USS Excalibur Sim Log - 03.03.19

Cptn Swain: MISSION BRIEF: Still lost in time, we have located a relatively out of the way system we're calling Sarras. Having cleared the asteroid belt that should keep people from seeing too much on a passive scan, we head now for an M-class moon where we hope to be able to reprovision and make repairs, while determining the next course of action.

Hunter Matheson: ::helm, watching their trajectory for orbit entry::

Hunter Matheson: +com+ Engineering, helm. How much pressure can our exterior structure take without peeling off and leaving us naked?

Irene Mincine: :: Irene's watching the sensor readings for the planet from her medbay room-turned-makeshift planetary science room. ::

Indaura Ryssan: :: Massages her temples ::

William Chocox: ::in Engineering with a fresh uniform and refreshed from a nap:: +Matheson+ The hull can withstand [insert proper amount and unit here]

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::Notes the ship slowing and slides over to have a look at the exterior sensors.:: +Helm+ If our hull integrity is enough to stand up to warp, it'll be completely fine for normal orbiting maneuvers.

William Chocox: ((Whoops, scratch mine))

Cptn Swain: ::Exits into the bridge, pulling back his hair as he goes, It was still rather short by his preferred standards, but long enough it would have doubtlessly annoyed his husband.::

Hunter Matheson: +Eng+ Copy that. Shout if something weird starts happening. Taking a 17 degree angle into the atmosphere in about 5.

William Chocox: Shout if something weird starts happening? Has he not been on this ship long?

Maryse Dubois: ::Walking around sickbay, making a supply list.::

Hunter Matheson: ::bridge:: Dropping from warp in three.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She grinned at Chocox.:: Apparently not. Have a restful sleep? You don't look half dead, any more.

Hunter Matheson: ::intense focus 'cause, you know, he's on camera and it's gotta look good:::

Indaura Ryssan: Are you alright Doctor?

William Chocox: As restful as one can have when one's worried about their ship. How was the ship while I was out?

Hunter Matheson: Dropping from warp.

Hunter Matheson: ::slowly, that is::

Irene Mincine: "Hey, if you're picking up supplies, can you get me some Aldebaran whiskey?" :: She yells to Maryse through the open door, the blue glowing haze of the temporal stabilizer between them. ::

Cptn Swain: ::Takes the command chair::

Hunter Matheson: ::checks the area, takes a deep breath:: Entering the atmosphere.

Hunter Matheson: Captain, high altitude or low altitude orbit?

Hunter Matheson: Or.. medium. ::shrugs::

Maryse Dubois: ::Nods.:: Yeah. Just making a list of appropriate supplies to collect.

Cptn Swain: Standard orbit will be fine. Let's have it on screen.

Hunter Matheson: Standard orbit, aye. Onscreen.

Hakran K'hal: :: at sci1 on the bridge, preparing to do sciency things once they get "parked." ::

Maryse Dubois: And no. :;Calling back to Irene.:: No alcohol for you.

Hunter Matheson: ::K'hal:: How's our radiation?

Rhan K'hal: At this point in the orbit, acceptable. With the 96 hour orbital period, we'll hit the belt in 36 hours, with a 6 hour transit.

Cptn Swain: ::Looking on:: Well it already looks more habitable than the last planet we visited.

Maryse Dubois: I'll return shortly. ::Looks to Indaura.:: Keep an eye on Irene. ::Leaves for the TL.::

Hunter Matheson: Copy that.

William Chocox: What do you want me to work on right now?

Cptn Swain: ::Clicks tongue:: Unless all that water is heavy.

Irene Mincine: "Come on, I've been stuck in here for days..." :: Irene frowns watching Maryse leave. ::

Irene Mincine: :: She goes back to watching the sensors. ::

Maryse Dubois: ::Arrives on the bridge, walking over by Rhan.::

Hakran K'hal: :: tightens the sensor scans of the planet to a standard first pass arc ::

Hunter Matheson: ::allowing the planetary field to bring them in:::

Hunter Matheson: And.. orbit achieved.

