 USS Republic Mission Briefing 51803.19 - Season 26

 USS Republic Mission Briefing 51803.19 - Season 26

The senior officers had been discussing what the computer and Holly had made of the data they had returned, and it was the group's hypothesis that at some point, a comet or meteor had hit the planet, and had possibly contained fragments from an exploding neutron star, that must have had enough acceleration and mass to escape the forming black hole.

Heather and Seiben were going to Astrometrics to see if they could doe some scans of the planet to see if they could see more information about where the impact was, while August and Rue were going to discuss options with Blu.

STSF_BluRox: :: In the conference room looking at the data and the maps of various incidents overlays

STSF Seiben: ::heading to astrometrics with Heather::

Heather Jamieson: Funny, astrometrics is where I spend most of my cartography time.

STSF Seiben: Hmm, interesting.

Rue Wydown: Funny how these things always seemed to cause problems in the weirdest ways

STSF_BluRox: (funny, I thought you spent most of that time in sickbay)

STSF Seiben: (lol)

Heather Jamieson: (( Rimshot ))

STSF_BluRox: (NO!! Weatherman saying that perhaps we are getting more than 12...that's how he started last week....I'm going to a new channel and an better weatherman!)

Heather Jamieson: :: Enters astrometrics ::

STSF Seiben: (Wow, so much snow.)

STSF Seiben: ::Follows Heather::

STSF_BluRox: Jax, can you see if Commander Wydown is free yet to join us?

Rue Wydown: ((Suddenly I'm not so sad about our rain here))

Heather Jamieson: The biggest display on the ship ::

August Jax Robinson: Of Course, is she in her office or manning the Bridge?

STSF_BluRox: (( :-p

STSF Seiben: Yes, it's very nice and 360

STSF_BluRox: I believe she was on a rest rotation, she should be up from her nap

STSF_BluRox: and if not...that' why I have 'you' calling her..... rank does have its small privileges

Heather Jamieson: :: Starts typing quickly. A globe of the planet below appears holographically::

Heather Jamieson: One can get motion sickness here... zooming in...

STSF Seiben: ::watches, standing next to Heather:: Yeah, I don't doubt it. I'm fine for now.

STSF_BluRox: @ Holly in Astrometrics> Come tp play with the globe?

Rue Wydown: ;:yawns as she comes off the lift, glancing at the bridge crew, hoping no one saw that::

August Jax Robinson: +Rue+ Sir, are you ready to begin our work?

Heather Jamieson: Just how the program starts... now we are floating above our site.

STSF Seiben: The site we camped at?

STSF Seiben: Hard to tell with all this foliage

Heather Jamieson: It will play in a loop from the start of the scans.

Rue Wydown: +Robinson+ Oi, I guess so. Where can I meet you all? ::rubs her right eye::

STSF_BluRox: Holly> ::let's her dabble so not to bruise the human's feelings::

STSF Seiben: ::nods:: All right

STSF_BluRox: Jax, just ask her to join us here....:: sniffs:: Smells like Holly made us a snack:: Walks over to the replicator and picks up the plate of honey buttered toast and the pot of tea::

Heather Jamieson: Searching for substructures underground.

STSF_BluRox: Oh thank the stars....I can get a cup of this before Rue orders that ....stuff she passes off as tea,..

STSF_BluRox: :: quickly pours herself a cup and moves the hot pot and trivet over to Jax

STSF Seiben: ::looking at the view screen intently::

STSF_BluRox: Cardboard Jax> :: messages Rue to meet them in the conference room

Rue Wydown: ::heads on in the conference room, padd under one arm, whistling a merry tune::

August Jax Robinson: +Rue+ I am in the Conference room when you are ready

STSF_BluRox: (I bought an iced tea on the way home, only drank half of it, wishing it was hot tea now)

Rue Wydown: ::taking a seat at the table:: I can safely report, I witness no bridge crew members sticking gum under their console.

Heather Jamieson: :: Twists the display to show a cross-section :: Hmm... Too bad I'm not a geologist.

August Jax Robinson: they might fall apart if fresh Gum isn't added

STSF Seiben: I just drive ships and press buttons

STSF_BluRox: Holly>:: sighs at the two of them::

Heather Jamieson: That worked so well for my friend Kasuga.

STSF Seiben: Hm, yes.

STSF_BluRox: Blu> :: sighs that the two she's with

STSF_BluRox: Holly> :: turns to Heather:: Did you sleep thru her whole trial?

STSF Seiben: Kasuga> ::relaxing at a beach somewhere on Earth, drinking a cocktail in a coconut cup::

STSF_BluRox: Holly> she's lucky she wasn't locked away for years

Rue Wydown: I think that duct tape works better than gum

STSF_BluRox: Blu> I don't even want to know....

STSF Seiben: I just have to remember not to speed

Heather Jamieson: You have an interesting AI program Holly.

