Cdr Miranda Hawthorne

USS Excalibur Sim Log - 06.30.19

MISSION BRIEF: Excalibur has found herself lost in time, again. And now with two Irene's which seems problematic. At least we got a little closer to home, but we may have also changed that future by accidentally ruining the planet we had formerly been based on. Oopsies.

Hakran K'hal: ::in the science lab, hitting yet another stimulant while he tries to figure out wtf, wtf and wtf::

Irene Mincine: :: Red Irene is lounging on one of the biobeds in sick bay, nagging orderlies every few minutes asking if she can leave yet. Blue Irene is off in the decontamination chamber getting de-radiationed. Neither one's having much fun at the moment. ::

Indaura Ryssan: :: to Blue :: How are you doing in there?

William Chocox: ::is working in Engineering and it appears that he's trying to rub a hole through his temples with his fingers::

Irene Mincine: :: Blue Irene mumbles something to the effect of :: "Alive, I guess."

Rhan K'hal: ::returns to the bridge, scowling::

Rhan K'hal: ::looks to see who's in the comfy chair::

Indaura Ryssan: :: Shrugs :: Sounds good. Let us know if it gets too much for you :":

Maryse Dubois: ::Still checking on Red Irene.::

Hakran K'hal: ::lets out a string of profanity that would do his younger brother proud:: This might make sense if we had any sensor data. AT. ALL. I'm about ready to blame it on magic and call it a day. Or better yet, night, as I've been awake the last 4 of those.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::Miranda had finally pulled herself out of the depths of despair and jumped into repair mode. Her fingers flew over the console, flinging orders about as issue after issue continued to pop up.::

Irene Mincine: :: Red Irene's readings are normal. A pass through the decontamination shower and a change of uniform was good enough to get her cleaned up and she's not injured, anyway. Scanning shows her quantum flux to be the exact opposite of Blue Irene. Red is getting pretty antsy. :: Red> "I've been here for 45 minutes and I'm fine, okay?"

William Chocox: Ok, just focus on the task at hand. Peg A into Hole B and so on and so forth. Little things add up to big things.

Cptn Swain: Issaha> ::smirks::

Maryse Dubois: Captain said to rest, and that's what you are going to do.

Rhan K'hal: ::steps up to his console, crosses his fingers, and engages the cross-link between the ship's computer and the captain's yacht, as it was still set up for that and the Excal's computer is in even worse shape than it was before::

Cptn Swain: ::On the bridge at the science stations, looking through sensor readings::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She groaned.:: You're giving *me* a pep talk?

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Or are you trying to talk yourself into not having a nervous breakdown?

Irene Mincine: Red> "Can you at least release me to my quarters? Why do I need to rest here?" :: She pouted. Meanwhile, an orderly came up and explained what was going on with Blue Irene: She was doing okay for now and decontamination was proceeding, but the extreme radiation exposure had screwed up her blood production, so she was going to get worse from here without treatment. ::

Maryse Dubois: ::Nods to the orderly, then turn to Red.:: You were told not to leave sickbay, that's why. Stay put. :;Goes to check on Blue.::

Hakran K'hal: ::gets up and paces, chugging down a bottle of water as the stims are as bad as straight caffeine as a antidiuretic::

William Chocox: ::turns to Commander Hawthorne:: Was that my out loud voice?

Hakran K'hal: Okay. ::tosses the bottle away unceremoniously:: What DO we know? ::turns to Issaha::

Irene Mincine: :: Red Irene went back to pouting when Maryse left. Blue Irene was looking in pretty rough shape but she was awake, at least. :: Blue> (weakly) "Hey, Doc. Did we make it home?"

Indaura Ryssan: :: up to Red :: Perhaps a book to read?

Maryse Dubois: ::Looks over Blue.:: Honestly? I don't know. :;Scanning.:: But we're figuring out what happened. How do you feel?

Rhan K'hal: ::reviews the status of the uplink, and then initiates the slow process of transferring over processing duties that require faster and more reliable computations while leaving the dumb programs on the Excal side::

Irene Mincine: Red> "Not unless it's about great escape attempts..." :: Blue Irene dramatically coughed. :: Blue> "Like I did something really dumb that I'm going to be paying for for a while." :: She feigned a smile. The scan results showed that she was slowly getting worse. ::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She snorted.:: Yes, Chocox. ::Sighing as her console shorted out, she gave it a whack.:: Whatever it is they were playing with in there, it's wreaking havoc on our systems.

William Chocox: Indeed. I've almost come to the conclusion that we need an entirely new starship.

Cptn Swain: Issaha> Not much.

Maryse Dubois: ::Hiding her frown. She then gives Blue a hypo.:: I have an idea for a more permanent fix, but this will help for now.

Hakran K'hal: Kenet Izal> That pretty much sums it up, Chief.

Maryse Dubois: I'll be in my office, looking up the solution. Indaura will keep you company, so ask her for anything, ok?

