USS Challenger - October 5, 2018

Cptn Ja'Lale: USS Challenger - Mission Brief: 5 Oct 2018: The CHallenger is orbiting a colony near the Neutral Zone where they have detected a few dozen life signs trapped in a dilithium mine which sustained heavy damage from an attack by an unknown force. A team is currently being formed to help rescue them from the mine. TBS was 3 hours

Cptn Ja'Lale: BEGIN SIM
Cptn Ja'Lale: BEGIN SIM

Dyan Sylvanis: ::At Tactical. keeping an eye on the sensors.::
Hunter Matheson: ::drumming his fingers on the helm console:::
Hunter Matheson: (w - Syl) Hate this waiting. Wanna be down there, kicking a... well, you know.
Dvokr chim Hok: :: Operations ::
Dyan Sylvanis: ::Nods in agreement.:: I hear you.
Cptn Ja'Lale: Is everything ready for the team to leave?
Hunter Matheson: ::checking orbit since they're at low altitude:: Orbit is stable, Captain.
Dyan Sylvanis: It appears so. Equipment has already been sent down.
Cptn Ja'Lale: Great. ::to Dyan:: Let's get started on the rescue effort.
Dyan Sylvanis: ::Gives the go ahead.::
Dvokr chim Hok: Engineering reports read.
Cptn Ja'Lale: Good.
Cptn Ja'Lale: ACTION: The rescue mission is underway.
Cptn Ja'Lale: Pinpoint on the area where the miners are. See if there's any passage ways we can get them out. Or any other means to get them out.
Hunter Matheson: :::careful watch on the console and the atmosphere 'cause you never know when something weird will happen in the atmo:::
Dvokr chim Hok: Last scan revealed a set of narrow passages, but for the moment they are only allowing limited air flow.
Hunter Matheson: ::checks right, then left::: Helm indicates rough high altitude weather on approach. Not bad. Maybe a little bumpy.
Hunter Matheson: ::checks again::: Um... yeah. Not bad.
Cptn Ja'Lale: Well, that's good I guess.
Dyan Sylvanis: I've sent coordinates to the team which is the safest area to begin digging a second shaft.
Cptn Ja'Lale: Excellent.
Cptn Ja'Lale: ACTION: The Challenger is being hailed by the main settlement.
Dvokr chim Hok: Incoming hail.
Cptn Ja'Lale: On screen.
Cptn Ja'Lale: ::One of the Security teams appears on screen:: +Challenger+ This is Lt. Van Burton. We've managed to restore power to the main computer here in the main settlement.
Cptn Ja'Lale: According to sensors, it looks like the colony was attacked by a D7 warbird. Most likely Romulan, but the sensors weren't able to get a positive result before they took the computers out.
Hunter Matheson: ::holy sh...:::
Dyan Sylvanis: :;Sighs. At least she might have something to work with.::
Cptn Ja'Lale: Van Burton> +Challenger+ Looks like it was a few days ago which corroborates with that the colonists say.
Dvokr chim Hok: :: Thinks about a D7 ::
Cptn Ja'Lale: Seems to confirm it. Hm.
Dvokr chim Hok: :: Scanning the area, even though he's operations ::
Cptn Ja'Lale: ACTION: Nothing can be found on sensors. They're probably long gone.
Dvokr chim Hok: Nothing..
Hunter Matheson: ::puffs out a breath he was holding:::
Cptn Ja'Lale: Not surprising.
Cptn Ja'Lale: ::trying to think of their next course of action::
Cptn Ja'Lale: ACTION: Meanwhile, progress is going well for the rescue operations as crews begin to dig a way to the miners
Dyan Sylvanis: Digging of the new shaft is going well.
Cptn Ja'Lale: Alright.
Hunter Matheson: ::turns slightly towards the skipper::: Sir, think they'll have any survivors?
Cptn Ja'Lale: I'm pretty sure of it, yes.
Dvokr chim Hok: A D7 should have been able to do more damage... think this is trap?
Cptn Ja'Lale: ::nods:: I do. They wanted to get our attention.
Cptn Ja'Lale: Send a message.
Dvokr chim Hok: ::nods
Cptn Ja'Lale: It's no secret the Romulans aren't happy about our attempts to construct cloak capable vessels.
Hunter Matheson: ::our attention?... hm...he checks the area for hostiles over Syl's shoulder, hoping she doesn't swat him::
Dyan Sylvanis: ::Glances up at him.::
Hunter Matheson: ::looks back super quick, innocent shrug:::
Hunter Matheson: ::syl:: Anything on the radar?
Dyan Sylvanis: ::Smirks as she looks back to her screen.:: Still clear.
Hunter Matheson: ::whew::
Cptn Ja'Lale: Good to know.
Cptn Ja'Lale: (2 minutes)
Hunter Matheson: ::glance over again:: And no sign of cloaking?
Hunter Matheson: ::wince::
Cptn Ja'Lale: Action: Sensors do detect recent signs of cloaking, which seem to be heading deeper into Federation space
Cptn Ja'Lale: PAUSE SIM
Cptn Ja'Lale: PAUSE SIM
Cptn Ja'Lale: Great job, a little light but I do want to try to wrap up by the end of the month. TBS will be 12 hours, want to make good leeway into the rescue of the miners. Any questions?
Cptn Ja'Lale: Great, sim dismissed.. see you next week.
