USS Excalibur Sim Log - 10.15.17

MISSION BRIEF: Engineering has returned with their guest in tow to continue working on discovering a cause to the power grid failure. Elsewhere Hunter has, yet again, found himself in need of decontamination.

Cptn Swain: BEGIN SIM

Cptn Swain: BEGIN SIM

Cptn Swain: BEGIN SIM

William Chocox: ::working in Engineering::

Hunter Matheson: ::TV, checking out the gear before departing::

Cptn Swain: ::In science, looking over some data.::

Maryse Dubois: ::Heading back to sickbay after her trip to the bridge.::

Hakran K'hal: Dazim> :: eager to get away from the self-righteous spotted one, grabs a sample of the goo that was bioneural gel at one point and stomps out of the engineering lab and baps the wall panel :: Show me where the medical lab is.

Hakran K'hal: Dazim> :: ignores the droning voice of the computer and follows the guide lights to the nearest lift, waits for it to pop open ::

William Chocox: He seems cheerful.

Hunter Matheson: ::upon exiting the decon unit, he spots decon specs swarming like busy little bees all over Alkaid::

Indaura Ryssan: :: Tending to others in sickbay, cleaning up, checking on the nurses and other doctors there ::

Hakran K'hal: Dazim> :: enters the lift :: Medical laboratory, and don't make any damned side trips.

Hunter Matheson: ::the bay chief meets him half way, explains the situation, and tells him to wait:::

Maryse Dubois: :;Enters sickbay, seeing Indaura handling things.::

Tandaris Admiran: ::Chocox:: Hmm.

Tandaris Admiran: +Dubois+ Admiran to sickbay.

Indaura Ryssan: Doctor :: to Dubois ::

Hunter Matheson: ::he sighs and stands there, wondering how long it will take:: +Hawthorne+ Hawthorne, Matheson. How copy?

Maryse Dubois: ::Curious look.:: +Admiran+ Dubois here. What can I do for you Chief?

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::Still on the bridge, she initiated her comm.:: +Matheson+ Hawthorne here. Go ahead.

Hakran K'hal: Dazim> :: the lift, thankfully, listened to him and he exited the lift and followed the guide lights once again ::

Hunter Matheson: +Hawthorne+ Remember how you asked me if there was a specific pathogen or substance, ma'am? Well....

Tandaris Admiran: +Dubois+ We brought a visitor back to Excalibur with us. He's even less of a team player than I am. He's taken off to the medical lab to examine some questionable bio-neural gel-paks that might shed light on what happened to the power grid.

Tandaris Admiran: +Dubois+ If you have someone to spare, you could send them to the lab. To help. And, um, keep an eye on him.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: +Matheson+ Yes? Did they identify one?

Hunter Matheson: +Hawthorne+ Apparently there's some kind of goo coming out of the (forget the name) they use for communication and such.

William Chocox: He’s a right crotchety old man.

Maryse Dubois: ::Even more of a curious look, sine no one said her lab would be used.:: +Admiran+ Understood. Thank you for the heads up.

Hakran K'hal: Dazim> :: arrives at the medical lab and, because there is /some/ security on the ship, the doors don't just open when he arrives :: Dammit. :: lays on the chime ::

Hunter Matheson: +Hawthorne+ They're using level D hazmat and deconing the shuttle at the moment. They say it's not major, but the bay chief isn't sure exactly what it is.

Hunter Matheson: +Hawthorne+ Might want to check with Tenn Valley's medical, ma'am.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: +Matheson+ The shuttle's communication relay was compromised? Do they know what sort of substance invaded the system? Is it biological?

Maryse Dubois: ::Looks to Indaura, a not thrilled look on her face.:: Looks like I need to deal with a guest.

Hunter Matheson: +Hawthorne+ Unsure, ma'am. Info comes from the bay chief.

