USS Excalibur - Sundays 10 ET - Command Staff: Cptn Swain, CdrMirandaHawthorne

MISSION BRIEF: Investigating missing mining shipments, Excalibur discovered the massacre of wild catting miners. Unsure of their next move, they were surprised when an advanced Romulan interceptor craft decloaked with the former commander of the Excalibur -- who more or less invited himself over -- aboard.

Rex> Glances up from his tactical console Well there hasn't been any phaser or disruptor fire in the ready room, yet.

"I'm not sure who I'd put hypothetical money on."

Irene> "Is there... security in there, or anything?"

Rex> Shrugs

Cdr Jalen Stanton> You're here for a reason. I assume that you already have an idea of what needs to happen. ::Eyeing Corizon:: You've infiltrated the operation, but don't wish to take it to your government?

"Isn't Commander Stanton's background Security?"

Irene> "I mean actual security, the ones who wore the red shirts 50 years ago."

"What, just so they can die suddenly?"

Vaener> Frowns, even more deeply than he had been the whole time. It is... complicated

Corizon> What Civet means is they asked for our help because about half the Galae are no longer trusted by the other half, because the Procounsul has spent the last year putting his people in key positions, and given that he's a Tal'Shiar slimeball. Drinks more whiskey

Cdr Jalen Stanton> More complicated than Starfleet getting involved in an off-the-books operation that could get our crew killed?

Irene> "It's better than the captain or Commander Stanton dying suddenly."

Matching Vaener's frown, Asher sighed deeply. I am nto particularly interested in getting involved in some sort of clandestine not-entirely-sanctioned mission. We were looking into missing mining equipment, not a intergalactic smuggling ring.

"We'd all be promoted just so long until they could get a new command team in here."

Irene> shrug "Commander Stanton being disintegrated is probably a good thing for career advancement on a Bird of Prey, it's a bad thing on something beginning with USS."

Corizon> His ears went flat in annoyance and he went to make another drink. So you don't care what things the Tal'Shiar might be getting into with a grip full of Merkocite.

ACTION> Alarms all over the bridge sound as two Romulan warbirds decloak firing shots at both the Excalibur which strike the unshielded ship in various important places and destroy the intercetpro.

Rex> Is thrown from the tactical console

Corizon> Practices hand at this and manages somehow not to spill his drink, but just barely. What the hell.

Val> "Two warbirds just decloaked, they're targeting, and firing!" She's secure, while Irene grabs her own console with a death grip.

Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::Staggers and catches himself on the wall, gritting his teeth. Rushes out onto the bridge.:: Report!

Follows onto the bridge, with Vaener and Corizon in tow

"Two warbirds decloaked, fired, and destroyed the other ship! Trying to raise shields!" William's fingers are flying over his console.

Rex> Pulling himself back up to the tactical console, bleeding a little from the forheads

Irene> "They appeared and opened fire before we had a chance to do anything, sir!" She looks hopping mad at their new Romulan friends, both on-board and on the viewer.

Rex> Two Norexan class warbirds.

Vaenaer> Walks over to sceen Those aren't Galae vessels.

"Oh, licensed out your designs to the Klingons again have you?"

Vaener> They're Tal'Shiar.

Cdr Jalen Stanton> What's our damage? :: To Will::

Rex> Frowns They're swining around for another pass.

Takes the center seat Bring us about. Hail them.

Clark> No response to our hails.

Val> Calm as can be. She has a lot of combat experience, after all. "Aye, sir. Evasive maneuvers...?"

"A whole lot in places we don't want it Commander. I have teams working, but we're hurting."

ACTION> The two wabirds fire salvos at the Excalibur and the array. The array takes direct hits, while the shots graze the Excalibur.

Irene> Going over the sensor readings. "Sir, they're focusing fire on the station, not on us. That thing's not gonna last much longer."

Rex> Permision to return fire?

Frowns Get us the hell out of here. We're no match for both of those ships.

