I think its pretty awful that people have so much time on their hands to give a poor kid death threats over a ball game when he was not even the only one reaching out for the ball. Whats is this world coming to when you're willing to kill some over baseball.

Hey there,

 

Well, as for the fan who got that ball, he's been offered an all expenses paid three month vacation a place about 25 miles north of me. We're talking air, hotel, dining, etc. Even the Governor is looking into offering him a job. So...he could always disappear here in Florida. :D

 

As for the Cubs...let's keep things in perspective now.

• Last time they went to the World Series, the R.M.S. Titanic was under construction.
  
• The last time the Cubs won the Pennant, the United States was involved in something called World War II. This has since led to some saying "We'll just wait until the next war."
  
• The Florida Marlins have only existed for 11 years. This will be their 2nd visit to the World Series. :D

Ok, just for the record here ...

 

1)  The Cubs won 6 out of 12 games in the post-season.  That's pretty good.

2)  They're still the 4th, maybe 3rd best baseball team in America at the moment.

3)  Yes, the got creamed in game 6.  But didn't they win game 3 by 8 or 9 runs?

 

We had a lot of fun here in Chicago with our favorite "boys of summer" in the play-off games.  If they could do that every year, I'd be happy.  Even if they never made it to the series. : )

 

Go Cubs!  Just wait 'til next year.

 

P.S. Congratulations Fred and all you other folks in Florida.  You can't vote worth beans, but you have a great baseball team.  The Marlins did a super job.

Actually, that picture is not too far away from how voting was actually done when "voting machines" were first introduced.  

 

Using these "machines" one would drop a white marble into a chute to vote "yes" on an issue.  These chutes would lead to a collection bin.  If one wished to vote "no" they would drop a black marble into another chute.  These machines were only useful if the choice was "yes" or "no".  A race with more than 2 candidates couldn't use it.  

 

Various secret societies, however, used this device to decide who to admit to membership.  A white marble meant that the person voting had no problem admitting the candidate to full membership.  A black marble meant someone had a problem.  One black marble stood out pretty well in a bin of white marbles (while at the same time making the voting process annonymous) and the candidate would not be admitted to membership - hence the term "black-balled".

Hey I just noticed something this is exactly like the civil war the Yankees fighting a type of fish :D and families fighting between eachother for to decide on each side my goodness how history likes to repeat itself :D