Cptn Swain: Issaha> From what I can make of the sensor readings, it appears that there was a much higher degree of gamma radiation than we anticipated. The hull glue we patched the ship up with seems to have reacted even more strong to it that in our simulations.

Irene Mincine: Blue> "Thanks." :: She closed her eyes. :: "My instincts took over. I had to stay at the console, even if it killed me." :: Her breathing got steadier with the hypo and her vitals improved. :: "Gotcha."

Hakran K'hal: :: LTJG Dansh Brasunch, the stout Tellarite female that usually doesn't leave astrometrics without a phaser pointed at her head but was persuaded to join the lab conference, nods in agreement ::

Irene Mincine: :: Also, the bridge turbolift door opened and Valerie Carillon quietly took the helm chair... in the background of one of the bridge scenes. ::

Hakran K'hal: Great. So besides temporally melting a planet and halting our progress to 2388 halfway, it also melted our glue::

Cptn Swain: Issaha> Now what produced all that extra gamma radiation is what I absolutely don't understand.

Maryse Dubois: ::Smiles as she goes into her office, sealing the door. She then take a seat at her desk.:: +Miranda+ Dubois to Hawthorne. Commander, I don't suppose you have time to come up to sickbay?

Hakran K'hal: The only thing I can think of, and we'll need to interview our 2nd Irene for this, is if they were also trying to do what we were doing and both ships' radiation combined... ::shrugs::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Don't say that. I mean... don't say that out loud.

William Chocox: Aye ma'am.

Indaura Ryssan: :: Looks at Blue :: I hope we cannot keep you two here for long, but this is a bit of uncharted territory, medically speaking

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::Leaning back in her chair, she tapped her comm.:: +Maryse+ Of course, Doctor. I'll be right there.

Maryse Dubois: +Miranda+ Good. Please come to my office when you get here, and I'll explain things.

Rhan K'hal: ::gets the computer situation juggled to some degree of satisfaction, sighs and grunts::

Cptn Swain: It's possible.

Cptn Swain: Issaha>*

Irene Mincine: :: Red> Looks up at Indaura. :: Red> "Hmm? You got another patient here? Then *why am I here*?"

Maryse Dubois: ::Pulls up a couple files on her desk computer, looking at possible remedies to gamma radiation exposure.::

Indaura Ryssan: :: gives her a look :: Because it is necessary.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::Pushing back from her desk, she rose with a groan and stretched. Her joints ached from sitting in one position for too long.:: I'll be back soon, Chocox. I'd tell you not to blow up the ship in my absence, but at this point, that might be an improvement.

Hakran K'hal: I suppose I'd better do that, because I can't keep staring at the same damn data for another 10 hours.

Irene Mincine: Red> :: Sighs. :: "I'm not getting anywhere with you two. You're too good at your jobs."

Cptn Swain: Issaha> I am going to put a probe together to get a better scan of the planet, with your permission of course

William Chocox: At this rate blowing up the EPS system might be our best option.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Right. I'll talk to the Captain about that. ::She smirked and headed for the lift, taking it up to medical.::

Hakran K'hal: Permission granted. ::huffs out a breath:: See if you guys can scrape anything else out, and I'll be in sickbay trying to figure out why we have two biology section heads, and if it has anything to do with what happened.

Indaura Ryssan: Training... plus, if something happened to either of you think of our reputation as doctors...

Hakran K'hal: ::grabs another bottle of water and stalks out of the lab::

William Chocox: ::keeps working::

Irene Mincine: Red> "It's not Issaha, is it?" :: She blushes. :: "'Cause, if it is, I won't mind staying here a while longer."

Cptn Swain: ::Asher frowned:: When we get back to our own time. The first thing I am doing is taking a long, hot bath.

Rhan K'hal: ::looks over to the Captain:: I'm going to one up you, I'm going to have a giant roast beef sandwich AND a long, hot bath.

Rhan K'hal: And yes, at the same time.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::Stepping off the lift, she strode down the hall and into medical, searching for Maryse.::

Cptn Swain: That's fair.

Maryse Dubois: ::Tapping at her desk as she looks at a promising option.::

Indaura Ryssan: :: Scanning Red ::

Hakran K'hal: ::enters a lift, orders it to sickbay, and slumps head first into the wall, taking the moment of solitude to acknowledge every molecule being exhausted::

Cptn Swain: I suppose if we end up stuck in this time period, we could all have hot bathes.

Cptn Swain: Separately of course.

Rhan K'hal: ::thinks that depends very much on many factors, but for once isn't going to be the vocal pessimist::

Irene Mincine: :: Red was flushing, slightly increased heart rate, etc, when she mentioned Issaha. She spotted the door opening. :: Red> "Captain Hawthorne! Come to visit your favorite prisoner? ::

Maryse Dubois: ::Looks out the window, seeing Miranda. Waves her towards the office.::

Hakran K'hal: ::straightens as the lift stops and disgorges him on deck 11::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She paused in front of the other Irene, brow arching. Captain?:: Prisoner? You just keep doing what they tell you to, Mincine.

