Sky Harbor Aegis | 28 September 2018

=/\= Aegis Mission Brief  9/28/18 =/\=
29 April 2388 - Stardate 2388.119

TBS is 30 minutes. The time is 1840  hours (6:40 PM) Aegis local.
An alien species resembling humans has made contact.
They cover themselves completely - reason unknown.
They seem to be galactic explorers.
Their home world is on the far side of the galaxy in unexplored space.
They travel in a different medium that transports them instantly.
We suspect that the null space is a conduit for their travel.
So far they have directly contacted Dr. Sandero and Captain d’Ka.
They leave no trail or evidence of landing when they land.
They are somehow connected to USS Vladivostok.
Two fighters are escorting their ship to Aegis.

Johnson Kenyon: ::in medical, reviewing data::
Scott Coleridge: ::on the CnC:: Status of the alien ship?
Fletcher Jackson: :::OPS:::
mimipavilion: ::in medical::
Fletcher Jackson: Moving slowly, Commander.
Scott Coleridge: ::Tarisa:: Any ideas how it just … appeared? Spatial distortions? Wormholes?
Johnson Kenyon: ::looking at mimi and dacia::
Dacia Sandero: ::in medical, reviewing what she saw with the humanoid::
Alexis McFarland: @::with Miana and Annisha, probably still jamming out with them::
mimipavilion: ::looking at the data:: Thoughts anyone?
Dacia Sandero: He was very hard to talk to, even telepathically.
Fletcher Jackson: The ship has stopped, sir. Fighter escort reports that they do not want to come closer because it's too dangerous?
Johnson Kenyon: I think I'm still in shock... the data indicates the device worked far better than I predicted.... perhaps I didn't understand it... perhaps they wanted the outcome
Fletcher Jackson: They don't say dangerous to who, though.
Annisha: @ I hate the starship lag.. it's midnight here and I'm not tired.
Scott Coleridge: I'm inclined to be cautious.
Alexis McFarland: @ They say it takes a day or two to get adjusted to changes in time zones.
Cptn d'Ka: @ :::watching the process from the bridge of USS Missouri:::
Scott Coleridge: Hailing frequencies.
Tarisa: The way the corridor opens is a mystery to me. It is as if it opened up without a trace of distortion.
Fletcher Jackson: Hailing frequencies open.
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: Was it an invitation?
mimipavilion: Hmm. Considering it was first contact, I'm not surprised. At least they managed to adapt to a language that we could use.
Johnson Kenyon: Doctors, if you don't mind, i think I'll report to engineering... I have a lot to think about
Tarisa: It could be part of the nature of their technology, or a by-product of the nebula.
Chirakis: ::alerts security to stand by:::
Dacia Sandero: ::Nods:: Yes, that's fine. Thanks for your help, ensign.
Nijil tr'Korjata: :: Working down in engineering, which for a station like this could be anywhere ::
mimipavilion: ::Johnson:: Of course, Ensign. Hopefully you can find some better answers there.
Tarisa: @ Miana> ::Yawns a little bit.::
Scott Coleridge: Maybe their brief communication with us has helped them figure out how to talk to us...
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: They sure are different that most we contact
Scott Coleridge: ::Tarisa:: Understood.
Alexis McFarland: @ ::Snuggles Miana:: You feeling tired, Miana?
Johnson Kenyon: ::standing up and walks out the door::
Chirakis: ::Scott:: They communicated somehow with Dr. Sandero. Perhaps she should come to CnC?
Scott Coleridge: Tarisa and Cayne, see what you can make of their ship in terms of its... capabilities.
Annisha: @ I don't here the bug zapper anymore..
Johnson Kenyon: ::going to a TL::
Johnson Kenyon: ::to computer:: Engineering
Alexis McFarland: @ Yeah, neither do I. I wonder where all the bugs went?
Scott Coleridge: ::nods at Chirakis:: Good idea.
Scott Coleridge: Mr. Fletcher, please invite Dr. Sandero up here.
Fletcher Jackson: Aye, sir. +Sandero+ Dr. Sandero to CnC.
