USS Challenger - October 12, 2018

Cptn Ja'Lale: USS Challenger Mission Brief - 12 Oct 2018: The Challenger sent down a team to rescue miners trapped in a mine on the planet's surface while communications and partial power has been restored to the colony. Computer sensor readings seem to indicate that they were attacked by a D7 type warbird, but it has not been ascertained that the ship is Romulan or Klingon. Sensor readings also seem to be indicating some activity deeper into Federation space suggesting this colony wasn't their only target. TBS was 3 hours and we continue as we look over sensor readings and monitor progress of the rescue operation.
Cptn Ja'Lale: Any questions?
Hunter Matheson: Yes sir
Cptn Ja'Lale: Yes?
Hunter Matheson: Is this gonna be death by Romulan ship?
Cptn Ja'Lale: Maybe..
Hunter Matheson: I mean because this...
Hunter Matheson: right

Cptn Ja'Lale: BEGIN SIM
Cptn Ja'Lale: BEGIN SIM

Hunter Matheson: ::stationkeeping::
Cptn Ja'Lale: ::on the bridge, monitoring the rescue operation::
Dyan Sylvanis: ::At her station.::
Caitlin Townshend: ::splitting her attention among many things: the rescue operation, scanning the surface, scanning the surrounding volume of space …::
Dvokr chim Hok: :: At operations ::
Hunter Matheson: ::keeping an eye on the El Tee to see if her expression changes any as she scans::
Hunter Matheson: ::feels a disturbance in the atmo:: Getting a little turbulence from the front going across the operation, Captain.
Hunter Matheson: Gonna be bumpy, but otherwise we're good.
Cptn Ja'Lale: Feel free to move to a more optimal position if need be
Hunter Matheson: Aye, sir.
Caitlin Townshend: No signs of any other ships in system yet….
Hunter Matheson: Shifting to higher orbit.
Dyan Sylvanis: ::Watching the tactical board.::
Dvokr chim Hok: :: speak to whomever :: Make sure we have a shuttle prepped.
Hunter Matheson: ::working the console, checking everything as it goes::
Hunter Matheson: Orbit attained. Going to stationkeeping. We're just above the turbulence, Captain, but it might be a bumpy ride for the shuttle when they deploy.
Cptn Ja'Lale: ::nods:: Understood..
Cptn Ja'Lale: Action: The shuttle team is just about ready to deploy. The rescue operation also seems to be going well too.
Hunter Matheson: ::deep breath, exhale, cracks his back on the helm chair:::
Dvokr chim Hok: Sensors are at maximum
Hunter Matheson: (w- syl) You got that thing hot? ::meaning the phasers, torpedoes, you name it:::
Cptn Ja'Lale: ACTION: Sensors detect a faint trail heading towards a more populated area towards a nearby star base.
Caitlin Townshend: Captain, I've found something.
Cptn Ja'Lale: What'd you find?
Hunter Matheson: ::sudden focus:::
Dyan Sylvanis: ::Nods.:: We're still at Yellow.
Hunter Matheson: ::nod::
Dvokr chim Hok: Something either at the edge of our sensors or weak signal.
Caitlin Townshend: Agreed. I'm trying to clear it up. ::applies several algorithms::
Caitlin Townshend: It looks like a warp trail heading deeper into Federation space. Huh.
Cptn Ja'Lale: Hm.
Hunter Matheson: ::checks his emergency exit vectors again, then remembers they really can't leave a team behind so plots low atmo entry for rescue, then reconfigures exit vectors from low atmo::
Caitlin Townshend: ::begins taking measurements to attempt trilateration of the warp trail::
Cptn Ja'Lale: ACTION: Shuttle team is requesting clearance to depart.
Hunter Matheson: ::adding the shuttle to his list of presets::
Hunter Matheson: (do we have a jet squadron)
Cptn Ja'Lale: (Yes)
Hunter Matheson: :::alerts CAG re new vector set::
Cptn Ja'Lale: ::Gives clearance to the shuttle team who leave and begins to head to the mines::
Caitlin Townshend: So far all I can determine about the trail is that it's in the direction of the closest starbase, and it could have originated from this system.
Dvokr chim Hok: I can't determine what kind of vessel
Cptn Ja'Lale: ACTION: A general distress call is coming from the star base a few light years away, they are under attack.
Dvokr chim Hok: Distress call from the starbase...
Cptn Ja'Lale: How far away are we?
Cptn Ja'Lale: ACTION: Sensors indicate it's two D7 type vessels and five smaller warbirds.
Hunter Matheson: ::sets his exit vector according to starbase coords::
Cptn Ja'Lale: Set a course to the star base.
Dyan Sylvanis: Shall I go to red alert?
Cptn Ja'Lale: (2 minutes)
Caitlin Townshend: We're 3.2 light-years
Cptn Ja'Lale: Yes, please
Cptn Ja'Lale: Best speed to starbase
Dyan Sylvanis: ::Brings the ship to red alert.::
Hunter Matheson: Best speed to starbase, aye.
Hunter Matheson: Coming about to zero-eight-three mark seven. Engaging at max warp.
Hunter Matheson: Hang on. We're at low atmosphere, heading out. Bumpy, yes.
Caitlin Townshend: ::feels a little sorry for the teams they're stranding on the surface until another ship can be dispatched::
Cptn Ja'Lale: Feels bad as well, but is compelled to assist the starbase
Cptn Ja'Lale: PAUSE SIM PAUSE SIM
Cptn Ja'Lale: Good job.. TBS will be an hour.. we'll be arriving at the starbase by next week. Any questions?
Hunter Matheson: no sir
Cptn Ja'Lale: Great job as always.. goodnight
Dyan Sylvanis: He really is gonna kill us all.!
Hunter Matheson: I figured he would
Cptn Ja'Lale: sim dismissed
Dyan Sylvanis: lol
Hunter Matheson: next time, syl
Dyan Sylvanis: night night
Dvokr chim Hok: Nighty