Rhan K'hal: :: looks over, smiles at Maryse :: Doc.

Hunter Matheson: ::checking status, making sure they're not being pulled in any farther:::

Cptn Swain: Once you've secured that the planet has breathable atmosphere and isn't any known danger, get an away team together. We need to start gathering supplies and see about maybe finding a. uh, vacation site if we have to stay here for any period of time.

Maryse Dubois: Hey. ::Smiles, Setting her PADD down.:: A list of things we should be able to use to replenish the replicator stock.

Hakran K'hal: :: allows Issaha to look over the geology and resources, Irene the biology of course, and himself looking for anomalies or other wtf things ::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: The ship seems to be fine. ::She rose from her station.:: Our power levels are steady. Once we're in orbit and running in low power, we can get that nacelle fixed. ::Moving to the status board, she took a long look.:: That nacelle is going to be our priority. We need to get it up and running.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: You ready for that space walk we talked about?

Rhan K'hal: :: taptaps to transfer contents to the main ::

Cptn Swain: +Engineering+ We've entered orbit Commander. She's all yours.

Irene Mincine: :: Irene starts intensive scans for lifeforms and biological diversity now that they're in orbit, opening the communication channel to the bridge science station again. :: "OK, bridge. Let's see what's going on down on this planet."

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: +Swain+ Thank you, Captain. We're going to put all systems on minimal power until we get the grid back to normal.

Hakran K'hal: Standard oxygen-nitrogen-carbon dioxide mix, with a healthy helping of methane, so there's definitely something digesting down there.

Indaura Ryssan: :: to Irene :: Perhaps they will bring back a souvenir.

William Chocox: Alright, nacelle it is. ::grabs his toolkit::

Maryse Dubois: ::Hearing Irene talk.:: So that's who she's been talking to. I was beginning to think she was shifting again.

Hakran K'hal: +Irene+ Concentrations indicative of a heavy flora concentration, maybe a smattering of animal life considering the methane.

Rhan K'hal: :: checks for any signs of the presence of technology ::

Rhan K'hal: It's a bit odd to have her voice coming out of the secondary science console on and off. It's like she's part of the ship.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She grabbed hers, as well, and headed for the lift along with Will.::

Irene Mincine: "It looks like the planet's in a much earlier stage of ecological evolution, yes. Lots of plants, some aquatic creatures, maybe small land animals that just left the ocean. Hard to tell from here." :: "We can only hope it's intoxicating..." :: Irene replied to Indaura, muting the microphone to the bridge. ::

William Chocox: This is going to take a while isn't it?

Cptn Swain: ::Standing, he took in the view again:: I suppose we'll need to use shuttles. They should have the bay cleaned up now.

Rhan K'hal: Shuttles would be wise, I'm not exactly sure we could put Humpty Dumpty back together, let alone any crew.

Hunter Matheson: ::still at helm, though powered down, he's taking a good look at the moon/planet, and it's almost too good lookin to be true:::

Maryse Dubois: I can imagine.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She sighed as the lift closed behind them and sent them on the way.:: Yes, unfortunately. Longer than I would like.

Indaura Ryssan: :: Updating records she was working on ::

William Chocox: And we still have to figure out how to travel a couple hundred years into the future.

Hakran K'hal: Issaha, if I'm reading this right instead of volcanic activity we're getting huge geysers? The core must be water based. The crust seems to be just thick enough to maintain a habitable surface in between splashing wide areas with steaming hot water.

Rhan K'hal: :: dryly :: I guess we get boiled dinners.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: And getting the ship in perfect shape that'll survive such a journey. If it is even possible.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: You have family missing you in the future, Chocox?

Cptn Swain: Issaha> Fascinating.

Hakran K'hal: Captain, I'm not seeing anything dangerous other than the ample scattering of San Francisco-sized Old Faithfuls.

Irene Mincine: "That's amazing. I'd love to get a sample of the geyser water - I bet there's some really cool extremophiles in there." :: Irene's completely forgotten her woes in medbay - she's totally engrossed in this planet. ::

Maryse Dubois: Maybe there are some nice hot springs we could relax at.

