MISSION BRIEFING: Excalibur is currently in orbit of the agricultural colony of Trakis III responding to a muddled distress call. Arriving, they have found the colony to be completely deserted. The AT has discovered the origin of the distress call, though it strangely appears to be placed sometime in the future. As we continue, the AT is searching for more clues.

Medical looking at records.

William looks at the records. "I'm not sure if the Celeste received any of the transmissions."

:: Reading and reading ::

Irene is still flipping through medical records. "There's nothing helpful here."

Rex> We can have Excalibur track the ship to see if there's any record of where it might have gone. Maybe they know something. Let's keep digging.

"Agreed."

+Rex+ "Mincine to Rex. I don't think I'm going to find anything else down here. What do you all want us to do next?"

Rex> ::Checks the floorplan:: +Mincine+ I'm showing the science administration suite is on one of the sublevels. Two, I think. See if you can find anything there.

+Rex+ "Let me download the structure layout..." She taps a few more buttons on the reception console. "OK, heading on down with Dr. Ryssan."

"There's a lot here, but little time."

9:34 PM

:: Gets ready to go with Mincine ::

Irene> "Do you want to stay here? I think it's better if we're both together, but..."

"I'd rather not be left alone if it is all the same to you."

ACTION> The power in the entire facility flickers slowly as something draws on the grid. Main power fails and they're all plunged into darkness.

William continues looking for an error. "I'm not seeing how this...well that's unfortunate."

Cdr Jalen Stanton> +All+ Power just went down in the office admin building. Are you experiencing the same?

+Stanton+ "Same here."

Rex> ::Activates his hand light, frowning at the dead consoles.::

"Well, I was just getting to the interesting part."

Irene> "OK, I can s--" She looks up at the lights when they flicker and go up, and all the consoles go out as well. Sighing, she turns on her tricorder's flashlight. "--nevermind, let's stay here and figure out what that was." +Stanton+ "Just went out here, too. I'm going to stay in medical and see if I can find some emergency power."

Rex> They have to have aux power, don't they? I'd think it would kick in automatically...

"We don't need power going out."

"That assumes the connections are connected.

Rex> It does. So where's their engineering? ::Looks at his tricorder::

"We definitely don't. But shouldn't emergency lights have come up? An installation this big should have backup power, right?" Irene's poking around with her tricorder-flashlight, looking for a power panel she can investigate.

Stanton> +Mincine+ We'll do the same up here. Let me know if you have any luck.

"Should be on the ground floor. If they built it to any sort of standards."

ACTION> As Irene and Indaura look about the dark medical facilities, they see sparks flaring low on one of the walls behind a junction panel.

9:51 PM

Rex> Let's see if we can get down there. We'll have to pry the doors open. I'll never understand why they don't have emergency disengage switches. ::grumbles::

"I believe in the engineering handbook it's under the section 'How to make Security Officers mad at us.' Chapter 33.5."

"I'd not say this facility is up to Starfleet standards. Do we remain here or proceed?"

"I told Commander Stanton we're staying here." She notices the sparking panel, scanning it with her tricorder. "Dr. Ryssan, over here. I might do something really stupid very shortly."

:: Clutching her kit :: "Alright .."

Rex> ::Chuckles:: I must have deleted that one from my copy. ::Moves to the door and begins to pry.::

Willam goes to the other side and pries it apart with Rex.

Irene grabs an insulated pry bar from her science kit and tries to remove the cover from the sparking junction box.

:: winces :: "Do be cafeful."

ACTION> The door takes some effort, but eventually Will & Rex pry it open enough to fit through. Irene's cover pops off far easier, revealing a faulty power node that is only halfway installed. It sparks now and then as the power arcs off the faulty connections.

She jumps back once the cover opens, seeing the sparking power node. She checks with her tricorder if the node is defective... "Well, that'll do it. No node, no power. It looks like it needs to be pushed back in, but it might have popped out because it's broken, and I'm fresh out of power nodes."

"Don't look at me. I'm a doctor not battery salesperson."

"After you sir."

Rex> Into the dark corridor where anything might be waiting? Thanks so much. ::smirks as he trades his tricorder for his phaser, sweeping the hall with his light::

(( Two minute warning ))

(( Irene -- give me a # from 1 to 10 ))

Willam follows after him shortly after. "I thought it was your job to go first."

Rex> ::snorts:: But sometimes a guy just wants to be taken care of.

"I'll install a massage chair in your quarters after this away mission."

ACTION> As Irene pushes the node back into place with her insulated tool, it clicks where it's supposed to be without any fuss. And she only receives a slight zap as a sliver of power arcs to her hand. The emergency lights in medical flicker on.

10:10 PM

Rex> Deal!

Her hand jerks back reflexively. "Ah, dammit!"