Johnson Kenyon: ::exits the TL, enroute to Main Engineering::
Annisha: @ Sleepy bugs?
mimipavilion: ::looks at Dacia:: You better get to the CnC
Dacia Sandero: Hm. +Fletcher+ I'm on my way.
Dacia Sandero: Right, off I go then. ::heads to the CnC::
Johnson Kenyon: ::entering Main Engineering, looking to report to Subcommander Nilij:
mimipavilion: ::smiles and continues pouring over the information gathered::
Tarisa: ::Eyes widen as she looks at readings.:: Such power...
Nijil tr'Korjata: :: Sees Kenyon :: How was medical? I heard au had an adventure.
Chirakis: ::Scott:: Fighters reported they stayed away because of danger. Do you suppose they do not want to harm us, that perhaps their power is.... ::turns to Tarisa::
Dacia Sandero: ::heads to the lift and the CNC when it arrives::
Fletcher Jackson: The ship has gone to stationkeeping.
Alexis McFarland: @ Hm, maybe? ::rests her chin on the top of Miana's head::
Fletcher Jackson: ::tap...tap::checks:::and checks again::
Johnson Kenyon: ::to Nijil:: Yes, sir, it was an adventure
Tarisa: Their power and weapons are...incredible is the only way I can describe it at the moment. ::Double checks.:: But they are not armed.
Scott Coleridge: ::sees Dacia arrive:: Doctor, we need your impressions on our new visitors.
Tarisa: @ Miana> :;Purrs::
Chirakis: ::nods to Tarisa:::
Chirakis: ::quietly, to Tarisa:: No indication of what kind of power?
Johnson Kenyon: ::Nijil:: Is there something I can work on for you?
Dacia Sandero: ::arrives to the CNC:: Well, he didn't seem to know how to communicate with us effectively, but did find a way to relay his message to us.
Nijil tr'Korjata: Far more going on there than here. :: gestures to the room :: Station has been running well, well enough for someone who for a few months did not realize he was running the show.
Scott Coleridge: And how would you characterize its... intentions?
Johnson Kenyon: Should I do some preventive maintenance or has that already been assigned?
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: I don't know if they are more advanced than us or just differently advanced
Dacia Sandero: It seemed to be friendly and didn't show any signs of hostility. Though I still wonder what he fully meant with his message.
Nijil tr'Korjata: Oh. :: pulls up a padd :: There's always a lot to do.
Chirakis: ::listening to Dacia, more than just curious:::
Tarisa: ::Shaking her head at the question.:: Not at the moment, and...I am afraid to pry further.
Annisha: @ Cats...
mimipavilion: ::takes a break from reading the information rubs the bridge of her nose::
Alexis McFarland: @ Meow?
Tarisa: @ Miana> :;Ears perk up.::
Chirakis: Afraid?
Scott Coleridge: We need to figure out our next move, then. What can we do as a gesture, something simple enough that they will understand?
Dacia Sandero: ::thinks:: It didn't seem that way to me.
Tarisa: :;Nods.:: We do not know how they will respond to heavy scans of their ship.
Nijil tr'Korjata: Let me see, let me see.
Chirakis: I see.
Tarisa: Some races prefer their secrets.
Nijil tr'Korjata: We are tracking things out there, more so than normal. Perhaps sensors. How much experience do au have with them?
Johnson Kenyon: I have some experience with sensors... just a routine check?
Alexis McFarland: @maybe the cats ate the bugs? Or I wonder what eats them on this planet.
Annisha: @ Miana, are there pet felines on your world?
Scott Coleridge: They are obviously interested enough in us to send a ship here.
Scott Coleridge: But communicating directly seems to be very difficult.
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: Should we consider a representative, and envoy?
Nijil tr'Korjata: Ie, the main array atop the station structure... There's a room. A rather large room.
Chirakis: ACTION> A different visitor than the one Dacia saw appears in CnC. It is of the same build, but wears a different color of clothing. It stands away from those in CnC, his head bowed, his palms out as if in welcome.
mimipavilion: ::thinks that she has been on the front of every first contact with the new species this station has encountered over the years::
Fletcher Jackson: ::eyes wide::: What the...
Dacia Sandero: ::Looks forward::
Scott Coleridge: ::nods:: That's a good idea. Although we—::looks over:: Oh my.
