Sky Harbor Aegis | 20 August 2021

= /\ = Aegis Mission Brief 8/20/21 = /\ =
10 August 2388 - Stardate 2388.223
TBS is 15 hours. The time is 10:00 hours (10:00 am) Aegis Local.

A phenomenon is interfering with the creation of stable warp fields near Aegis.  Science vessels are on route for a more detailed investigation.
The warp field could be natural or artificial. The phenomenon could disrupt equipment that relies on sustained subspace fields.
The science ship Deke Slayton has arrived to assist.
So far, ships can still come and go.

Lts Jim Pine and Hank Slym have been released from medical.
The four men who tried to kill them are incarcerated.
Security is looking for their leader, Kakra.

mimipavilion: ::in medical::

Scott Coleridge: ::on the CnC, pondering::

CdrBrown: ::on the CnC, pouring over reports::

Chirakis: ::looking up at the time::: Anything I can assist you with, Number One?

Jylliene: ::CnC, ensuring relevant info is displayed - size of the phenomenon, safe approach vectors, etc.::

Scott Coleridge: ::Chirakis:: I am forming a thought.

Chirakis: ::head tilts:: Understood.

Chirakis: ::sits on the command chair as she continues to work::

Scott Coleridge: ::Chirakis:: I'm not sure how to put this delicately...

Nijil tr'Korjata: :: In main engineering watching the event on sensors ::

Cdr Wyatt Cayne: :: At his post on CnC ::

Chirakis: Proceed, Commander.

Cptn d'Ka: @ ::leans forward in his office:: d'Ka to Chirakis. Docking in bay A12. Permission to come aboard.

Chirakis: ::d'Ka:: Permission granted.

Scott Coleridge: ::Chirakis:: There's a possibility this might be your fault.

Nijil tr'Korjata: :: Did not sleep well the night before ::

Chirakis: :::swivels toward him::: Continue.

Scott Coleridge: Well, not your fault. But when you did that thing with hiding Aegis in subspace...

Tae'Lynn Dran: ::drops her PADD, then quickly tried to pick it up like something happened::

Dacia Sandero: ::in medical checking on things around sickbay::

CdrBrown: ::takes a swig of coffee from his mug, seeing the proposed approach vectors on the screen::

Chirakis: ::to Jylliene:: Missouri docking.

Nijil tr'Korjata: :: Sitting for once ::

Cptn d'Ka: ::exits the docking bay and makes his way toward CnC::

CdrBrown: ::projects out the new approach vectors based on 36 hours worth of advance of the anomaly::

Nijil tr'Korjata: :: Her image sat opposite of him, appearing to watch the display along with him ::

Alexis McFarland: ::relaxes and lounges about::

Chirakis: ::after thinking it over::: My office, Number One. :::turns to Brown:: You have the CONN. ::enters her office::

CdrBrown: ::nods:: yes ma'am. I have the CONN.

Scott Coleridge: ::follows Chirakis::

CdrBrown: ::Jylliane:: the approach vectors start shifting pretty dramatically in 36 hours. We may need to advise ships to widen their approach before that.

Chirakis: ::waiting for Scott, then closes the door and relaxes in a chair:: Explain, Commander.

Chirakis: Please.. sit.

Scott Coleridge: ::takes a seat:: I'm not sure yet. It's just a theory. I could be completely wrong.

Scott Coleridge: I was just thinking about what might have changed in the region recently that could account for this phenomenon.

Chirakis: ::Listening, concerned:::

Scott Coleridge: Moving Aegis into subspace must have been a very disruptive event. It's possible that triggered changes within subspace around us, and this could be a manifestation of that.

Scott Coleridge: Again, I'm just theorizing. We'd need more data. But it gives us something to test.

Chirakis: :::thinking through it:::

Chirakis: For "Moving Aegis into subspace" would be when I was pulled into subspace without knowing what was going to happen... besides die?

Scott Coleridge: Yes. Hence it not being your fault.

Scott Coleridge: I know you don't know much about the mechanics of what happened.

Chirakis: True.

Chirakis: In fact, I was waiting to die. However....

