 USS REPUBLIC MISSION BRIEFING 51712.12 - SEASON 26

 USS REPUBLIC MISSION BRIEFING 51712.12 - SEASON 26

Alrighty...so we left off last week with Rue going one direction, Jax working on the shuttle systems, Holly scanning from the ship while Blu is still taken ill, and our intrepid hikers, who decided prior to dusk, that rather than turn back and sleep at the shuttle and get a fresh start in the morning, that they were going to camp on their 7-mile hike up into the mountains,as they did not want to have to cover ground they had already hiked. The sun has just set and the last vestiges of daylight are fading.

STSF_BluRox: BEGIN SIM

STSF_BluRox: BEGIN SIM

STSF_BluRox: BEGIN SIM

STSF_BluRox: Holly> @ ::targeting on the areas the AT has given for the ship to scan from orbit and see if they are able to pick up anything::

August Jax Robinson: ::Following Rue, phaser in hand - annoyed::

STSF Seiben: ::follows Heather::

Rue Wydown: ((Hey Jax - I don't think we went far from the shuttle. If I read this correctly, the other two hiked on?))

STSF Seiben: (That's what I understood)

August Jax Robinson: {{{Nervous with my phaser pointed at your back?}}

STSF_BluRox: (Rue went to look the other direction while Jax was working on the ship, she could have joined you. Heather and Seiben decided to keep heading towards the objective, which was about a 7-mile hike up into the mountains...at night)

Rue Wydown: ((Just a bit))

STSF_BluRox: (and noted at the end of last week’s sim, in doing so......

STSF_BluRox: Let's just say, there will be a substantial negative roll versus .....oh say....surviving.. lol)

August Jax Robinson: ::walks up next to Rue:: how long was this hike again?

STSF Seiben: I don't think this was a good idea..

Rue Wydown: Back to the shuttle? Just a few minutes. ::tucking her PADD away:: With luck the boys are back with some news.

Heather Jamieson: :: Walking with Seiben, scanning all the while ::

August Jax Robinson: no how long until we reach a town or something?

ACTION: There is only a sliver of each of the 2 moons showing this night. The shuttle had gotten several miles up into the mountains, but still had quite a distance to go, but as they had been told, machinery did not function correctly in a an area up above the lake

STSF Seiben: It's pretty dark, should we head back to the shuttle??

Rue Wydown: That depends. How did you do with getting the shuttle working? ::pushes back a tree branch, retracing her steps back to the shuttle::

Heather Jamieson: I am up for either.

STSF Seiben: Let's head back. We won''t make it to our destination in the dark

August Jax Robinson: I was able to get minimal systems going, replicator, lights, heat and comm's

STSF Seiben: We'll try again in the morning

STSF Seiben: morning*

Rue Wydown: ::steps back into the clearing where the shuttle is:: So it looks like we'll be here for the night.

STSF Seiben: ::looks at his tricorder:: We still have about 11km to go

August Jax Robinson: wonderful

ACTION: Heather and Seiben are about 3 miles up the mountain from the shuttle, and 4 miles from their destination. It is virtually pitch black with lots of loose footing

Rue Wydown: We've got food, shelter and water. And Holly watching out for us. What more could we need? ::amused by this adventure::

STSF Seiben: Oh sorry.. my tricorder GPS just updated. We're halfway between shuttle and mountain. Still think it's better to head back to the shuttle and continue in the morning.

August Jax Robinson: {{{Boooo}}

STSF Seiben: (awww)

August Jax Robinson: {{half way! don't be a sissy... keep going}}

STSF Seiben: (But I don't wanna!)

STSF_BluRox: (there is a major dice roll in my favor either way.....)

Heather Jamieson: We should settle for the night.

STSF Seiben: Where can we shelter? I have some Ration Packs in my bag.

Rue Wydown: ACTION>Loose footing equals loose rocks.

STSF Seiben: Well, you're the scientist and ranking officer. You got a tent in there? Or should we built something or find a cave...

STSF_BluRox: ((no no boys and girls..you walked off with your tricorders, you do not get a magic tent)

STSF Seiben: (expected as much)

August Jax Robinson: {{Naked and afraid doesn't get a tent or clothes}}

Heather Jamieson: We should find somewhere we can rest. :: Looks at her scans ::

Rue Wydown: ((This is not Harry Potter. No magic wands either))

STSF_BluRox: (let's pass on the naked and just stay with afraid)

Rue Wydown: Hey, you up for popcorn and a movie? ::glances at Jax:: If this thing has enough juice?