Johnson Kenyon: ::looks at Nijil:: I'll head up there. ::gathering his tools::
Tarisa: @ Miana> ::Nods.:: Leonicas. They are large. Similar to human dogs or the Vulcan pet cats.
Cptn d'Ka: # "watching" the situation unfold, interested, but keeping his telepathic distance:::
Tarisa: ::Tries to catch the visitor's scent.::
Dacia Sandero: ::notes this visitor wasn't the same as the one she'd encountered before::
Scott Coleridge: Oh, right. ::forgot he was in charge for a moment::
Scott Coleridge: Um... hello?
Dacia Sandero: ~Hello? ~
Johnson Kenyon: ::tools gathered, looks to Nijil:: Away I go
Chirakis: ACTION> Since there is no response but surprise, it removes its hood to reveal a very human face and head.
Nijil tr'Korjata: :: nods ::
Tarisa: ::Tail swishes as she watches the visitor, all wide eyed.::
Chirakis: Being> He looks around, then approaches Scott, but stops a distance away from him.
Johnson Kenyon: ::exits main engineering and heads to the TL::
Dacia Sandero: ::watches the being::
Chirakis: Being> He points to Scott's insignia, then to a small one on his own breast.
Scott Coleridge: ::watches the being's motions::
Scott Coleridge: Yes, we are similar.
Chirakis: Being> Then he nods, points to Scott, then to himself and presses his hands together.
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: :: pats his sidearm ::
Chirakis: Being> He notes the sidearm and steps away.
Scott Coleridge: ::mimics the being's gestures::
Annisha: @ Wonder if the station misses us? They know we are here right?
Johnson Kenyon: ::enters TL:: Take me to the room where the maintenance room next to the sensor array
Nijil tr'Korjata: :: Watching the action on the bridge via a screen ::
Alexis McFarland: @Yeah, I would think so.
Chirakis: Being> Then disappears.
Tarisa: @ Miana> ::Nods.::
Chirakis: What happened?
Scott Coleridge: ::looks around:: That was weird. That was weird, right?
Chirakis: Indeed.
Johnson Kenyon: ::exits the TL::
Tarisa: ::Nods.::
Fletcher Jackson: ::lets out a breath::
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: Hmm.
Cptn d'Ka: # {{Kh’éile, the weapon at the commander's side.}}
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: Was that a method of communication?
Chirakis: ::turns to Cayne:: Commander, your sidearm. ::holds out her hand:::
Johnson Kenyon: ::moving into the jefferies tube to climb the rest of the way::
Dacia Sandero: Hm. Yes, the commander's side arm might have turned him off. It did seem that way to me.
Chirakis: Remove your sidearm and any other weapon you might have.
Tarisa: ::Nods.:: They do seem to prefer visual communication to some degree.
Cptn d'Ka: # +Commander Coleridge, permission to beam over?+
mimipavilion: ::completely oblivious as to what happened on the CnC::
Scott Coleridge: +d'Ka+ Permission granted, Captain.
Chirakis: Commander Cayne. Your sidearm. Now! ::her hand outstretched::
Cptn d'Ka: # Lei'ri, take the con.
Cptn d'Ka: # Lei'ri> I have the conn.
Johnson Kenyon: ::entering the large room described by the subcommander::
Alexis McFarland: @::nuzzles Miana::
Cptn d'Ka: # :::beams to Aegis CnC:::
Johnson Kenyon: ::checking out the controls... noticing things are dustier than he'd expect.
Dacia Sandero: ::rubs chin, thinking about the new visitor::
Cptn d'Ka: Commander Coleridge. ::nods:: I have had some experience. Not much, but some.
Scott Coleridge: We'll take all the help we can get.
Scott Coleridge: So far the aliens seem... open, maybe even curious.
Tarisa: @ Miana> ::Purrs. Then yawns a little.::
Scott Coleridge: But we're not sure how we can take communication to the next level.
Alexis McFarland: @Yeah, I'm starting to feel tired too ::yawns as well::
Cptn d'Ka: ::looks to Cayne:: It is curious. It is also powerful. Much more powerful than we can possibly imagine.
