Sky Harbor Aegis | 9 October 2020

= /\ = Aegis Mission Brief 10/9/20 = /\ =
= /\ = 20 June 2388 - Stardate 2388.172 = /\ =

TBS is 4 hours - the time is 1400 hours (2:00 pm) Aegis Local.
Two Pakleds have survived eating the plants.
A new strain of plants, vines, are growing on the walls of decks 187 and 188.
The vines' aroma is sweet and does not seem to be dangerous.
Those decks are quarantined for further investigation.
USS Rodman, USS Chi Song, and USS Agincourt remain in nebula 231.
A Starfleet Runabout has entered the nebula to search for them.

Jylliene: ::CnC, Ops::
Tae'Lynn Dran: ::in science lab::
mimipavilion: ::in medical::
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: :: Cayne is down with the vines :: Nobody think of eating these... :: scans the area ::
Amanda Davis PhD: ::finishing her report in medical:::
Chirakis: ::having just finished lunch, she enters the command lift:::
Scott Coleridge: ::on the CnC, thinking::
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: :: In the darkness so they don't grow too fast, but it just makes it hard to see ::
CdrBrown: ::exits his quarters, heading to the TL, having just showered after his workout::
Chirakis: ::the lift stops and she steps out, stops, then steps down:::
Nijil tr'Korjata: Can't I just have a station with normal technical issues? :: he said to no one in particular ::
CdrBrown: ::enters the TL and heads to the CnC::
Sierra Robinson: That would be my desire as well sir...:: working at a console near the 3D hologram of AEGIS ::
Chirakis: :::notes that everyone seems to be working on something:::
Amanda Davis PhD: ::flips over the PADD and exits her office moving toward Mimi:::
CdrBrown: ::exits on to the CnC, heads for his console::
Nijil tr'Korjata: :: Brings up a vector line only view of the levels with the vines ::
mimipavilion: ::in her office contemplating things::
Chirakis: :::staring at the main console, watching outgoing and incoming:::Everything is quiet... almost too quiet:::
CdrBrown: ::gets up to speed on vessel movement reports::
Amanda Davis PhD: :::knocks on Mimi's door:::
mimipavilion: ::comes to when she hears the knocking:: Enter
Chirakis: ::without looking at him:: Commander Brown, all seems well.
CdrBrown: ::still looking through the reports:: yes ma'am, all is well.
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: :: Getting a grasp of the extent of the expansion of the vines ::
Tae'Lynn Dran: ::filing a bunch of reports on the latest experiments::
Amanda Davis PhD: :::enters::: A long and sorrowful report, Dr Pavilion. ::sighs::
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: :: He thought of his own expansion and wondered if it was from the lattes each morning ::
mimipavilion: ::takes the report::
Sierra Robinson: Sir, should we take a look at the vine infestation on deck 188 to determine if it is threatening anything?
CdrBrown: ::grabs his padd with the area ops report and takes it to Chirakis:: Runabout reports entering the nebula, 5 minutes ago.
Nijil tr'Korjata: Robinson, I forgot to ask. Has there been any news of the lost ships?
Jylliene: ::puts the runabout's trajectory on screen::
mimipavilion: ::looks it over::
Chirakis: :::receives it and looks up at the screen:: Any word other than that?
Annisha: :: Wonders where her friends are ::
CdrBrown: None yet. we expect some interference, listening platforms were already re-positioned to improve comms as best we can.
Sierra Robinson: Uhm...:: transitions her thoughts :: I have not heard anything sir. Frankly I am not certain if I should ask about it. I thought maybe it would suggest, I want to leave the station.
Nijil tr'Korjata: :: Thought of the Yith shuttle he few in the distant past for a moment ::
Scott Coleridge: ::looks up at the screen at the runabout's trajectory::
Nijil tr'Korjata: I do not believe showing concern would indicate that. I don't know anyone on those ships and it troubles me.
Chirakis: ::as she flips through the log::: Difficult when it comes to a nebula. However... :::Hands it back::: Starfleet Command insists on handling it.
mimipavilion: ::shakes her head::
Chirakis: But we do have enough to handle on our own.
Sierra Robinson: I kind of would like to look for her....The Chi Song, to find out what happened.
Chirakis: :::steps toward Scott, then stops and looks around, sniffing the air:::
CdrBrown: ::nods:: that we do. however, other than that, no change in the status on board since the earlier update
Scott Coleridge: Something the matter, Captain?
Nijil tr'Korjata: This station can feel like a target in this sector. The largest facility that I know of... though I have not explored it all.
