USS Excalibur - Sundays 10 ET - Command Staff: Cptn Swain, CdrMirandaHawthorne

MISSION BRIEF: The away team has managed to connect the containment field surrounding the rift to the solar array. It is currently holding and the power levels are climbing. It was decided that in order to close the rift, the team must introduce anti-neutrinos, which primarily come from one place... nuclear energy. As we pick up, science and engineering is attempting to replicate a small amount of nuclear material without giving everyone radiation sickness or blowing things up.

"Alright folks, Uranium coming right up." William opens up the replicator's settings and bypasses the security system before queueing up the requested Uranium. "Ready?"

Irene> "Ready here." She's already got a containment device set up. "This will let us direct the emissions where we want them." (edited)

Rex> How many times are you going to get to build a nuclear device?

"Depends on the mission." Will presses the controls to activate the replicator.

ACTION> The Replicator does the magic and produces the desired uranium.

William deposits it into Irene’s device.

Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::Lets out the breath he'd been holding.:: Doctor... those innoculations?

Irene> "OK! Anyone have a screwdriver?" She closes up the door on the side and locks it closed. She connects some cabling to a nearby piece of equipment which looks like two long red neon tubes on a rolling cart covered in vacuformed plastic. "This thing will emit the particles we need when it's activated, along with a hell of a lot of radiation."

“That doesn’t sound ominous.”

Rex> Marine Mincine

Irene> "I mean, we're probably gonna need to run it for a while."

"No, no, that makes sense. Still ominous."

Cdr Jalen Stanton> Are you collecting anti-neutrinos with it? Or will we need to disable the containment field and put it in with the rift?

Irene> "Yeah, it's an anti-neutrino grenade, basically. It sucks up the anti-neutrinos and lets the gamma radiation pass through. The inside is a neutron reflector and..." She starts explaining it in far too much detail.

"Gotcha, should we get back to the rift?"

Irene> "Well it's gotta be there to work."

"You were rambling." William nods before walking back towards where the rift is.

Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::Follows Will.:: If we take the containment field down, will we be able to get it back in place?

"I certainly hope so."

Rex> Following along, wondering if space time flows differently or the same in this weird place

Irene pushes the cart along with them.

William walks back into where the rift is. "You ready Irene?"

Rex> Looks over to Irene If you make my pee glow... well that might actually be cool.

"Well then."

Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::Subtly covers his junk.::

She checks the containment device with her padd. "It's fully charged. Unless you're drinking uranium smoothies, your pee will be fine."

:: Uses her medicorder to make sure they are at safe levels ::

"Alright, Irene, on my mark, I'll bring down the containment field and you do your thing." William gets set up. "One...two...three!" He brings down the containment field.

ACTION> As soon as the containment field came down, the rift started lashing out and expanding. (everybody give me a # 1 - 20 )

Irene shoves the cart at the rift as soon as the field goes down.

ACTION> The rift snags the cart as soon as it within range and starts to suck it into the expanse. HOWEVER... Indaura is a hair too close and is struck by the cart as it careens into the containment field.

"Dr. Ryssan!"

Rex> Starts to react but he's too slow

Irene, having pushed the cart, is in no position to intervene.

William moves to pull Dr. Ryssan back.

:: Realizes too late regarding the cart and starts to fall ::

ACTION> The rift continues lashing out with tendrils of energy, expanding even more as it envelopes the cart completely.

(falling which way?)

:: Sees the cart disappear into the rift ::
