USS Challenger - September 21, 2018

Cptn Ja'Lale: USS Challenger Mission Brief - 21 Sep 2018: The Challenger has been recalled from its mission in the Arcadian system to investigate an attack on a Federation colony on the outskirts of the Romulan Neutral Zone. Challenger is now approaching this system, via the magic of television. TBS was.. what did I say, 12 hours? Or whatever it was. Any questions?

Cptn Ja'Lale: BEGIN SIM
Cptn Ja'Lale: BEGIN SIM

Hunter Matheson: ::helm::
Dyan Sylvanis: :;At tactical.::
Cptn Ja'Lale: Take us out of warp, please.
Hunter Matheson: Dropping from warp, aye. ::puts on the brakes::
Dvokr chim Hok: :: Sitting at Ops ::
Caitlin Townshend: ::has tasked her underlings to come up with any enhancements they can to sensors to help with analyzing the colony and possibly detecting those pesky cloaked ships::
Hunter Matheson: ::all the pretty streaks are gone and the planets are a little more clear::
Cptn Ja'Lale: The colony is on a small moon orbiting the 6th planet of this system. There's a fairly large dilithium mine here, which is where I would suspect most damage occurred.
Hunter Matheson: Zeroing in on the 6th planet. Changing course.
Caitlin Townshend: I'm not detecting any recent warp trails.
Hunter Matheson: ::blows out a sigh of relief:::
Cptn Ja'Lale: ::nods:: That's good to hear
Dyan Sylvanis: ::Keeping an eye on the sensors.::
Dvokr chim Hok: No communication from the system...
Hunter Matheson: Approaching the 6th planet.
Cptn Ja'Lale: Initiate a geosynchronous orbit around that moon.
Caitlin Townshend: Scanning the surface now.
Cptn Ja'Lale: Scan for life signs on the colony, as well.
Hunter Matheson: Initiating geo-synch orbit around the moon, aye.
Dyan Sylvanis: Still nothing on sensors as far as hostiles go.
Hunter Matheson: ::taps out the order, half hoping there aren't any bodies::
Caitlin Townshend: Scanning for life signs too, sir.
Cptn Ja'Lale: ACTION: There are some faint signs of life in some of the buildings - there is major damage in the mining operation as well at a farming area as well.
Dvokr chim Hok: :: taps :: Sensors show limited signs of light at some of the facilities.
Caitlin Townshend: Definitely an attack.
Hunter Matheson: ::mutters something he shouldn't about Romulans::
Hunter Matheson: Close in orbit, Captain?
Cptn Ja'Lale: ::nods:: Yes, please.
Caitlin Townshend: I'm having trouble isolating weapons signatures, but the pattern is consistent with an orbital assault.
Hunter Matheson: Aye, sir. Moving to close-in orbit. ::takes her down::
Dyan Sylvanis: ::Nods in agreement.:: Chances are they didn't even know until it was too late.
Cptn Ja'Lale: ACTION: There doesn't seem to be any electricity coming from the surface. Comms and computer banks seemed to have heavily targeted
Cptn Ja'Lale: I'd say that's a fair assessment
Dvokr chim Hok: No other vessels in the vicinity, that we can detect.
Hunter Matheson: Holding position, low orbit, over the colony.
Hunter Matheson: ::any lower and she'd become scrap on the ground::
Caitlin Townshend: Looks like whoever did this hit their technological infrastructure fairly hard.
Hunter Matheson: Going to stationkeeping.
Cptn Ja'Lale: ACTION: Other than the main buildings in the mining colony, the enemy fire also was concentrated on the dilithium mines themselves.
Caitlin Townshend: I'm not picking up generator signatures. The few lifesigns I'm detecting are weak, mostly clustered in some surviving farm buildings.
Cptn Ja'Lale: ::Nods:: I See. Let's try to classify all the life signs we can detect... we'll need to boost sensors to try to scan into the mines
Dyan Sylvanis: Shall I have a security and medical team ready to send down?
Cptn Ja'Lale: ::Nods:: Yes, please. Concentrate around the main settlement.
Caitlin Townshend: Beginning mine scans now.
Dyan Sylvanis: ::Nods, as she sends word to have a team formed.::
Dvokr chim Hok: Looking for a suitable landing site, if we choose to get closer.
Cptn Ja'Lale: ACTION: Initial scans indicate at least two dozen life signs in the mines though it is difficult to scan deeper into the mines.
Dyan Sylvanis: A team has been assembled. Awaiting transport.
Caitlin Townshend: I can't penetrate too deeply into the mines. The weapons fire has ionized the surface layer of dilithium; there is a lot of interference.
Caitlin Townshend: I've got about two dozen life signs in the mine, humanoid.
Dvokr chim Hok: I have alerted medical.
Cptn Ja'Lale: ACTION: The mines have suffered considerable damage and have trapped the miners, about 50 metres deep into the surface.
Dvokr chim Hok: We may need additional methods of retrieving those trapped.
Hunter Matheson: ::itching to go down cause he's TCCC qualified::
Dyan Sylvanis: The team is ready. Shall we beam them down?
Cptn Ja'Lale: Work with whomever you can to get whatever supplies or assistance you can. And yes ::to Dyan:: If your team is ready, then please beam them down.
Dyan Sylvanis: ::Lowers shields to allow beaming. Once the team is away, shields are brought back up.::
Cptn Ja'Lale: ACTION: Medical & security teams beam down to the surface, and begin to tend to the wounded there.
Caitlin Townshend: I've got the lifesigns isolated to 3 connected caverns about 50 metres below the surface, but I can't see any open shafts.
Cptn Ja'Lale: Hm, so we'll need to think of a way to get them out. ::rubs chin::
Dvokr chim Hok: They must have collapsed.. we need to determine....who did this.

Cptn Ja'Lale: PAUSE SIM
Cptn Ja'Lale: PAUSE SIM

Cptn Ja'Lale: Good job everyone. We'll pick up from there next week..