Jylliene: ::watching the monitor::
Sierra Robinson: Given the current situation of plants gone wild on Aegis, I do not think I would be able to contribute to the search.
Chirakis: I am not sure... :::sniffs the air::::
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: :: Securing areas he did not want the vines to enter ::
CdrBrown: ::back at his console::
Jylliene: ::pondering the idea of a second monitor. Something that could be raised or lowered from the rear of the console::
Jylliene: ::wonders if that's how it started with Jorahl.::
Chirakis: :::Scott::: Has there been a cleaning recently, one that has the scent of a beautiful flower?
Scott Coleridge: Not that I know of... ::sniffs:: I don’t… huh, maybe it smells differently.
Sierra Robinson: :: adjusts her mask ::
Scott Coleridge: I can check the environmental systems again.
Chirakis: Please do.
mimipavilion: ::Amanda:: This is... not good at all.
Amanda Davis PhD: :::finally able to speak::: I need a stiff drink, Mimi. And I mean a really stiff drink.
mimipavilion: ::looks at Amanda:: I know the feeling.
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: :: Checks his mask so the smell of the vines is not...intoxicating? He could not exactly place the word, but he sure was not going to be ended by some sprawling plant ::
Chirakis: It reminds me of the flowers on Ginera IV,
Nijil tr'Korjata: :: Looking over forms of gas or radiation that could alter the vine. He thought of the human word 'wine' and wish he had a glass ::
Amanda Davis PhD: I don't suppose they would mind if we took a break at Drankum's.
Sierra Robinson: Scrubbers are running high again sir. Thank goodness my mask prevents me from smelling that stink again.
mimipavilion: ::smirks:: I think they would be displeased that the CMO and Head Counselor are drunk on duty.
Chirakis: ::Scott:: Who is below decks, working on the vines?
Nijil tr'Korjata: Yeah. This would have wreaked me when I was a Yith. :: turns to her :: I could smell fear.... lying... it was really mind-bending.
mimipavilion: ::sniffs the air:: Do you smell that?
Amanda Davis PhD: Oh, my yes. Very potent.
Amanda Davis PhD: But... alluring?
Scott Coleridge: ::Chirakis:: We have two engineering teams down there, I believe.
Sierra Robinson: The smell of fear...interesting.
Chirakis: :::flips out her tablet to check a few things:::
Tae'Lynn Dran: ::requesting fresh samples as she preps the lab for another round of experiments::
Sierra Robinson: :: decides to add a graphic on wear the scrubbers are being taxed the most, this time on 188 it shows ::
mimipavilion: ::pulls up the environmental controls and sees that the scrubbers are working over time then pulls up a scan of what is in the air::
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: :: Despite his protective gear, the molecules that made up the smell from the vine still entered his nose. The aroma contained hints of licorice, cinnamon? ::
Chirakis: Commander, take the con. I'm going down to have a look.
Scott Coleridge: Aye, sir.
Jylliene: ::pleasenotmoreplants::
Nijil tr'Korjata: :: Nijil now regretted getting Jy a new plant for their home ::
mimipavilion: ::Amanda:: Apparently there is an unknown substance that is in the air.
Amanda Davis PhD: Almost like someone spilled a perfume bottle?
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: :: As his mind wandered and wondered of the scents expelled from the vines, Cayne felt something soft brush across his face ::
Sierra Robinson: Peter Pakled>:: Begins working on his Marigolds which do not smell as nice ::
mimipavilion: Something like that.
CdrBrown: ::goes to grab a black coffee from the replicator::
Chirakis: :::enters the lift:: Deck 188.
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: Ahh! :: swipes with the back of his hand :: Bugs now?
Chirakis: ::to lift::: Negate that last. Deck 187.
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: :: He became alert and noticed he had drifted toward the vines....right? ::
Nijil tr'Korjata: Oh yeah. I only experienced a few times...dozen at most.
Nijil tr'Korjata: Our systems are being taxed so much... ugh.
Chirakis: ::::steps off, gears up, and steps onto the deck to see the vines and flowers:::
Sierra Robinson: :: notes the scrubber spike in 187-8 area :: Sir...is this a bad reading? Should I check the sensors down there?
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: I feel surrounded... Ugh
CdrBrown: ::drinks his coffee and runs sensor scans::
Chirakis: :::comes up behind Cayne:: Commander.
