USS Excalibur - Sundays 10 ET - Command Staff: Cptn Swain, CdrMirandaHawthorne

MISSION BRIEFING: Excalibur's crew have made notable progress on the various pieces of work they are doing on Xenex -- water pumping has begun without any hitches so far, and the biology teams have begun seeding small areas with new plant life. Looming over this, however, is the news from Lt. Commander Rex regarding the stolen equipment from the mine we visited before coming to Xenex. Swain has requested permission from Starfleet Command for Excalibur to be relieved of their operations on Xenex to pursue the matter further. As a result, both the science and engineering teams have been instructed to be prepared to withdrawl. The locals, and the engineering corps, are less than thrilled about this development but have not yet made any official complaints.

Irene is packing up some of the larger survey equipment with a bunch of blueshirts. "I was hoping we'd have longer to remain here..."

Ens Reynolds> ::They'd made some progress, but not enough for his liking. He was busy loading up for transport.::

William was loading things up too. “Always chasing something.”

On the bridge, drinking tea. He knew the locals would be less than thrilled with his desire to leave the system with the work only partially done, but he also wanted to solve the mystery of the mining equipment. If it was left in the hands of Fleet Intelligence... who knew when it would be resolved? And something, he couldn't say exactly what but something in his gut, told him this was important. Anything from Command?

It was a dumb question because obviously Clark or anyone else on the bridge would have told him if a message had came in for him, but he was anxious and anxious people ask stupid questions.

Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::Glances at Swain from his usual seat.:: Antsy?

Crunik> Frowns at Will. He'd done a good job of largely masking his annoyance with the Excalibur's commanding officer and trying to not let that effect his relationship with their engineering team who he'd found to be, shocklingly, competent for a bunch of fleeters.

“I’m not much happier about this Crunik.”

Ens Reynolds> ::sighs.:: Yea, it's just orders. We'd much rather finish a project. Leaving one unfinished gives me hives.

Val> "Expecting something, Cap?"

Drinks his tea and sits down in the command seat. This is why I liked commanding the Cassini. Two, three year missions where I didn't have to ask Command everytime I wanted to do something.

Crunik> Will and Reynolds Pumps are operating above expected efficency levels. We were worried whatver goop is on the bottom of the lake would start clogging the pipes. Frowns I guess it still could. Shame we might have to orient a whole new crew of engineers to this stuff.

Ens Reynolds> Well, the filtration is still operating pretty well. I'd just keep an eye on it and the secondary to keep that from happening.

Val> "Heard anything about why?" She responds sotto as well.

Irene> "OK, prep this set of equipment cases for transport up to cargo bay... 3." Pointing to a stack of black plastic tubs with yellow lids.

Ckarj> Frowns Not really. Terinos said he heard Rex got a tip on the mining stuff.

Cdr Jalen Stanton> We could always just go rogue. ::Smirks at his captain.::

I believe I am expliocitly banned from that for a while.

“Yeah, that’s the most likely failure point.”

Val> Whispering. "Is it that important? It's just a bunch of 50-year-old phaser drills and ore processors, isn't it?"

Clark> Shrugs

Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::Chuckles.:: Good point.

ACTION> Clark gets an incoming, coded message from Starfleet Command.

Clark> Captain, I have something for you from Command.

Ens Reynolds> ::Finishes with the last crate and gave it a smack.:: All done, Chief.

Looks to Jalen and motions to his RR I'll take it in the Ready Room. Jalen, let's see what Command has to say.

Val> Whispering once more to Clark. "You may have already won ten thousand bars of latinum, please insert your command access code here."

“Thanks Reynolds.” He extends a hand to Crunik. “I’m sorry I couldn’t be more useful.”

Crunik> I suppose I should have expected Fleet to cut and run sooner rather than later. Nothing against you Chocox, but you know how Redshirts are.

Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::Nods, and rises to follow him.::

William looks down at his uniform. “Did I spill some pasta sauce?”

Crunik> Smirks

:: working on computer models of the ailment plaguing these people. ::

Enters his RR and spins the monitor around so Jalen can watch too. He tapped in his security code and the spinning Delta was quickly replaced by a Caitian Admiral.

Chiza> Captain, Commander. The Caitian's expression was impenetrable. We've reviewed your request.

Crunik> You don't supposed, if you are ordered away, you could possibly "forget" to take some of your supplies with you?

William pushes some supplies of the transport. “Oops. So clumsy of me.”

Clark> Val I am going to guess we'll know soon enough. Message was pretty high level priority.

Ens Reynolds> ::Tilts his head at the transport wagon.:: This wagon is having mobility issues. I think it's broken. If we had more time I could fix it. I guess we'll have to leave all this here. ::Smacks the small stack of crates.::

Val> "Hope it's more fun than digging ditches..."

“Aw shucks.”

Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::Inclines head to the Admiral.::

Clark> Careful what you wish for.

:: Every so often she'd send processing requests back to her shop, allowing the processing power there to work on the problems ::

Nods to the Admiral. He'd never met her, but had heard of her at least. Sometimes he wondered just how many random Admirals starfleet had.

Chiza> I am afraid you won't like what our decision is on the subject, either. Again the Admiral remained placid Setting aside questions of just how you learned about this information, I am afraid that we do not believe this is a mission that Excalibur is best equipped to handle. She raised a paw before Swain or Jalen could protest. Rest assured that Starfleet is investigating further, but we don't believe this is something in your portfolio.

He couldn't help but frown

Chiza> However, we have dispatched the San Vincente to relieve Excalibur from her duties on Xenex. You are, once you’ve pulled your people back from Xenex, to get underway to the Galarin Cluster to take over from the Hood on a mapping of gaseous anomalies in the region.

Ens Reynolds> Good luck! Hope it goes well for you.

Val> "Yep, finally got a reply to his like fifty messages he sent to HQ."

Chiza> Smiles mirthlessly Yes Captain. It's along an important trade route so its important for navigation.

“Yes, good luck.”

Chiza> Any further questions, Captain?

Unlikely. But you know, if we happen to swing by the Dakaris system on the way to the Galaris Cluster.

We'll ignore that it's in the opposite direction.

Clark> looks over to Val for a second, then nods Yes, Commander. sends out the messages
