Personal History:

Annika was born and raised at the Galileo II research outpost situated on the Jovian moon Europa to Swedish/Norwegian scientists Magnus and Inga Sorenson.   Annika had a fairly normal childhood, and received her education at the Galileo outpost in her early years before receiving a formal education at the school in Europa’s main city as well as additional education in her father’s hometown of Stockholm, Sweden when her parents were on sabbatical from their roles in the research outpost.

She was a warm and popular student in Europa and Stockholm but was initially shy and introverted due to the limited social interactions she had in the isolated Galileo outpost, though she did play well with other children in Europa’s main city and in Stockholm.  During her childhood, she did develop a love for the oceans of Europa, Earth and the other moons in the Jovian and Saturnian regions of the Sol System.  With her parents, she learned about the ocean life in Europa and spent much of her childhood exploring the vast oceans of Europa, Ganymede and Enceladus even learning how to operate the colony’s research subs when she was 12.

After finishing secondary education, Annika expressed an interest in joining Starfleet, wanting to leave the remote research colony and “spread her wings”.  With the support of her family, Annika enrolled into the Science division of Starfleet Academy to develop her already sharp skills in the sciences, while picking up stellar cartography and astrology.  Socially, Annika learned to open up with new friends she made in Academy which helped develop her social skills – something she lacked somewhat in her childhood.

Academically, Annika was a good student and earned the respect of her peers and teachers for being hard working and quick to learn, which reflected in the top marks she received whilst in the Academy.  In her final year of academy training, Annika was placed on the Oberth class training vessel USS Ross to complete her field training in the science division.

She had a very good record on the Ross, and served aboard the vessel for approximately one year mainly helping exploring and cataloging asteroids, nebulae, gaseous anomalies  and other stellar phenomena.  After completing her final year on the USS Ross, Annika graduated with full honours upon completion of her Sciences Program and has been assigned to the USS Manticore to serve as a Science Officer aboard this vessel.

Annika served on the Manticore with an exemplary record in the science department of said ship and eventually rose to the rank of full Lieutenant.   In 2370, the Manticore was lost after engaging Changeling and Jem’Haddar forces in a Federation Star base.  Immediately after the loss of the Manticore, Annika and her crew were recalled to Earth Space dock.

There, she and her crew were surprised to learn that they were to be immediately assigned to a new USS Manticore (NCC-5852-B), also a Nebula class.  She was formally transferred aboard the new Manticore-B and received a field promotion to Lieutenant Commander that same day.  As of 2372, Annika continues to serve aboard the Manticore B as a Science Officer.

Personality Profile:

Annika is considered to be friendly and approachable to anyone she meets, but may appear to be somewhat distant when she first meets anyone. She typically takes longer than most to get to know someone and like them enough to consider a friend.  Once she gets to know them better however, she is considered to be very sociable and quite affectionate towards the people she is closest with.

Annika is still very close to the other children she grew up with at Galileo II, Europa’s main city and her parents given the isolated nature of the outpost and of Europa in general.  Due to her distant or cool nature to those she is unfamiliar with, as well as her upbringing on the icy moon Europa, her peers given her the nickname of “The Ice Queen” which Annika embraces.

Hobbies/Additional Information:

When not engaged in scientific activities, Annika enjoys swimming and scuba diving (the latter learnt on numerous dives in Europa, using underwater EVA suits).  She is a strong swimmer and picked up her lifeguard certification in Sweden.

Annika also enjoys piloting shuttles, of which she learned at Galileo II and helped deliver supplies and scientific equipment for the colony to and from Earth during her time at the outpost.  She also enjoys to travel and visit new places, clubs and shopping.  She can also speak several languages: English (Fed. Standard), Swedish, and Norwegian (being of a mainly mixed Swedish-Norwegian heritage) and a little bit of Spanish.

Despite being born and raised in the frigid temperatures of Europa, Annika does enjoy being in warm weather owing to her time in California and shore leaves on the tropical planet of Risa.

During her time in Manticore, she was offered a role as a model for the fashion company Beyamax after a mission she had on Deep Space 9.  Annika continues to work as a fashion model on the side in addition to her Starfleet duties and has modelled mainly in Risa and in various places on Earth.  She has also appeared in some fashion shows on the catwalks of cities like Paris, London, Milan and New York City during an extended shore leave on Earth.

She also is a model for Starfleet’s recruitment efforts and has appeared as a model in many holo-magazines, commercials and holo-ads that can be seen throughout the planets of the UFP and on many space stations and star bases for Beyamax and Starfleet Recruitment.
