A Trill scientist has rough blueprints of a new form of warp drive which would render dilithium obsolete.  Needless to say, his discoveries have not gone over well with wealthy dilithium prospectors.  Rumor has it that that are several large bounties on the scientist's head.  The USS Janus (Akira class) must transport the scientist from the Trill homeworld to the safety of Starbase 3.
