Queen Alanda

She moved silently behind the intricately carved panels, stopping at various points to observe the newcomers, without their knowledge.  With swift hand gestures she gave silent orders to those near her.  Strangers were always a threat, but Alanda could feel that these were not ordinary strangers.

The first one, in a rust colored dress, looked very young and had no slave.  Alanda dismissed her at once and turned her attention to the others now entering the Great Hall.  Seven women in all.  All were impeccably dressed, even the males wore clothing.  Alanda could sense the murmuring throughout the male slaves already, and frowned.  Instantly, her trained eye picked out the leaders of the group.  She was Queen because of her birthright.  She remained Queen because she was intelligent, an expert tactician, and ruthless.  Alanda trusted no one, gave her heart to no one.  To do so would show a weakness that others could turn and use against her.

She stared hard at the woman dressed as a warrior and knew she had found a kindred spirit.  There was another that understood leadership required a strong hand and a hard heart.  She turned her attention to the woman next to her.  Alanda could see from her hidden position that this woman, no matter how they were introduced, was the leader of the group.  However, it was her slave that caught Alanda's eye.  Dressed to match his mistress, he looked resplendent in his burgundy doublet and knee high leather boots.  The sun glinted off his shaved head and Alanda wondered what color his hair would be.

She shook off the thoughts, noticing a small commotion toward the rear of their party.  A sudden shift in the peoples and a slave was shoved forward.  Alanda's eyes went wide with surprise and then narrowed in anger.  It was Alanda's grandmother, Rhonwen, that had decreed a blonde hair/blue eyed combination was to be the most sought after coloring for a slave.  By her hand, all men that were either bred or captured with that coloring were to be retained on the royal island.  Her mother, Caitriona, continued that same degree as did Alanda.  However she had found that those slaves tended to be weak minded and lax in their duties since they knew of their high value.

So now, how was it that this company had in their possession such a slave?  Another question to be added to her growing list for these guests.  Alanda smiled as she moved away from the hidden viewing area.  It was going to be a most interesting visit, in that she was most confident.

I'm sure everyone agrees and yes I am kissing up but well deserved kissing up :D Then again she couldn't have the best because he doesn't look all that human with his full body hair and tail but Zig you take 2nd best by far unless Moose is around but we couldn't have the captain being the first officer's slave even though she deserved it but it was be "inappropriate" hmmmmm then again with Moose's last post I'm not very sure lets just say you're both tied for second place :D