Chirakis: That is an interesting thought.

Cptn d'Ka: :::steps off the lift and notices that the captain is not there:::

CdrBrown: ::sees d'Ka exit on to the CnC:: Capt, she is in her office with Scott.

Cptn d'Ka: ::turning to Brown:: In her office?

CdrBrown: ::nods:: yes sir.

Cptn d'Ka: ::nod::: I'll meet her on the commerce deck, Commander.

CdrBrown: I will let her know you will be there when she emerges.

Cptn d'Ka: Thank you. ::as the lift closes::

Scott Coleridge: ::Chirakis:: Our next step would be to use this as a working theory to focus our investigation.

Chirakis: :::watching and listening:::

CdrBrown: ::stomach starts growling::

Jylliene: ::can almost hear that::

Cptn d'Ka: :::steps into Chez Antonio.::

CdrBrown: ::sees his stomach is soliciting reactions from the crew::

CdrBrown: I could really go for a burger from McDowell's back on earth....

Jylliene: The comfort of the familiar?

Chirakis: ::listening carefully:: ::leans forward::: A working theory.....

CdrBrown: ::Jylliene:: more tasty, almost over-salted meat and crisp veggies with sauce between two perfectly baked buns.....

Chirakis: I presume that will have nothing that I could work on. Correct?

Jylliene: Sounds like that would make one thirsty.

Jylliene: ::chuckles::

Chirakis: Meaning that I am not a theorist or investigator?

Jylliene: But you looked almost blissful recalling it.

Scott Coleridge: ::Chirakis:: I don't think so.

CdrBrown: ...wash it down with a soft drink... or, if and when their ice cream machine is actually working, a delicious shake.... ::ponders:: I think, after I retire, I will open a franchise out here.

Scott Coleridge: ::Chirakis:: I'll have science cross-reference what few sensor logs we have from when you hid Aegis, and we can request logs from the other ships that were present.

Scott Coleridge: Basically we're looking for any readings that might connect the two phenomena. If we can find a link, perhaps that will give us some more clues about how we can fix the problem.

Chirakis: ...and it might be fixable?

CdrBrown: they are delicious and very unhealthy. Brings back memories of my youth.

Scott Coleridge: Yes, if we can understand how this field is forming, we should be able to apply countermeasures to nullify it.

Chirakis: I see..

Jylliene: Unfortunately, those youthful indulgences are rarely as easily enjoyed in later life.

Chirakis: Very well, proceed. Allow me to help if need be.

CdrBrown: True. Especially hundreds of lightyears away from home.

Scott Coleridge: Thank you.

Scott Coleridge: ::stands:: I'll keep you apprised of our findings.

Chirakis: ::stands::

Jylliene: Very true there.

Chirakis: :::toward the door as it opens::: Thank you, Commander.

Jylliene: The replicators haven't quite been able to match it?

Scott Coleridge: ::returns to the CnC::

CdrBrown: Replicators can never truly match the real deal.

CdrBrown: ::sees Scott emerge::

Jylliene: ::nods in agreement::

CdrBrown: ::Waiting on the captain to emerge so he can inform her of her guest::

Chirakis: ::toward Brown::: I understand that you are hungry? Captain d'Ka is sending that to you...and do not ask how he knew.

CdrBrown: ::shakes his head:: my stomach does not appreciate the signaling. ::chuckles:: he is waiting for you on the commerce deck.

Chirakis: excellent. :::to Jylliene::: Call Dr Pavilion to Chez Antonio. ::to Brown:: You are still in command and I'm sure that you will enjoy whatever the captain sends you.

CdrBrown: ::light chuckle:: Yes ma'am.

Chirakis: =/\==/\=PAUSE SIM=/\==/\=

Chirakis: =/\==/\=PAUSE SIM=/\==/\=

Chirakis: All righty...

Chirakis: The time will be 4 PM on the same day.

Chirakis: Anything else, Number One?

Scott Coleridge: Nope

Chirakis: Questions or comments from the crew?

Chirakis: Very well...

Chirakis: Crew dismissed. Be well. Be Safe. Don’t forget your towel.
