::closes the tricorder and stows it away:: Well, mine is overheating. It shouldn't, but it is. It's hot but should still be within tolerances.

The Beacon shouldn't be too far.

Just a bit more - getting close according to my scans.

There it.... is. ::Sees the beacon, but it already has rock crystals growing on it::

Huh. Well, that's an interesting development.

"Why are you not with them?"

::pulls her tricorder back out, pops out the sensor coil::

Hmm... ::does a scan on the rock crystals::

For safety, we're going to need to consider that the beacons may fail.

::holds it up, seeing specs of something covering much of the coil::

It would be good to study the growths, see if there's some coating we could give the beacon that would discourage the growth.

What do you make of these crystals?

:: Hears of crystals, wonders if there is a resonance occurring ::

They seem to be highly energized. Like the beacon is acting like an accelerator for the growth.

(reminds me of Stargate and the Tok'Ra)

Okay, we're pulling out. If this is collecting on our gear, we could have life support failures.

Thanks everyone. We'll pick up next week having just transported back to the surface. We've collected all the beacons, the ones farther up had less growths but showed some signs.
