Engineer's Duty Log

(( I'm on the road... sorry for the shortness and the delayed sending. :P ))

EDIT: Sky Harbor Aegis does not have internal docking capabilities. Since I was away, I did not have access to my specifications about the station. This was an error on my part, and I am sorry for any inconvenience.

Duty Log:

Lieutenant, Junior Grade, Hewitt Demore

Acting Chief Engineer

Stardate 50310.09

Almost all changes for the docking pylon to support the old Cardassian ship enroute to Sky Harbor Aegis have been completed. Ensign Zertz, and other members of the team, have been assisting in this. Everything should be ready by the estimated time of arrival for the spacecraft.

Several individual pylon connections needed to be exchanged for better, more reliable (and more advanced) features. This conversion took little time, and caused no problems within the pylon system. An inner-docking system has also been arranged, capable of housing the Cardassian ship inside of Aegis for a given amount of time. This will allow my teams, plus teams from other departments (primarily Science) to run scans and tests easier. Worker bees have also been dispatched, and are prepared to assist in the unmanned docking of the ship.

The pylon to be used for docking this craft is Pylon 9. To bring the ship inside of Aegis, Bay 7 will be used. Current schedules indicate that neither Pylon 9 or Bay 7 will be in use for docking or service in the near future. Since no one is sure how long the Cardassian ship will be docked with Aegis, these areas appear to be a logical choice for long-term docking.

The biggest problem Engineering teams are facing is trying to determine the size of this specific Galor- class vessel. Cardassians made several modifications to this type of ship, and three different docking styles were used during the Galor period aboard Cardassian space stations. There were also some size differences, but these differences are expected not to cause any problems with docking either outside the station (on Pylon 9) or inside the station (in Bay 7). All sources state that Bay 7 will be large enough for docking. With any luck, the Engineering modifications will work just as they are suppose to.