Hunter Matheson: ::listening to the bridge chatter:::

Cptn Swain: ::Nods:: Then start your engines Mister Khal.

Rhan K'hal: I still don't trust hot springs after the last ones.

Hunter Matheson: ::smirk, kind of enjoyed those hot springs:::

Cptn Swain: Once everything seems in the clear, we can start letting the crew down since engineering is running on low power.

Maryse Dubois: ::Grins.:: Somehow I doubt there will be addictive drugs in these.

Hakran K'hal: Issaha, Mr. Matheson, with me. Doctor, if you could pick someone to join the team. Rhan, please get in touch with LCdr Augustin, have a small security detail join us in the shuttle bay.

Hunter Matheson: :::logs out:: Aye, sir.

Rhan K'hal: Relaying the request.

Irene Mincine: :: Irene frowns, knowing she doesn't get to join in the fun. :: "What shall I do from here, sir?"

William Chocox: My parents are on...they may have actually made it back to Sacramento on Earth.

Hakran K'hal: +Irene+ I'll leave you in charge as much as you're able of continuing the orbital survey. Rhan will forward the shopping list for biologicals.

Hunter Matheson: ::grabs his gear and follows Hakran::

William Chocox: They had been on Andoria studying some ruins.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She nodded.:: You speak with them regularly?

Hakran K'hal: :: stands, heads for the lift :: Captain, I'll check in when we land.

Irene Mincine: "Yes, sir." :: She sounded disappointed. :: "I'll keep scanning from here. ::

Indaura Ryssan: :: Gets a drink ::

Rhan K'hal: +Irene+ Other K'hal here, Irene. I'll be your liaison to the bridge, let me know if you need something you can't manage from the PADDs and portable console.

William Chocox: As regularly as our misadventures allow. They mentioned that they had just about wrapped everything up there last time.

Hakran K'hal: :: Hunter :: I have a few potential landing spots, I'll steer you down once I get more of a sense of them on our way down.

Hunter Matheson: Aye, sir.

Indaura Ryssan: :: Checking Irene's vitals ::

Irene Mincine: "Gotcha, sir. And please, sneak me some booze while Dr. Dubois is gone. If she's still there, pretend I didn't say anything." :: Irene's vitals are pretty normal inside the blue bubble. ::

Hakran K'hal: :: arrives in the shuttle bay ::

Hunter Matheson: ::::hands the bay chief their itinerary:::

Hunter Matheson: :::follows along::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She stepped out of the lift, heading for the EVA suits.:: I hope we can get you back to them...

Rhan K'hal: +Irene+ :: side-eyes Maryse :: I'll have someone send you new shoes right away, we wouldn't want your feet to be cold.

William Chocox: And I hope we can get you back to whoever is going to be missing you. ::starts to get suited up::

Hakran K'hal: :: picks a shuttle with some extra cargo room so they can bring samples back if necessary, climbs in and checks the equipment ::

Maryse Dubois: ::Snickers.::

Hunter Matheson: ::hops in, stows his gear, and begins pre-flight check:::

Irene Mincine: "Thank you. Sir." :: Irene starts checking out landing sites for scientific interest, relaying the information to the bridge. :: "What do you think about this spot on the northern continent? It's pretty close to some big geysers."

Hakran K'hal: :: also takes inventory of the no-name NPCs that are joining them ::

Hunter Matheson: (we have names for these shuttles - like cool names?)

Rhan K'hal: (( don't ask Swain, he'll come up with some obscure reference that even he can't remember the next week ))

Indaura Ryssan: :: gives Irene a look ::

Irene Mincine: ( The Crash-a-Lot, the Redshirt Express, )

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::Miranda thought on it as she suited up, wondering if there was anyone that would miss her. Her parents, of course, but they were involved in their own lives, their own ship, and they only exchanged messages every few years. Ithene? She hadn't heard from the woman since she departed Excalibur.::

Hunter Matheson: (Cassiopea it is)

Irene Mincine: "What's up?" :: She looks quizzically at Indaura. ::

Indaura Ryssan: You and spirits...

