USS Excalibur Sim Log - 04.07.19

MISSION BRIEF: Lost in space and time, the crew of Excalibur is currently exploring the planet of Sarras in an attempt to source materials that might be used to repair the ship and feed the crew. Engineering is busy with repairs, Science is working on options to return us to our own time, and Medical & Ops are currently dealing with the curious case of Irene Mincine.

William Chocox: Want me to start on those models first?

Irene Mincine: "I'm a Borg now." :: Said Irene after Maryse shot her full of medical nanites. ::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::Miranda nodded.:: Yes, we need something to test. Do the scale tests and have the computer extrapolate.

Rhan K'hal: :: now that Irene has had her first injection, swings a leg over a chair and starts poking at a console :: Let's see, I should be hearing back from the controller nanites soon.

Maryse Dubois: Well, if you want to be technical, I didn't start this. ::Scans Irene.::

William Chocox: On it ma'am. ::sets the materials down at his work station and starts drawing out plans::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: (( Irene, Maryse, & Rhan -- give me a number from 1 - 10 ))

Rhan K'hal: (( 3 ))

Irene Mincine: (( 8 ))

Hunter Matheson: @ ::wanders toward the shuttle to check a few things::

Indaura Ryssan: @ :: Working ::

Hakran K'hal: :: back on the ship once again, getting his frequent shuttler miles in, is checking in on Issaha and the time lords to see what they've come up with so far ::

Indaura Ryssan: @ :: bumps into Mathson :: Oh, pardon me.

Hunter Matheson: @ ::turns:: Yes, ma'am?

Indaura Ryssan: @ Sorry, I have been wandering....enjoying the air./

Hunter Matheson: @ ::slight grin:: No problem, ma'am. It's pretty nice down here. Might as well enjoy it.

Rhan K'hal: (( :: whistles the Jeopardy theme :: ))

Maryse Dubois: ((7 sorry stepped away a minute.))

William Chocox: ::mutters to himself:: Triangles, triangles, and more triangles. Everyone's favorite structural shape.

Indaura Ryssan: @ It is more open than I am used to..

Hunter Matheson: @ ::nods:: More open than we've seen in a while, ma'am.

Rhan K'hal: :: looks over the data coming in from the supervisor nanites ::

Hunter Matheson: @ There's.. uh.. lots of fields, a few... interesting animals, clean water - at least it registers clean.

Irene Mincine: :: Irene sits there, being... nanited... :: "Anything?"

Hunter Matheson: @ Few nice hills to climb. ::scratching some leftover blood from his arm::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ACTION> The nanites begin communicating with Rhan and the results look promising. Though it wouldn't be a total fix, the nanites did seem to be targeting the foreign DNA to eradicate it. However, side effects include a slight phase shift in Irene's physical form. She began looking rather... transparent.

Rhan K'hal: :: looks over at Irene :: It's proceeding a little um... unexpectedly.

Indaura Ryssan: @ :: looks :: How is the arm?

Irene Mincine: "I don't feel well..." :: Irene puts her head in her hands, which she notices are looking pretty invisible... :: "Uh... uh... Maryse? Rhan?" :: She was freaking out! ::

William Chocox: ::finishes drawing a standard build strength model:: Been a while since I've done one of these. Let's see how it does. ::starts actually building the model::

Rhan K'hal: :: looks back at the console, and back at Irene :: Try putting THAT side effect on the label.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::While Will worked on testing the new hull material, Miranda sat down to coordinate the other repair efforts, assigning additional teams as needed.::

Hunter Matheson: @ My arm, ma'am? It's fine. Just got a little blood left on 'em, but it'll wash off ::his sleeve cuffs are rolled up:::

Hunter Matheson: @ How are you doing, ma'am? Coping with the change we've had?

Maryse Dubois: Very unexpectedly... ::Scanning.:: Try adjusting her bubble a little.

Rhan K'hal: Stay calm, I think your de-DNA-ing is going to uh... interfere with the time bubble. Let me try to figure this out.

Indaura Ryssan: @ Well, being in the past can be problematic for a Denobulan. Families are large...really large. I'll be okay if I don't come into contact with any of my own people.

Rhan K'hal: :: fingers fly across the console as he does some calculations :: Okay, decreasing chroniton stabilization by 2.8% over 180 seconds.

William Chocox: ::click, click, click, click as he keeps putting pieces together::

Hunter Matheson: @ ::quizzical look:: Not all that familiar with your species, ma'am. Mind telling me about how they might be a problem?

Irene Mincine: "I need a... oh..." :: Irene crumples off the biobed to the floor. That sandwich she ate last episode comes back up, all over the floor in front of her. ::

Indaura Ryssan: @ I think humans call it the grandfather paradox. You go back in time, kill or cause to be killed your own grandfather, you cease to exist.

Indaura Ryssan: @ For me there are more branches that could result in my demise.

Rhan K'hal: :: watches the numbers as Irene crumples and her proverbial cookies are tossed :: Almost there.

Hunter Matheson: @ ::blank stare for a few minutes:: Uh... never quite thought about that ma'am. So.. I guess we better stay under cover for as long as we can. At least until we find a way back to our time.

Indaura Ryssan: @ I've read the temporal causality logs... getting out of this will be fraught with issues.

Hunter Matheson: @ ::stows his knife:::

Rhan K'hal: Bubble realignment complete.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ACTION> Irene's condition normalizes after a few moments of reprogramming and the phase shift eventually stops.

Maryse Dubois: ::Still scanning.:: I think that should do it. Give it a minute, you should start feeling better.

Indaura Ryssan: @ Our time... right. We have already jumped out of our time into another. There's a good likelihood we will jump back into something that is not our own.