STSF Seiben: Maybe we should've stayed in the shuttle? Oh well, too late now.

STSF_BluRox: (remember, tricorders were having issues even when you left the shuttle, they continue to have lapses in picking up information)

STSF Seiben: I agree. My tricorder doesn't have good reception.

August Jax Robinson: {{Agree Blu  }}

STSF Seiben: (like my cellphone service provider lol)

STSF_BluRox: (thinks the two expert campers are sleeping at the shuttle, while my city boys are off hiking in the dark.....what could go wrong?)

August Jax Robinson: {{BRB - Refill}}

STSF Seiben: (yeah, I haven't gone camping in almost 20 years... it shows doesn't it  )

Rue Wydown: ((and I was camping 2 weeks ago.))

Heather Jamieson: :: Looks around ::

: ACTION: As darkness has taken hold, the temperature continues to drop and it has become a bit uncomfortable

STSF_BluRox: (for you species without fur)

STSF Seiben: ::struggles to find his footing, shining his armlight out in front of him::

August Jax Robinson: <<Bak>>

Rue Wydown: ACTION> Our lead hiker triggers a rock slide of loose gravel that affects the one in the back of this expedition

STSF Seiben: Ahh ::falls;:

STSF Seiben: Oof! ::falls on his butt::

August Jax Robinson: ::Climbs into the Shuttle::: I guess the others made it to town

Heather Jamieson: Ahh! :: falls in sync ::

STSF_BluRox: ACTION: As luck, and my pair of Earth and Stone dice command.... They begin tumbling down the hillside together, and a rather unhealthy crunch is heard.....

STSF_BluRox: (both, give me a roll 1-10)

STSF Seiben: (unlesss.. does KOA count? If so, then 15 years :P )

STSF Seiben: (6)

Heather Jamieson: (4)

STSF_BluRox: now a 1 2 or 3?

STSF Seiben: 2

Heather Jamieson: 1

STSF_BluRox: (Col Mustard, in the Library, with the lead pipe)....oh wait...wrong game....)

Rue Wydown: +Republic+ ::as she's sinking into her chair:: Wydown to Republic.

STSF Seiben: (I live in Toronto.. to me 'rouging it' is staying in a place with no WiFi  )

August Jax Robinson: ((That was my Pick too!!}}

STSF_BluRox: ACTION: As the two of them tumble together, a tree decides to help break their fall.....and evidently.... Heather's ankle

Rue Wydown: Did Seiben or Jamieson tell you how long they'd be gone?

STSF_BluRox: Holly @> +Commander Wydown+ What can we do for you?

Heather Jamieson: :: tears up :: Ah...Seiben....I think it may be broken. It hurts.

STSF Seiben: What is? Uh oh. I think I'm in one piece. I'll help you to a shelter

STSF Seiben: If I can find one.

STSF_BluRox: (It is also bent at a very nasty angle)

Rue Wydown: +Republic+ Hey Holly. Just doing our check in call. I've got two members of my away team who haven't returned to the shuttle. We've got minimal scanners due to the interference here. I'm hoping you guys can scan and let me know that they're still alive and that I don't have to scrap their remains off the side of the mountain in the morning.

Rue Wydown: ((Here's a hint guys - at this point you're going to probably have to build a shelter and not expect to stumble on one in the dark))

STSF Seiben: ;;helps Heather up and walks ahead:: Trees trees and more trees. Almost like a Bob Ross painting.

ACTION: Seiben and Heather are still on the side of a mountain, a bit less then 3 miles from the ship. It is very dark, and very steep

Rue Wydown: ((Google what would Bear Grylls do if you need help))

STSF_BluRox: (ok..you just slid down a hillside, it is still very steep...where is this walking around?)

Rue Wydown: Hey Jax, what movie do you want to watch?

Heather Jamieson: I can't move much Seiben.

August Jax Robinson: Jaws 54?

STSF Seiben: I'll grab some of these branches and vines and try to build some kind of shelter. I sort of remember my Academy Survival Training

Rue Wydown: Is that one where the tornado is full of sharks?