Indaura Ryssan: How about some tea?

Hunter Matheson: :::turns to Hakran:: We ready to go, sir?

Cptn Swain: (( Hey now, they're almost always something Arthurian))

Irene Mincine: "I like spirits!" :: Hmph. ::"I like tea, but can't stand the replicated stuff. It just all tastes so... bleh."

Rhan K'hal: +Irene+ I think this first landing we'll want somewhere not so... spewy. We need to assess stability to make sure we can settle in some of the crew there.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::Pulling on her suit except her helmet, she began her pre-walk suit checks.:: All green here. How are your suit readings?

Indaura Ryssan: I have some non-replicated.

Hakran K'hal: :: settles into the #2 seat :: Take us out, Mr. Matheson.

Cptn Swain: ::He settled back into the command chair, with a book::

Indaura Ryssan: :: Goes to get some ::

William Chocox: Green as a well-manicured lawn ma'am.

Hunter Matheson: Aye, sir. +bay chief+ Shuttle Cassiopeia ready to depart.

Hunter Matheson: Powering up...

Maryse Dubois: ::Takes a seat next to Rhan.:: It'll be nice once we can use the replicators again.

Irene Mincine: :: Irene's eyes light up! :: "I'd love a cup, then. Thank you!" :: She went back to tapping on her portable console. :: "OK. How about... here. It's half a klick from the shore, in the middle of a flat plain."

Rhan K'hal: Flight> You're clear for launch, Cassie.

Hunter Matheson: +Flight+ Copy that.

Indaura Ryssan: :: Prepares the tea :: It should help you relax... it does me. :: Passes it through the field ::

Hunter Matheson: ::lifts off, slow turn, then exits:::

Rhan K'hal: +Irene+ That looks much better on the surface. I'll update the shuttle on the updated scan data.

Rhan K'hal: +Irene+ Though with what Hak said about the thin crust, make sure it's better under the surface too.

Cptn Swain: (( 4 minute warning ))

Indaura Ryssan: It's got honey, lemon.. and something special in it.

Hunter Matheson: :::descent is a lot smoother than he thought it would be:::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Alright, let's go. ::She started for the engineering access port.::

Hakran K'hal: :: receives the data dump from Excal :: That was my choice as well. :: feeds the coords to Hunter ::

William Chocox: ::follows her:: We'll get you back ma'am.

Hunter Matheson: Coords received.

Irene Mincine: +Rhan+ "It looks pretty stable. I'm reading a rocky deposit under the soil that will easily support the shuttle's weight." :: Irene took the tea through the field. :: "Thank you. I'm sorry if I'm hard on you, it's just so stressful..."

Hakran K'hal: Nice flat plain, if you run into something you'll never live it down.

Hunter Matheson: We will be down in three...

Hakran K'hal: @ :: dons his @ at thwaps one on Hunter's head ::

Hunter Matheson: @ ::OW:::

Rhan K'hal: +Irene+ Ten-Fo'.

Hunter Matheson: @ Whoa... nice place. :::pulls up to land:::

Rhan K'hal: :: Maryse :: How about swimming as a crew activity? Assuming any water fauna aren't chompy.

Hunter Matheson: @ ::slow, careful landing 'cause nothing is ever perfect:::

Hunter Matheson: @ We're down, sir.

Hunter Matheson: @ Going to hot standby. ::just in case:::

Hakran K'hal: @ Very good. Let's go get a breath of fresh air.

Hunter Matheson: @ ::remembering they might be on the low end of the food chain:::

Cptn Swain: ..AND...

Hakran K'hal: @ :: rises, heads to the hatch and opens up ::

Maryse Dubois: ::Nods.:: I could go for that.

Hunter Matheson: @ ::as the air pours in:: Whoa... nice.

Irene Mincine: :: Irene hopes that she doesn't get a few sudden promotions out of this landing... ::

Hakran K'hal: @ :: processes the smells with his predator's nose ::

Hakran K'hal: @ I hope the crew likes seaweed wrapped sushi.