Amanda Davis PhD: Let's just go for a drink, shall we?
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: I thought I would take up gardening Captain, then gardening took up me.
Amanda Davis PhD: I mean... not necessarily liquor, but something that will perk us up?
Nijil tr'Korjata: :: Looks :: If you wish to go down sure, but we could lower a bulkhead to seal off that section.
mimipavilion: Ok ::tells one of the other doctors on duty that they are in charge for a bit::
Sierra Robinson: I suppose if they need us they would COMM us.
Chirakis: ::Cayne::: What exactly is... it... doing... ::one flower sweeps along her face:::
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: The rate of growth is somewhat slow if you are staring at it, but turn your back for a few moments and you...doing?
Chirakis: Hm....
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: I had one brush up against me. I hope this is not how the plant propagates.
Amanda Davis PhD: :::exits with Mimi:::
CdrBrown: ((Cdr Cayne... Plant-person))
Sierra Robinson: Bulkhead....:: taps a button and zooms a 3 D map of the ....presumed...infested area :: Never thought of that...would this plant die without air?
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: ((Bird Person taken))
Chirakis: I don't believe so.... :::she steps closer and watches this particular bloom:::
Nijil tr'Korjata: You mean starve it? I suppose so... frankly you could also explore the decks to the vacuum of space and the cold. Guess freezing it is an option.
Chirakis: :::the bloom nods and does not sweep:::
Tae'Lynn Dran: ::scheduling workplace sensitivity training for the plants, focusing on personal space and touching::
Sierra Robinson: oh yes...that too...options..
Amanda Davis PhD: :::steps out of the lift::: Drankum's?
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: The aromas are all over the place... cinnamon here, citrus there.
Sierra Robinson: ( Hope that is not the Invid Flower of Life... )
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: It's making sure you can always smell it.
mimipavilion: ::shakes her head:: Let's try the little bar and grill right there.
Chirakis: :::watching the bloom::: There must be a reason. Has it done anything dangerous?
mimipavilion: They might have something other than alcohol
Jylliene: :: if she did a second monitor that way, perhaps a third could be beside it::
Amanda Davis PhD: I would hope so. How about Irish coffee?
mimipavilion: Okay
Chirakis: :::reaches her hand toward the flower, fingers splayed, standing still::::
Chirakis: :::all the flowers stop, and one reaches out to touch her hand, placing it precisely onto hers:::
Chirakis: :: Cayne::: Interesting.
CdrBrown: ::turns to Scott:: Runabout position report came in. Signal consistency is 72%, still no sight of the Agincourt and company.
Chirakis: What do you suppose this means?
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: :: thinks :: Rudimentary intelligence?
Amanda Davis PhD: :::finds her favorite table and asks for an Irish coffee:::
Chirakis: Possible.
Scott Coleridge: ::Brown:: Thank you. I wonder what they're going to find in there.
CdrBrown: ::Scott:: hopefully 3 ships with everyone ok, just in need of a tow out...
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: :: Looks at the flower :: I'm security and not a science officer. So are there intelligent plants?
mimipavilion: ::takes a seat and orders the same::
Chirakis: I do not see why there could not be.
Chirakis: ::drops her hand, the flower bows slightly, and enhances the bloom::
Sierra Robinson: Peter Pakled > :: waves at children nearby who scurry away in a hurry ::
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: I'll have to ask someone like Tarisa.
Chirakis: Commander, the vines have not attacked, nor have they grown into a jungle of sorts.
Chirakis: That in itself is interesting.
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: Is it exploring?
Chirakis: I agree. Have Commander Tarisa take a look.
Chirakis: Possibly.
Amanda Davis PhD: :::relaxing with a smooth Irish coffee in her hand::: I hope we'll be past this situation soon.
mimipavilion: Me too.

Chirakis: =/\==/\=PAUSE SIM=/\==/\=
Chirakis: =/\==/\=PAUSE SIM=/\==/\=

Chirakis: Thank you
Chirakis: Very interesting.
Chirakis: TBS will be noon the next day. In the meantime, we will be wondering what these plants are doing and how they work.
Chirakis: Commander Coleridge, comments?
Scott Coleridge: Nope
Chirakis: Questions or comments from the crew?
Chirakis: Crew dismissed. Be well. Be Safe. Don’t forget your towel.
