USS Manticore - Mondays 10 ET - Command Staff: Captain McFly, Kansas Kenickie

= USS MANTICORE BRIEFING #1266, STARDATE 52404.15 =

= Manticore had been destroyed. Two years later, the crew of the Manticore-B had been splintered. Kansas was reassigned off the ship to a new position guarding the Federation President. Faldek had been given a special assignment which lead to him and Gila going to Cardassia where they met up with an old friend, Edvenent. Manticore herself returned from a years long shakedown cruise and returned to Starbase -REDACTED- to be fitted with a new dorsal module. During a conference on the lunar colony, Kansas was able to thwart an assassination attempt on the President. This proved to be a distraction for the real mission, the theft of Manticore's dorsal module, a weapon known only as the Planet Killer. Manticore was sent after it but wound up running into a group of mercenaries they didn't expect and lost Captain McFly in the process. Kansas was then sent in separately to find the module and slowly uncovered a conspiracy involving high ranking Starfleet officers. Meanwhile, Faldek's mission was to track down a theft of a Federation weapon. After two years the mission seemed as if it may have been scrubbed but they soon learned that it was restarted and was much larger than original anticipated. Faldek discovered a new devastating Dominion Battleship. Gila learned select Jem'Hadar soldiers were being trained on Federation technology. And Edvenent found a connection between their mission and the theft of the PK. Kansas was able to track down the location of the module but found it had already been moved. However she did retrieve McFly. Faldek, Gila & Edvenent were instructed to stop the transfer of this large weapon only to discover the location given to them was wrong. Eventually, all parties found their way back to Manticore. And now, they discuss the best course of action to take with the module before its devastating power is used against them. = starfleet

::pipes up from the back of the room:: What are the odds they went to the effort of mounting the module on their shiny warship if they hadn't figured out what it is? And is that alone a bigger problem...

Well they have known about it for some time. Makes sense they might have it ready for install once they get it, or at least a theoretical understanding of how it works.

To put it bluntly, we are relying on engineering manuals for this repair job. Cloaking Devices are NOT taught at the Academy for obvious reasons.

Unfortunately, I cannot give you a precise calculation due to the myriad of factors involved that could effect your recovery. It will likely be several days. I and the other medical staff will, of course, provide you with more precise updates as soon as we have them.

No need to generate a large cloaking field when operating a shuttle. Even if we get these parts into place, I'm not sure if we can generate a cloaking field large enough to conceal Manticore.

For a mission like this we need better than good.

Before we get too far ahead of ourselves. While I am not the deciding factor, I will put the recommendation from Faldek in as the mutually agreed upon option. Whomever is in command, will make the final decision. I think we are all set here. Unless anyone else has comments or questions? (edited)

We could install a phase modulators around the shuttle's cloak core...to assist in handling the load.....sort of a " pacemaker" for the cloak. :: points at schematic ::

I've only ever taken a short tour of a Jem'Hadar attack ship, I would have no idea where to begin on a ship of this size.

I thought the headsets were for bridge operations, but what do I know.

Just how small is this cloaking device? I'm sure they could build some sort of resonator around it to amplify the field. The multiplication factor of said resonance would depend on the size of the device.

Ahhh....Sven have a look at these....these look like parts for a shuttle. I won't ask where they got them....but they are small.. Now I know why she asking about amplifiying the cloaking field the way she is.

Vat else are they hiding? Well, something like this could work..

We can at least install this device...here...in the larger one's place...with some simple modifications

It's the only logical reason to have such a large fleet there, they are protecting something. No other strategic reason to have such a fleet in that location.

If we can get in under cloak, we just need to sabotage the module. Nothing else. In and out. If we can do that, we might have a chance at this.