Cptn d'Ka: But it is vulnerable, just as you or I.
Johnson Kenyon: ::running through some passive (non interfering) checks to ensure the Main sensor array is functioning correctly::
Cptn d'Ka: It was threatened by the commander's handgun. ::nods toward Cayne::
Dacia Sandero: I thought as much myself
Cptn d'Ka: ::turns to Dacia:: Perhaps both of us can make contact? Together?
Dacia Sandero: Yes, it's worth a try. I'm game.
Scott Coleridge: Proceed.
mimipavilion: ::gets up and stretches::
Alexis McFarland: @::nestled into bed with Miana::
Cptn d'Ka: Very well. Together, focus on the being returning.
Scott Coleridge: Everyone else, try to be as non-threatening as possible. No weapons. No sudden movements. No jokes.
Chirakis: Being> Appears, hooded.
Dacia Sandero: ::that was fast::
Chirakis: Being> He removes his hood, then looks at d'Ka, somewhat surprised.
Annisha: @ :: Pulls the cover over her ::
Chirakis: Being> He nods to d'Ka. He holds out a hand to each of them, like he wants to shake hands.
Dacia Sandero: ::Extend her hand out tentatively::
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: :: watching with interest ::
mimipavilion: ::thinks of what she could be missing::
Alexis McFarland: @ ::pulls up her cover as well, and moves closer to both of them for warmth::
Tarisa: ::Her tail can't help but lash back and forth.::
Cptn d'Ka: ::takes the alien's hand:::
Dacia Sandero: ~ Hello, I wish you well too.
Cptn d'Ka: :::then straightens up, surprised:::
Dacia Sandero: :;says to the Being after it greeted her::
Chirakis: What is it doing?
Dacia Sandero: He seems to be friendly, he just greeted me and wished me well.
Johnson Kenyon: ::continues running checks on the main sensor array... cannot stop thinking about the being::
Cptn d'Ka: And to me.
Tarisa: Tactile telepathy?
Cptn d'Ka: ::turns:: Possibly. No.. more probably.
Chirakis: Being> Smiles.
Scott Coleridge: Fascinating.
Scott Coleridge: Maybe we're getting somewhere.
Chirakis: Being> Then a long string of information comes to Dacia and d'Ka find out where they are from, how they got here, and what they want from the humans on this side of the galaxy.
Dacia Sandero: ::tries to convey that we mean him no harm::
Cptn d'Ka: ::amazed::: Indeed we are, Commander.
Dacia Sandero: Yes. That's true.
Chirakis: ACTION> He pulls on his hood and vanishes.
Cptn d'Ka: ::looks to Dacia:: Information? Did you receive the same?
Dacia Sandero: Yes, I did Captain.
mimipavilion: ::takes a seat and is in a bit of a mind fog::
Dacia Sandero: I believe so, yes.
Cdr Wyatt Cayne: Can we visit them?
Tarisa: :;Curious look.::
Cptn d'Ka: ::turns to Scott:: Commander, there is much information to pass on. Too much for one session.
Chirakis: ::Scott:: Then, several?
Johnson Kenyon: ::taking his time in his checks::
Scott Coleridge: ::nods:: First contact is usually a gradual road.
Scott Coleridge: Let's just be satisfied we've made progress.
Chirakis: =/\==/\=PAUSE SIM=/\==/\=
Chirakis: =/\==/\=PAUSE SIM=/\==/\=
Chirakis: 9/28/18
Chirakis: Thank you.
Chirakis: Slow progress, but still progress.
Chirakis: Commander, TBS?
Scott Coleridge: I think we all need some time to recover and regroup, so let's say an hour.
Chirakis: Agreed.
Scott Coleridge: I bet that took a lot out of the telepaths
Cptn d'Ka: Indeed it did.  Overload.
Dacia Sandero: Yes
Chirakis: The price you pay for working with humans?
Cptn d'Ka: ::sighs::
Chirakis: Anything more for the crew?
Chirakis: Anything from the crew? Questions or ideas?
Chirakis: Seeing none...
Chirakis: Crew dismissed. Be well. Be Safe. Don’t forget your towel.