STSF Seiben: ::Says nothing, remembers what his cousin told him about Holly::

August Jax Robinson: ::starts looking over her padd::

STSF_BluRox:Holly> I am not a program Cadet

Rue Wydown: As long as I don't catch someone using washi tape on a console, I'm fine

STSF Seiben: ::Space Janitor Heather::

August Jax Robinson: Holly, has anyone from the planet tried to contact us since we left?

STSF_BluRox: Ok....so let's get you caught up Rue. Short guess by Holly, is the planet got hit by a meteor or comet as some point, and that she thinks from the data that was collected, that there is some evidence that perhaps some fragments from an exploding neutron star were buried in the crust upon impact

Rue Wydown: That'd explain the readings we got and the weirdness. How large of an impact field was it?

August Jax Robinson: ::Pulls up old scans of the are and compares them to the resent one's that were taken:: I wonder if that impact moved the planet and rotation

STSF_BluRox: Holly> one second... +Jax+ Yea, same stuff from the leaders of both of the Terra forming groups, still complaining that the other side is trying to sabotage them

STSF_BluRox: Jax, pull up those scan's Holly sent us of the plateau... we're guessing it mainly hit here.. :: pointing to the almost crater look of the upper plateau, and the small basins where the dam had been built and the large food storage location

Heather Jamieson: An impact fragment.

STSF_BluRox: Holly was unable to correlate anything to guess what the shimmering lights could be coming from

Heather Jamieson: A more than normally concentration of protons.

August Jax Robinson: ::Pulls up images and puts the on the mini screen in there::

Heather Jamieson: It may be reacting to natural elements in the plateau.

STSF Seiben: That's a possibility.

Rue Wydown: Could that possible be some sort of residual dust? Or chemical reaction in the air?

STSF_BluRox: Holly> Ok, so the Admiral and the others are looking at the planet, as we've already pulled those views up....what she wanted you two to work on...is to correlate with the computer and try to determine what star went Nova , a neutron star, and most likely formed a black hole.

STSF_BluRox: Holly> It will take some time and searching, but try to match the energy amplitudes, I've already have been scanning, but this needs someone’s full attention, I'm also working on some other possibilities

Heather Jamieson: But what to do if that is the case?

STSF_BluRox: Holly> Can you two handle it? I'd start with 'known' nova information and extrapolate from there to rule out those that do not match

STSF Seiben: Ooh black hole. I'll do my best.

STSF_BluRox: (don't let your work suck you in Seiben)

STSF Seiben: (I'll try not to lol)

STSF Seiben: (that would.. suck)

STSF_BluRox: it's possible, Holly is trying to cross reference against any previous type of encounters

August Jax Robinson: I think the planet might have shifted when it was hit

Heather Jamieson: :: nods ::

STSF_BluRox: But, what I wanted to discuss with you two.....is if we find that we do have dark matter fragments buried in the crust, is there any way to expose if and if so, will it just kill u

STSF_BluRox: you

STSF_BluRox: We need to figure out if they can remain here with this, is there anything that can be done about it safely, if not, anything done at all?

August Jax Robinson: The ground may be contaminated as well, it might be safe to eat if it does grow

STSF_BluRox: And if not, and evacuation plan, but I'm almost certain they'll just accuse us of trying to take over their planet and resources

August Jax Robinson: *not

STSF Seiben: ::starts search up information about the recent astrological files on this area of space:::

Rue Wydown: Has anyone attempted a cleanup of a site this size?

STSF_BluRox: We've got no records of this small of an amount, any evidence of larger fragments, has...well...worked its way into the mantle and core, and destroyed the planet. , we've only been able to study examples after the fact, nothing in progress.

STSF_BluRox: (Search farther out Sieben, we'd not want to be in the same sector as a black hole)

Heather Jamieson: :: Gets records for the planet's changes over time ::

STSF Seiben: (cool, will do)

STSF Seiben: ::expands his search to cover several more sectors::

Heather Jamieson: (Search your feelings, for you know it to be true)

Rue Wydown: So this isn't going to be easy, is it?

August Jax Robinson: is it ever easy?

STSF Seiben: This should be a good range here.

Rue Wydown: No, no it isn't

Heather Jamieson: :: Wondering how to repair this planet... ::

STSF_BluRox: PAUSE SIM

STSF_BluRox: PAUSE SIM

STSF_BluRox: PAUSE SIM

August Jax Robinson: ::Paused:::

STSF_BluRox: Good sim, let's figure out where these particles may have come from, and determine the final impact this will have on the planet

STSF_BluRox: Ok, any questions bedfore we stop?

Heather Jamieson: Could have been Hawking radiation.

Heather Jamieson: None here.. Good to know Jax still likes me.

Rue Wydown: Nothing from me

August Jax Robinson: when did I say that?!

STSF_BluRox: ok then..so for now, Crew Dismissed, See you all on Thursday
