 USS REPUBLIC MISSION BRIEFING - 51803.26 - SEASON 26

 USS REPUBLIC MISSION BRIEFING - 51803.26 - SEASON 26

The crew, having discussed what their findings could mean, have come to the conclusion that there may have been some tiny fragments from a neutron star's implosion, that may have been carried to the planet by a meteor or comet that had struck the planet at some time in it's past. This could explain some of the disruptions, magnetic fluxes, odd occurrences. The team is researching its possible origin, as well as how we proceed to keep these colonists safe

 BEGIN SIM

STSF_BluRox: Rue, I believe you were asking if anyone had tried cleaning up something of this size. The answer is no. There have only been 2 other documented cases that were thought to be something similar, but the sites were abandoned in early colonization. It may be that it wasn't a major issue until they stared terraforming the issue here

STSF Seiben: ::looking at an overlay of the planet in astrometric::

Rue Wydown: And I don't suppose suggesting they relocate elsewhere will work. ::frowns::

STSF_BluRox: However, I do have a question, we checked out the sites that the one group had mentioned, however the other colonist/terraformers had also reported that they had been having issues as well. However, we've not really followed up on that site. Did anyone gather any information hear the planetary food distribution warehouse

STSF_BluRox: If I recall, they too had experienced some power and equipment failures, but had also reported increasing frequency of the shimmering lights

Rue Wydown: We had not the chance to do so. We had away team issues. ::thinking of someone's broken ankle::

Heather Jamieson: :: Looking at Wydown ::

STSF_BluRox: Noted...perhaps we could get a few readings from up here, request an update, or if need be, take a quick trip down to follow up

STSF Seiben: (I thought you were in astrometric Heather)

Heather Jamieson: (think I was, scratch that then)

STSF_BluRox: lol

Heather Jamieson: I felt something funny Seiben

STSF Seiben: Is it your meds?

STSF_BluRox: Speaking of those shimmering lights Rue, had your away team spent much time scanning them, trying to determine what they were?

STSF_BluRox: (sorry, just realized this was a Jax thing....::pulls out the Cardboard Jax:: )

Heather Jamieson: I am on pain medication, so my thoughts are...not my own to some extent.

STSF Seiben: Hm, that's some meds they gave you.

Rue Wydown: Our overnight scans were inconclusive. However, with the data Holly was able to collect, I'm speculating that were residual effect of the anomaly she picked up on

STSF_BluRox: Holly> I can take a further look at the scans Commander Jax had taken at the dam and on the plateau.....but information from the other site would be helpful

Heather Jamieson: What an odd formation on this planet.

STSF_BluRox: Holly> it almost seemed like there was some sort of residual interference with each of the readings we had received. I'm still looking into it.

STSF Seiben: Yes, it certainly is.

Heather Jamieson: I have to wonder if this is solvable or perhaps moving is easier.

STSF_BluRox: Holly> :: launch a probe to that area and continue the reading::

Heather Jamieson: Truthfully though I messed up the entire mission due to my ankle

STSF Seiben: I was gonna say anything, but maybe it would've been better If we stayed in the shuttle?

STSF_BluRox: Holly> I can do that. I believe that when we first arrived, some data had been sent and Jax was going to review it. I'll request she send me that info to add

STSF Seiben: How is your ankle by the way?

Heather Jamieson: It feels...funny.

STSF_BluRox: (your funny bone is located in your arm, not your ankle! lol)

Heather Jamieson: Tried to get some advanced readings....and I don't like being around Jax at all. I don't know why I don't request a transfer. She is very stressful to have around.

STSF_BluRox: Holly> :: appears back on the bridge:: I found the same interference in the readings from the other site, but much much stronger when the shimmering is reported

Heather Jamieson: I think we'd have to solve this before actual fighting breaks out with these people.

STSF Seiben: I agree with the latter statement.

STSF_BluRox: Holly> May I put this on the main viewer?

STSF_BluRox: Yes, Rue, let's get the rest of your away team up and see if they make any sense of this noise

Heather Jamieson: Our luck we disrupted an unknown lifeform.

STSF Seiben: Bad luck I'd say.

Rue Wydown: +Seiben and Jamieson+ Away team, please report to the conference room immediately.

STSF Seiben: +Rue+ Aye sir.

STSF Seiben: Well, let's do this. Or not,

STSF_BluRox: (if you chose not, I'm sure Rue will skin you both alive)

Heather Jamieson: This ole ankle it to report to the conference room. :: gets up and heads out of the lab :: I like your realistic attitude,

STSF Seiben: Just keeping it real.

Heather Jamieson: :: Time passes and Jamieson and Seiben arrive at the conference room. Then enter... ::

STSF Seiben: ::follows Heather inside::

Heather Jamieson: Reporting as ordered.

Rue Wydown: ::just shakes her head a bit::

STSF_BluRox: Holly sets up the cardboard Jax in the corner

STSF Seiben: ::stands next to Heather::

STSF_BluRox: Ok, thanks for coming back again to discuss this puzzle. Holly has been going over the readings that Rue and Jax had collected, as well as the data that you and Seiben had collected.... looking at Heather:::

Heather Jamieson: :: nods ::

STSF Seiben: ::looks around::

Heather Jamieson: Yes, what to do from here.

STSF_BluRox: Have you been able to work out any possible exploding stars or supernova that materials could have been ejected from or carried here? ::looks at Heather and Seiben:::

Heather Jamieson: Any explosion would have happened a long time ago. :: Pulls up a map on the display in the conference room LL

STSF Seiben: ::glad the Science Girl is taking the lead here::

STSF_BluRox: Yes, that we know, we're just wondering if thee could be any corresponding data on meteors or comet may have also frequented those same areas..

Heather Jamieson: I do have a timeline of meteor and comet paths for this region over the past few years, both calculated and observed..

STSF_BluRox: Holly> Admiral, Captain...if I may. I believe that the interference we were picking up, might actually be some sort of ...message or communication?

STSF_BluRox: A message? From who?

STSF Seiben: (a Nigerian Prince lol)

Heather Jamieson: I wondered that, but I can't parse the data as fast as Holly.

Rue Wydown: A message? ::quirks her eyebrow::

PAUSE SIM

PAUSE SIM

PAUSE SIM

Heather Jamieson: I need to get 500 bars of gold pressed latinum out of Ferengnar...

STSF_BluRox: Ok, so next week, we'll look into this message more

STSF_BluRox: Rue, you have anything before I dismiss?

Rue Wydown: Nothing from me tonight

STSF_BluRox: CREW DISMISSED. See you all on Thursday!