Rhan K'hal: I recommend before the next dose: no dinner and a sedative.

Hunter Matheson: @ Tell you what, ma'am. I'm thinking that the best thing for us in this situation is to not think about the problems we *might* have. Just enjoy the life we have now.

Irene Mincine: :: Irene goes back to her normal tan self. She's still curled up on the floor, breathing heavily, carefully away from the mess she made. :: "I am going... to kill... whoever did this... to me..."

William Chocox: How are the other teams doing ma'am? ::puts his structure in the pressure machine to test its strength::

Hunter Matheson: @ Hell, we never know what's going to happen from one minute to the next anyway.

Indaura Ryssan: @ There is a limit, but my duty is to keep people alive...as long as engineering is keeping the ship alive.

Hunter Matheson: @ Yes, ma'am.

Indaura Ryssan: @ You do not need to call me ma'am...sir.

Hunter Matheson: @ ::nods:: Will do.

Rhan K'hal: I'll hold your coat.

Maryse Dubois: ::Calls for an orderly to clean up.:: At least we can somewhat expect that for the next dose.

Indaura Ryssan: @ :: nudges him :: Would have been funnier if you said " Will do, ma'am." Anyhow, have you heard when we are to leave?

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She sighed.:: Overworked, I'm afraid, but that's the way it has to be at the moment. We're making good progress with what we have.

Irene Mincine: "Sorry about that..." :: She slowly climbed back onto the biobed, redoing her hair tie after it all had flopped everywhere. :: "At least I'm... a little better than before, right?"

Hunter Matheson: @ :::crooked smile:: I suppose so. NCO to officer, it's giving the officer due respect. But I'll ditch the "ma'am" if that's your preference. And no, ma'.... uh... no, I haven't heard anything about leaving. Mostly about surviving.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She made a few notations and swiped to the next report.:: It's the gaps that worry me. The materials we don't have. I don't like having to rely on untested substitutions.

Rhan K'hal: According to the nanite controllers and the Doc's scans, we've made progress. Not going to be a magic pill though, this is going to take some time.

Indaura Ryssan: @ :: nods :: I'm not much on rank myself. If that arm gives you trouble look us up.

William Chocox: Well, hopefully we'll have a tested substitution soon.

Hunter Matheson: @ ::nods:: Will do. It's sheep blood. Snagged it over the hill a ways.

Irene Mincine: "I still keep having nightmares about Romulans thanks to these time shifts, you know. I hope *that* stops soon..."

William Chocox: ::jumps as the scale model snaps from the pressure:: See! Tested!

Rhan K'hal: The less out of time you are the better that should get. I think. That's not my specialty.

William Chocox: ::looks over the data and starts extrapolating with the computer::

Maryse Dubois: ::nods.::

William Chocox: So uh...I have good news and bad news.

Irene Mincine: "It gets worse when I'm asleep, for some reason." :: Irene's finally settled on the biobed. ::

Indaura Ryssan: @ Space sheep

William Chocox: Which would you like first?

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She turned slightly toward Chocox, resting her elbow on the console with a sigh.:: Get it over with. Bad first.

Rhan K'hal: :: Maryse :: Once the full genetic resurvey is complete I'll start programming round two. I'll leave it up to you to decide on the when.

Hunter Matheson: @ Eh... not quite. ::rubs his hair::: more like a sheep/goat mix. We'll see how it tastes if the mess fixes it.

Maryse Dubois: With your DNA changing back to acceptable levels, I can confidently give you a mild sedative if you want.

Hunter Matheson: @ You ever had sheep.. or lamb?

Maryse Dubois: ::Nods.:: I estimate another hour.

William Chocox: This stuff is not suitable for the hull. Not without modifications to it first.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: @ACTION> Those planetside suddenly get a severe storm warning alert. The eastern horizon was boiling with dark, purplish clouds that were rolling in quickly. The wind began to pick up, as well.

Irene Mincine: "Oh, thank god." :: As soon as Maryse said that. :: "Might as well get this over with as soon as we can. But yeah, sedate me for the next one. Or I'll throw up on our engineer lieutenant." ::

Hunter Matheson: @ ::looking up:: Whoa... that's not good. ::takes her arm::: Quick...get to the shuttle.

Indaura Ryssan: @ Me? It's been a long time for having meat at all. At least not replicated.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: (( Two minute warning ))

Hunter Matheson: @ Quick.. it's coming fast.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She groaned.:: Okay. And the good news?

William Chocox: We can use it for the structure.

Maryse Dubois: ::Shrugs.:: It won't be much longer.

Indaura Ryssan: @ :: Looks all around while heading to the shuttle ::

Rhan K'hal: At least I have a template to go off now, though I think I'll have to make a few modifications to slow down the temporal decoupling. Or at least I think that's what the blue-collars called it.

Indaura Ryssan: @ :: stowes her PADD :: What now?

Irene Mincine: "Don't look at me, you saw my Academy records when I came on board. Genetics yes, temporal mechanics not really."

Hunter Matheson: @ ::enters the code and the hatch opens::: We duck and cover!

Hunter Matheson: @ ::pulls her in::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Well... that's something, at least.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ACTION> On the bridge, long range sensors blip as they pick up an incoming warp signature.

Rhan K'hal: I'm a computer programmer and I'm simultaneously trying to deal with that, genetic, AND temporal mechanics. I get the job pity, you can keep the condition pity.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: (( And... ))

Indaura Ryssan: @ :: Ducks :: Anyone out there ?

William Chocox: Definitely something.

Irene Mincine: :: Irene laughs. :: "Understood."

Hunter Matheson: @ :::secures the hatch as soon as they are in::: Sit tight. We might rock with the storm.