STSF_BluRox: (Seiben, you just got a bonus point that kept you and Heather from falling down the next hill as you tried to help her walk...just for the Bob Ross comment..... )

STSF Seiben: (lol yay))))

Heather Jamieson: I don't think I can move. :: sits ::

STSF Seiben: Stay there, I'll gather up some branches and build a fire

STSF_BluRox: Holly> @+Rue+ We'll run a scan for you, but we've also had some difficulty with that region...hence why your team was sent in, but we'll run a full scan and get right back to you...please hold

August Jax Robinson: no that is sharknado 1 through 233

STSF Seiben: ::Gets some large branches, leaves and vines and sets about building a makeshift shelter::

August Jax Robinson: this is the one where the Shark gets a bigger- bigger boat and tries to race the aussie

Rue Wydown: Ooh, I liked that one. Que it up and I"ll get the popcorn.

STSF_BluRox: (Shame, shame , shame.....somebody doesn't know their Enemy Within TOS episode.....Tos Season 1: ep 5)

August Jax Robinson: ::taps console and pulls up Jaws 54 and 55 if they have time, or are awake!::

STSF_BluRox: (or TNG: Season 4, epi 9, Final Mission...tisk tisk)

Rue Wydown: ::returns after a few moments with buttered popcorn and sodas::

Heather Jamieson: :: Moves over slowly :: Let me help you.

Heather Jamieson: Aww

STSF Seiben: ::sticks the branches in the ground and pulls them together to form a roof:: I wouldn't recommend that. You'll make your ankle worse.

August Jax Robinson: Grape soda, Sweeeeeet

STSF Seiben: ::ties up the branches together with the vines and puts the leaves on top for a little tiny bit of insulation sort of::

STSF Seiben: Maybe can you build a fire?

STSF Seiben: Lots of wood and stuff lying about

Rue Wydown: I could be worried and go charging after the team, get myself lost or hurt. Or I can just chill until morning and then see what happened in the daylight

Heather Jamieson: :: Puts her head in her hands :: I've messed this up, this mission.

STSF_BluRox: HOLLY> @ +Commander Wydown+ Sensors are still having difficulty scanning that area that you were heading towards, as well as that area in the lake near the dam. We have both you and Jax telemetry readings at the shuttle, and are showing much weaker readings about halfway up the mountain from you of two other signs. Both are week, but one seems very off, as if in some sort of stress situation. The LtCmd Jamison is showing some sort of duress if I read this right.

STSF_BluRox: unfortuantly, we cannot beam them out. My suggestion would be to wait until morning and perhaps to check on them, or see if you are able to reach them on your communicators. We've been unable to reach them.

Rue Wydown: +Republic+ I'm not sure our communicators will work without the shuttle boosting them. Send me the coordinates and we'll head out at first light.

August Jax Robinson: +Holly+ Jamison was born in Duress

Heather Jamieson: :: Hugs herself :: It's getting colder.

STSF_BluRox: @+Commander Wydown+ Sending to you know. let us know if you need additional personnel to assist you.

Rue Wydown: We're going to have to pack a survival kit before we leave in the morning.

STSF_BluRox: (I've changed my hometown in the weather channel to Winterfell for the rest of December, next month it goes back to Hoth)

August Jax Robinson: maybe I should stay here... to get the shuttle going again?

Rue Wydown: @+Republic+ Probably going to need additional personnel to help with the search. Can you have them beam down to the dam site and head up in the morning with the local form of transport?

STSF Seiben: ::finishes building the shelter, and starts to build a fire:: It's not much, but I guess it's better than nothing. At least we'll be out of the wind in this spot

STSF_BluRox: @ Holly> + We'll have to send another shuttle, we're still unable to beam to the dam either, thus your current shuttle

Rue Wydown: Yeah, that's a good idea. But getting a good nice rest will help both of us.

STSF_BluRox: and....

STSF_BluRox: Pause sim

Rue Wydown: +Republic+ Got it. Have them bring extra parts and equipment. Jax can send up a list.

STSF_BluRox: PAUSE SIM

STSF_BluRox: PAUSE SIM

August Jax Robinson: ::Paused::

STSF Seiben: ::Paused::

STSF_BluRox: Bob Ross most likely saved one of your lives tonight....your negative modifier got Heather out of a Double Critical Fail..I rolled a 1, and so did she.....

Rue Wydown: We'll find them frozen in the morning

STSF Seiben:

August Jax Robinson: i love Bob

STSF Seiben: yeah, probably

STSF Seiben: Bob is the man

STSF_BluRox: Well, I gave you both references.......they won't freeze, but they aren't going to feel great either........ Heather's broken ankle however...we'll have to see

Rue Wydown: I gotta head out guys. If I don't see you Thursday - have a Merry Christmas

STSF_BluRox: Ok and with that....Crew Dismissed. Happy Holidays to you all.
