to get so close, with a new type of cloaking device able to disguise themselves to sensors. Annika was able to decipher the Prometheus' warp signature and they chased her down. After ignoring Manticore's warnings, Prometheus unveiled her secret weapon and promptly disabled Manticore's entire power system. While repair teams scrambled to fix the ship, back up finally arrived in the form of the USS Kieran and two more Defiant class ships. They dropped off some support crews then continued the pursuit of the stolen ship. Manticore tried to stay in contact but something was attempting to block communications. That something ended up being three Romulan Warbirds. The overwhelmed Kieran was soon helped by two EMH programs who were able to retake the ship and use it against the Romulans. Once on board, they discovered one of the EMH programs was from the USS Voyager, a ship that disappeared 3 years ago. = starfleet

Wish I could take all the credit on this one but our ass was kicked as soon as we found her. Kieran and the Doctor did most of the work.

Still, she's in one piece. That's going to go a long way with Command.

We could use the Manticore's sensors or the internal ones to scan this ship to ensure that it is indeed secure.

Some more detailed information the EMH wanted to give us on their exact last known coordinates.

+Faldek+ We've sent the EMH's file back through the comm relay. Hopefully, he'll make it back.

Let's keep an eye on those power readings, we won't know for sure if the EMH will make it all the way back but chances should be good he will since we're sending with full power.

I understand the Federation's restoration in vision is very good.

Lt JL Curtis> I think this can be done quicker at Spacedock sir. We are an understrength Engineering staff as is. We COULD do this. But I don't believe the Captain will allow us to dictate what the ship can or cannot do while we begin the fix.

The Tal Shiar, too, was dealt a massive blow by the Dominion. The last thing the Romulan Empire needs is a war with the Federation too.

The decimation of the Tal Shiar by the Dominion has scared all of Romulus in a way I've never seen before. The Dominion is too powerful, and they know it. We were desperate for... what do you call it?... A hail Mary. They felt they were out of options and Tal Shiar spies learned of the Prometheus, and so we were authorized to take it, by any means.
