MISSION BRIEF: Excalibur has arrived at SB 218 where they are set to make repairs and, if the crew so chooses, get in some shoreleave in at a checks notes decidely M-Class planet the starbase orbits, before departing for SB 37-Tango. Fleet has effectively barred us from further investigating the Affair d'Mines

In his ready room, looking out the window at the starbase and the blue marble of a planet in the distance

William is down on the planet, enjoying some sun at the beach he conveniently found.

Rex> On the planet, drinking a beer at a bar overlooking the beach.

William looks over and sees Rex and decides to walk over.

Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::Rings the chimes at Swain's ready room.::

:: Getting ready to go down to the planet, another planet. ::

Drinking a cup of tea, continues to looking out the window

Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::Steps inside.:: Captain.

"Enjoying the beach, commander?"

Cdr Jalen Stanton> I have the report on our repairs. Most of the extensive list will be handled by the time we depart.

Rex> Its fine. Sand you know... it just gets.. everywhere. But the view is nice.

"Is the sand also coarse and rough?"

Nods, though he continued to drink his tea. Good.

Rex> Nods, drinks his beer Yeah.

"It's also nice and warm."

Rex> It is nice to relax a bit. Hopefully none of the juniors get into trounle.

Cdr Jalen Stanton> They aren't happy about it, but when are starbase engineers ever happy about us using their precious supplies. ::He paused.:: I trust Captain Corizon and his... ah... made their rendevous?

"Oh, you know someone will get in trouble. Possibly Mincine."

He took another drink. Yes, he left me a present. Points to the bottle of Alderan Whiskey.

Ens Reynolds> ::Already several drinks in at the beach bar and flirting (unsuccessfully) with a couple of cuties.::

Cdr Jalen Stanton> I suppose to make up for what he consumed while he was here? I had no idea he was a whisky hound... no pun intended.

I think the term is functional alcoholic.

Cdr Jalen Stanton> From what I've read... it was an interesting run.

Rex> How are repairs coming? Surprised you let someone else touch your engines.

"Repairs have been going well, and at this point there was too much work to be done to avoid letting other people poke around. I made sure to make offsite backups of my console settings though. And Reynolds'." William jerked a thumb at the Ensign's lackluster attempts at flirting.

Smirks Well, hopefully this is the last chaos we'll have to deal with for a while. I am hoping once we get back to Thirty-Seven we can catch a nice quiet patrol or a survey mission.

Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::Checks his data padd.:: Well, we can always hope... ::Though he obviously had his doubts.::

Rex> Gets another beer. So where do you think they'll send us next. Hell's heart? The Moons of Nibia? The Antares Maelstrom?

Rex> Tries to hide a smirk inside his mug

Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::Raises a brow and then grins.:: Not in the least. I enjoy the variety of challenges we're faced with, but then my background is security and not science.

Ens Reynolds> What? I just told her that her bikini looks nice on her, but it'd look even nicer on the floor of my quarters.

That's good to hear. I know I am not always the easiest Captain to work with, especially when I am being moody over my desire to be behind a telescope and not in the center seat.

William facepalms. "Good lord Reynolds."

Rex> Spits out his beer Man, they got holodeck programs you can use to work on those lines.

Cdr Jalen Stanton> I've worked with moodier, tell the truth. And more demanding. At least you're not a micromanager.

Ens Reynolds> What lines? I was just stating facts. ::Hiccups::

"Reynolds...I...I don't even know what to say. Was she flirting back at you at all in this scenario?"

Ens Reynolds> Was she? I don't know. How can you tell? She and her friend were giggling and whispering to each other a lot.

Asher smiled genuinely. I appreciate that. I suppose I should consider myself fortunate. I have an excellent ship, a great crew, and a husband who somehow tolerates me.

"How was she responding to any of your 'lines'?"

Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::Made a noise in his throat.:: That last one is certainly fortunate, especially when the two of you are apart so often.

Rex> Having cleaned up the beer.

Ens Reynolds> I mean... they were both laughing. I thought we were having a good time. ::Wipes water from his face.::

He nodded. He's certainly happy we're headed back to 37.

Bartender> ::Slides Rex another beer with a wink and smiles at Will.:: Get you somethin'?

William looks over. "Yeah, Andorian Ale please. And water for the Ensign here. I think he needs to surprise his liver."

Rex> Maybe we'll get a nice quiet mission next time. Something simple. Takes a drink

Cdr Jalen Stanton> Would the two of you like to join me for dinner when we return? I've got a new recipe I've been wanting to try out, and need some guinea pigs.

Smirks Of course. We'll bring the wine.

Bartender> ::Laughs and serves up the drinks before sliding off to tend to other patrons.::

Rex> Snorts into his mug again, but manages not to spit it out everywhere.

William pats Reynolds on the shoulder. "Good, good, make sure to drink that all up."

Cdr Jalen Stanton> Always a good idea. ::Smirks.:: So, will you be enjoying any down time while we're waiting for the repairs to conclude? I can hold down the fort if you wanted to visit the planet.

I appreciate the offer, but no. I am going to spend some time reading and catching up on a paper a friend asked me to review for him on Pulsar-Based Navigation in High Gamma Radiation Environments.

Rex> We can even bring Mincine along. Maybe that Clark from the bridge too. He's kind of cute... in a standoffish sort of way.

Ens Reynolds> Yea, I need another. ::Slams his drink down and plunks the glass on the bar.:: You know who I think is kinda cute? Mincine. I like her forehead.

Rex> I'll have to tell Ithene you're doing better. Takes a drink. We went to the academy together. She asked me to keep an eye on you.
