USS Excalibur Sim Log - 11.08.20

MISSION BRIEF: The away team has been rigging a system using crystals on the planet to restart the yachts warp core, while also working repair the science team's communications array.  As we pick up, the team is preparing to attempt the restart.

Irene Mincine: :: Irene is at a monitoring station in the engineering room of the yacht. :: "Ready to go here."

Indaura Ryssan: Is this one of those events where it works or it goes so spectacularly wrong we won't even know it failed?

William Chocox: ::is in the Yacht, ready to try to restart:: That would be telling. Thank you Mincine, you ready Doc?

Cptn Swain: Rex> ::On the control center::

Irene Mincine: "It... shouldn't blow up, right?" :: Looking to Will. ::

William Chocox: Nothing should, but I do have a reputation. Fire in the hole! Fire in the hole! Fire in the hole! ::activates the restart::

Cptn Swain: ACTION> The Warp Core fires up properly after a brief delay.

William Chocox: ::watches as the restart works:: WHOO! ::composes himself:: I knew it was going to work.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Ens Reynolds> ::Had covered his ears in preparation, but when it fired up without exploding, he relaxed. Checks his data padd.:: Okay... looks like it is functioning normally...

Cptn Swain: Rex> ::Watches from the cockpit as the panels begin lighting back up::

Irene Mincine: :: Irene looks pretty happy once the warp core gets going. :: "All right! We can get out of here!"

Cptn Swain: Rex> Well that's a pleasant surprise.

William Chocox: ::wheels around to give Rex a glare:: Were you expecting something else sir?

Indaura Ryssan: I will feel better after we are in orbit.

Cptn Swain: Rex> ::Smirks::

Cptn Swain: Rex> Agreed. Ensign Mincine, take the helm.

Irene Mincine: :: Irene is taken a little aback. :: "You want me flying this thing, sir?" :: She leaves Valdar monitoring the station in engineering and heads off to the bridge section of the yacht. ::

Cptn Swain: Rex> You are qualified, yes?

Irene Mincine: :: She nods. :: "I have an emergency helm rating, yes, and this is an emergency..." :: She takes her seat at the helm console. ::

William Chocox: ::goes back to monitoring the warp core:: We're ready back here.

Cptn Swain: Rex> ::Reynolds:: Are all repairs to the science team's equipment completed?

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Ens Reynolds> ::Nods.:: Aye, sir. I left their comms functional with a self-sustaining power shield to keep the atmosphere from draining it again.

William Chocox: Thank goodness.

Cptn Swain: Rex> Good. ::Takes his seat:: Mister Mincine. Begin pre-fight.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Ens Reynolds> With their limitless supply of crystals, they shouldn't have any issues with shielding their other power systems.

Irene Mincine: :: She nods, punching in settings on the console. :: "Internal atmosphere... hydrogen pumps purged... antimatter injectors set... inertial dampeners configured for atmospheric flight..." :: It takes her a little longer than the average helmsman to go through the checklist. :: "And we are ready to get off this planet."

Cptn Swain: Rex> ::Nods:: Take us out.

Irene Mincine: "Gladly." :: The yacht begins to lift off, hopefully... ::

Cptn Swain: ACTION> The Yacht does lift off, and is soon headed off into space.

William Chocox: ::William settles into a seat in Engineering:: Do we have anymore ration packs?

Cptn Swain: Rex> Shouldn't the replicators be up and working soon?

Irene Mincine: :: Irene sighs in relief once they're finally in space and not going to crash back into the planet or fly into a mountain. :: "We're in orbit, Commander. Finally. Want me to set course for Excalibur?"

Indaura Ryssan: :: Sits and rests a bit ::

William Chocox: I like how they taste.

Cptn Swain: Rex> Weirdo. ::Shakes his head:: Yes, let's make our exit from the Neutral Zone as quick as possible.

Cptn Swain: Rex> Send a message ahead to Excalibur and update them on the situation.

William Chocox: On it. ::sends out a quick message so that the Excalibur can expect them to arrive::

Cptn Swain: Rex> Good work everyone.

Irene Mincine: "I can't stand those rations. I'd rather eat replicated gagh for breakfast than eat another one of those protein bars." :: She sets their course for Excalibur. :: "Course laid in."

Cptn Swain: Rex> Engage. Warp 5.

William Chocox: Isn't the point of gagh that you eat it alive?

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Ens Reynolds> ::He tossed one of his own rations to Will.:: You can have my, Commander. I don't eat much on away missions. I'm usually too nervous.

Irene Mincine: "Yes, and the replicator has some kind of ethical problem with that." :: She presses the 'go to warp' button on the helm console. ::

William Chocox: ::is beaned with the ration:: Oof! Thanks! And did this mission give you any reason to be nervous?

Cptn Swain: Rex> ::Smirks:: Well I think you can relax Reynolds.

Indaura Ryssan: Is there anything warm to drink in the rations?

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Ens Reynolds> Stuck on a planet with our power draining and the very real possibility of being stuck there forever? No... no worries at all. ::sighs.::

Irene Mincine: "They would have sent a rescue party eventually... and we'd have all the rations Will can eat."

Cptn Swain: Rex> You engineering boys need to get out more often.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Ens Reynolds> I can play yeoman. ::He unstrapped himself and began digging through the rations to find a drink for Indaura. Comes up with two packets.:: You want caffeine or no caffeine, Doctor?

William Chocox: That's what I said to Reynolds! That's why I dragged him along.

Irene Mincine: "You better not be giving away my freeze-dried raktajino, Reynolds."

Indaura Ryssan: Who do you take me for Reynolds? Caffeine please.

William Chocox: There are better coffees Irene.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Ens Reynolds> No, I think it is some sort of tea. ::Peers at the labels. Pops one of the bags for Indaura and hands it to her. The bag inflates and begins to warm in her hands. In a moment, she has a steaming mug of tea.::

Irene Mincine: "There are *not*. One cup and I'm wired for hours." :: She scoffs. ::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Ens Reynolds> I much prefer staying in boring engineering, sir. For the record. ::Glances to Rex and Irene.:: Anyone want anything else?

William Chocox: That's supposed to convince me?

Indaura Ryssan: A good tea is essential

Irene Mincine: "If you're working on a genetics experiment at 0300, it's great. I thought engineers would appreciate that." :: She shakes her head in response to Reynolds. :: "I'm fine."

Cptn Swain: Rex> I don't know about any of you, but I'll feel alot better once we've left the neutral zone.

William Chocox: That's not good for you Mincine.

Irene Mincine: "It got me to the helm of a captain's yacht, didn't it?" :: She checks on their current position. :: "Shouldn't be in the neutral zone for too much longer."

Cptn Swain: << Two Minute Warning >>

William Chocox: I don't know how to respond to that.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Ens Reynolds> Uh... how much longer are we in the neutral zone? Anyone feel like we're being watched? ::Sits at his station again to check the sensors.::

Indaura Ryssan: Don't we have permission to be here?

Irene Mincine: :: Irene laughs. :: "Of course we're being watched, we're in the neutral zone. Doesn't matter if we have permission to be here."

William Chocox: Romulans are always watching.