Hakran K'hal: ::enters sickbay::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::Striding on through, she joined Maryse in her office.:: You have updates for me?

Hakran K'hal: ::notes Miranda going into Maryse's office, so looks for Indaura::

Irene Mincine: :: Red sighed, then watched the door open again. She blinked a few times. :: "OK. Scan me with that thing again, because I *know* he's dead."

Hakran K'hal: ::heard that, looks over, flips an ear::

Indaura Ryssan: :: shrugs :: Sure thing. :: scans again ::

Maryse Dubois: ::Nods.:: As you may have seen we have a Tactical Officer Mincine that seems to be a bit time displaced. A time where apparently you are Captain.

Cptn Swain: ::Feels disturbance in the force::

Maryse Dubois: ::Motions for Hakran to join them.::

Hakran K'hal: :: catches Maryse's motion out of the corner of his eye, heads over and enters her office, comments dryly:: Glad to know somewhere I'm as dead as I feel.

Hakran K'hal: ::looks horrible, to the trained eye::

Irene Mincine: :: Red Irene's scans are totally normal, quantum flux backwards from Blue Irene, same as before. :: Red> "Do I have a concussion? Brain damage? Transporter psychosis? Because... he's dead, that's why I'm tactical officer and not him."

Maryse Dubois: ::Tilts her head curiously at the comment.:: Ah something our new Irene mentioned I take it?

Indaura Ryssan: He's alive

Hakran K'hal: Yes, apparently I'm dead wherever she comes from.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She crossed her arms, glancing through the window at the other Irene.:: Yes, I caught that. ::She smirked.:: And like the sound of it. Have you been able to find out where she's from, exactly?

Irene Mincine: Red> "I..." :: She laid back down on the bio-bed. ::

Hakran K'hal: ::doesn't wait to be invited and slumps into a chair::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She glances at K'hal and follows suit, though doesn't look quite so haggard.::

Maryse Dubois: ::Leans on her desk.:: Honestly I don't know what to do with her. She's perfectly healthy, and raring to go. ::Pauses:: Other than the stardate that she gave me, no.

Hakran K'hal: And on our end, we have diddly. I came down here hoping 2nd Irene would be helpful in figuring out our situation as a whole.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: So maybe we should ask her.

Hakran K'hal: Although I may have to have someone else do the interview. Ghosts make terrible interrogators.

Irene Mincine: :: Red was looking very confused. ::

Maryse Dubois: She also doesn't know about the time displacement. I wasn't sure how to tell her....And since she thinks Miranda is the Captain... ::Looks to her.::

Rhan K'hal: ::steps lightly down to the helm:: How's our drift, el-tee?

Maryse Dubois: But here is our other problem. It's our Irene... :;Sighs:: She took a lot of gamma radiation. I do mean A LOT. I've been looking into options for treatment.

Hakran K'hal: Gamma radiation's been making its way around. It's apparently what caused all hell to break lose, with the time lube, and the pooglue.

Irene Mincine: :: Val spins around the helm chair and replies to Rhan. :: Carillon> "I'm trying to keep us steady. It's not easy, that's for sure. Drift is manageable but God knows for how long." :: She looks pretty creepy with her mismatched eye color. ::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Do what you can for her, Doctor. Let me know how her situation progresses.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: We can't depend on our Irene to get us out of this jam. Mr. K'hal, I suggest you talk to the Captain about other alternatives in the meanwhile.

Maryse Dubois: ::Nods.:: It probably will be nothing short of a full transfusion at this point. But the silver lining is that I do have options.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: I'll handle the other Irene and find out what she knows and if there's anything that can help us.

Rhan K'hal: ::has seen odder things than heterochromia:: I have a little more computer for the navigation system to use now, so take it if you need it.

Hakran K'hal: ::nods wearily:: Maybe we can hijack a passing Miranda class.

Irene Mincine: :: Val smirks. :: Val> "Stationkeeping calculations are easy. It's the thrusters more than the computer."

Rhan K'hal: That I can't help you with. Let's hope our engineers are miracle workers, or at least major achievement in all that's beingly possible.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: The best class. ::Slight smirk.:: And get some rest, at least a couple of hours. That's an order, Mr. K'hal.

Indaura Ryssan: :: Wonders where/when they are ::

Hakran K'hal: Aye. "Captain."

Maryse Dubois: I second that one.

Cptn Swain: ACTION> Sensors detect an incoming warp signature, but they're not up to identifying make, model, or license plate.

Hakran K'hal: ::Maryse:: Let me know what's going on. After my court-ordered and much needed nap.

Maryse Dubois: ::Nods.:: of course.

Rhan K'hal: ::walks over to tactical, sense most of security has been dragooned into heavy lifting:: Incoming warp signature, Captain.

Irene Mincine: Val> "Aye." :: She swings back around when the computer beeps at her. :: "Warp signature of some kind. Couldn't tell you what it belongs to, though. Long-range sensors are pretty much kaput."

Rhan K'hal: Yeah, it could be a flying potato for all I can tell.

Cptn Swain: ...AND....
