Ensign Garnoopy Personal Log

Stardate e 50212.15

Ahhh, another day aboard the wondrous Manticore. I must admit, she is a larger ship than I realized. I had no idea until I finally got out of the shuttle bay, but now I'm realizing it's true size and power.

Well, sitting at the conference table, we discussed Colonel Klutz, oh, excuse me, Colonel Kurtz. I just cannot get his name right. Klutz is stuck in my head. :: Shakes head :: Oh well, I'll try to get the name right.

Anyways, we discussed the situation about Kurtz. Captain Sovak and Commodore Atragon requested I scan the surface, but not allow Kurtz to detect the scans. Well, I had to point out if this guy was a member of this special ops group then he's gonna have some pretty sophisticated stuff down there. Due to that, I have recommended we do not attempt any form of scan that sends any signals down to the planet. We don't want to risk getting caught. So, I was ordered to be "innovative". :: Chuckles ::

I headed down to engineering, when I remembered the Manticore has an astrometrics lab. A wondrous little room with the biggest TV in this sector. It's a wondrous place to play with sensor systems. I headed off and kept thinking about how to get surface information without setting off any alarms.

Suddenly I had a wondrous little thought. Instead of using all of our sophistication and powerful sensors, why not just take pictures? Then, our sophisticated computer can analyze them and note anything odd. Captain Sovak agreed, and I proceeded with the photography.

The speedy computer took pictures of a 200 km square area and then analyzed them, turning up quite a few strange things. I downloaded the information into a report and headed off to the bridge.

The pictures showed that there could be several cold fusion reactors on the planet, along with several other suspicious looking buildings. There was even a large circular building about the size of the Manticore, which is very very large for a prewarp civilization.

Unfortunately, all of these building assumptions are speculation. If I can get close enough to the buildings, I can easily figure out what they are, but from the ship, can't help anyone out. Anyways, guess I'll see what happens.