"Injuries all over the ship."

ACTION> The station explodes in a brilliant fireball as the two warbirds come about for another pass on us. Focusing their fire on engines and shields.

ACTION> The warbirds volleys pummel out our ventral sheilds, but main systems remain on line.

"Shields down!"

Corizon> Grips the railings and looks at Swain

Val> "Executing escape course!" Over the incoming blasts. "Gonna keep the dorsal side facing them if I can, might get a little hairy..."

ACTION> There is just enough of an opening for Val to get the Excalibur in a postion to jump to warp and, at least for the moment safety.

Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::Gripping the armrest of his chair tightly as he scrolls through report after report of damage and casualties.::

Will rounds on the quad of people that came from the Ready Room. "What, and I cannot emphasize this enough, the hell was that?!"

That's an awfully bold move by the Tal'Shiar to attack a Federation starship in Federation space. Asher's voice was just on the verge of a shout

Vaenaer> I am as surprised as you are, Captain. He looked genuinely distressed

Val> Slides the ship through the station debris and gets them in a safe position to escape. "Going to warp! OK, we've got some distance between us and them."

Rex> They're not pursuing us, as far as I can tell but they could be cloaked.

Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::Glances at the Romulan, frowning.:: Apparently, they know what you've been up to and don't like it.

Set a course for the nearest Starbase.

"I'm going to have to get dirty on this Captain. I'll be down in Engineering."

"Does anyone here need medical attention?"

Corizon> Knocks back his drink. They certainly don't want us working together.

Val> "Aye." And the ship is headed for a starbase.

"What keen deductive skills you have." William says as he heads for the turbolift.

Irene> "I'm sorry, Captain. There was no warning."

Corizon> Are you sure they aren't pursuing us. He walked over to the tactical console. Those are high speed interceptors. They can out run you.

Vaenaer> The Tal'Shiar has access to the most... advanced of our cloaking technologies, I am afraid. But I agree with Captain Swain, it would be unwise even for the Tal'Shiar to risk a war with the Federation.

Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::Motions to Indaura and then to Rex.:: Our Security Chief is bleeding, Doctor.

Irene> "Doesn't take a tactician to tell we weren't their target."

Ens Reynolds> ::Heads pops up out of one of the sparking consoles, covered in soot and hair singed.:: Sir! Who attacked us?

:: Nods, goes to the chief ::

Rex> Frowns I am fine, but thanks.

"Romulans. Tal'Shiar apparently."

Corizon> Looking at the tactical console No sign of pursuit yet.

"Security can be the worst patients, second only to doctors."

William grabs his own engineering gear. "It looked bad up on the bridge. How bad is it down here? You're nearly on fire."

Ens Reynolds> Well, that explains the lack of warning. ::Wipes his forehead, smudging his face even more.:: We're in bad shape. I've overloads on nearly all decks. Our deflector array is badly damaged and offline. Shields are drained.

William swears loudly and forcefully. "Alright, let's get to it." William picks a project and gets to work.

Commander see if we can find the Sub-Commander and the Captain some quarters. Mister Clark, get me a secure channel to Command in my RR. Straightens his uniform Good work everyone, that could have been a lot worse.

Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::Glances to Swain and nods.::

Corizon> Lifts an ear at being not so ceremoniously told to leave the bridge With respect Captain, I think you'll want me on the call Commands. But your choice.

Irene> "They were hitting our comms and engines, they were going for the kill with the station and the interceptor."

Rex> Well, I'll try not to make it a habit.

Vaenaer> Walks over to Irene and the science console Were you able to get any detailed scans of the vessels.

Irene> "...sir?" Looking at the big chair to see if she should answer that.

Ens Reynolds> I know! But it's been this bad before. Just one thing at a time. ::Grunts as he tightens another node with his spanner. The console lights up and he stands to check it.::

Corizon> Joins Swain in the RR

Somehow there's a serial killer either on the planet or the station.
