Don't mind A9...  when he forgets his Rogaine he can be a little crabby.

You sure you don't mean his Viagra?

::still sighing and scribbling in his PADD::

... b-a-s-s

Yup, that'll do it!

Maybe just some cookies in the mail to your GM's RL address (I'm kidding on that one).

::setting up a PO Box address ASAP::

As for the topic of graduated ensigns participating and hogging academy slots...  Oh please, hog away!  Believe it or not, I remember my cadet days very well, and jumping into a game with a lot of experienced players was not only fun, it was vital.  I needed their example to figure out what to do, and their experience and humor made the game enough fun that I kept coming back for more.

As Jami said, the posting GM's have no problem putting graduates in "assistant" positions, despite their heartfelt pleas for "admiral."  (Although the cookies might change the rules).  It *would* make it easier if graduates volunteered for lower spots, but hey, if you want to take a chief spot now and then to have fun, eh, I don't see any harm.  Your job as chief would be to involve the cadets under you ANYway - thus helping them as well.  Neat, huh?

If we run into an over-crowding problem on any given Academy time, I can't imagine many graduates making a fuss if asked to forgo the hour to let the cadets play, right?

Advanced Academies is an intriguing idea and something that might be fun to consider in the future when we have the staff and foundation to support it.  I have always felt that the Academies should be a fun game in themselves, and not just a thing used to graduate from.

forgo play!?!? hmmm... this seems to be where GM creativity is called for... like filling up the most important department on the ship - the janitorial staff - with everyone above the rank of Lt. (yay Fred!)

Didn't we try that once, Garnoopy? If I am not mistaking, matter and antimatter is the first thing duct tape ever came across that it couldn't hold. :o Believe me, it wasn't a pretty sight! :D

::boggling at the long list of posts:: Webmaster, darling, God of the Message Boards... is there some way, any way, to mark a couple of pages of posts read, so as to be able to find where you left off in a topic as long as this one?

Yes, that would be nice. Like the ability to check of which posts in a topic you've read or something.

Well, what I do is to read the posts that were new from my last visit (the blue ST symbol at the Board name) and then, when I'm done, I will go back to the main screen for the Boards, scroll to the bottom and click the "Mark all topics as Old" link.  This will set them all to be "read" by me and so the next time I come in, I'll know what I've read before and what I haven't.  yes? no?  Webmaster, am I doing this right?

Also...  A9 is correct still too...  the blue combadges on the catagory lists indicate there are new posts in that area's forums.   I'll be changing the icon image next to the last post column on the topic lists to a different color to make it easier to find new posts too.  :D

it's ok hyperdrive it's not you it's every one heres why

because a9 and webmaster and whoever else is a superadmin/admin they have specific tools that they use for the chat room/ message boards so it's not a problem with the message boards and dont feel stupid it's a common question

And there is only 3 people in STSF who have access to the Admin CP...  A9, Sovak, and myself.  A9 is the big cheese, Sovak is the asst. big cheese, and I'm some web dude (who is sometimes just cheesy).   :)

The members of the GM Council have comeplete access to the ModCP, and have permission to edit/delete posts in any forum.

Boy...  that'll teach me to watch what I show off in the future.    :)