Cptn Swain: N'Dak> ::taking the bridge shift at science, he had mostly made himself busy since they'd left starbase and had avoided being on the bridge, but hid drawn something of a metaphorical short straw today.::

Hunter Matheson: +Hawthorne+ I saw an engineer down here. He might know what it is.

Indaura Ryssan: Guest? Will they be staying at our fine hotel?

Hunter Matheson: +Hawthorne+ Strange name. Something like Daz...

Indaura Ryssan: Something I can help you with Doctor?

Hakran K'hal: Dazim> :: doesn't get an answer, because no one is using it - uses a very interesting combination of Standard, Caitian and Tamarn swear words in no particular order ::

Maryse Dubois: If things don't go well they might. Hold down the fort. Send transfers lists to OPS if you need to make more room. ::Leaving sickbay:: +Rhan+ Dubois to K'hal. Sorry to bother you, but did anyone approve use of the medical lab and not tell me?

William Chocox: Where is he now?

Indaura Ryssan: :: nods ::

Rhan K'hal: +Maryse+ Not that I'm aware of, but I do know the engineers brought someone with them.

Hunter Matheson: +Hawthorne+ As for com compromised, that's negative, ma'am. It's more like a goop that they found on one of the other shuttles.

Hakran K'hal: Dazim> :: baps the panel :: Who's in charge of this damned lab?

Maryse Dubois: +Rhan+ Well I just got word that the guest might be trying to use the lab. ::Hearing loud cursing, then the question. Leaves her comm open.:: That would be me. Can I help you?

Maryse Dubois: ::To Dazim::

Hakran K'hal: Dazim> :: looks down his pale muzzle at Maryse :: That spotted upstart said we could cross-link the engineering and medical labs together to work on this. Except I can't get into the damned lab to start.

Hakran K'hal: Dazim> :: waves his sample of the post-gel goo around recklessly in agitation ::

Tandaris Admiran: ::Chocox:: I think he wandered off to the med lab. I just sicced a doctor on him

Maryse Dubois: That's because it need my approval, which no one asked for. And I assume you are referring to our Chief Engineer. ::Looks at the goo sample. She sighs and activates the lab panel, opening it up.::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: +Matheson+ Have someone on the Tennessee Valley send us a report as soon as the substance is analyzed. We will decon the shuttles returning to Excalibur as a precaution. Also, I've ordered a rest period for all pilots currently on duty. That includes you, as well.

Hakran K'hal: Dazim> Your damned engineer was too busy sticking his nose in the air while playing Morality Judge to do it, apparently. :: walks in, and starts flicking on equipment without a by-your-leave ::

Hunter Matheson: +Hawthorne+ Yes, ma'am. I'll get someone from TV to send a report. As for the rest period, rest here or on Excal?

Cptn Swain: NDak> ::looks up at the conversations he's overhearing on the bridge, but continues working on passive scans of the planet.::

William Chocox: Poor DuBois.

Maryse Dubois: I see. :;Lets the door close behind as she stays outside for the moment.:: +Rhan+ Still there?

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: +Hawthorne+ That is entirely up to you. I'm sure the Tennessee Valley could accommodate you, if you are so inclined.

Rhan K'hal: +Maryse+ Always.

Hunter Matheson: +Hawthorne+ Yes, ma'am. Since I'm geared up, I'll just stay here a while.

Maryse Dubois: +Rhan+ Think you can send someone down to keep an eye on us? One of us may get hurt. Pretty sure it isn't going to be me.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::Her gaze slid to Rhan.:: Who is Doctor Dubois talking about?

Rhan K'hal: +Rhan+ One mo', Doc.

Rhan K'hal: :: swivels back to Hawthorne :: While I haven't verified the identity with Commander Admiran, I would assume it is the expert that the AVII lent us access to. And unless the transporter sensors are short-sighted today, it appears to be a Cait.

Indaura Ryssan: :: Wondering what the Doctor is working on... ::

Hakran K'hal: Dazim> :: setting up various scans on the goo in individual devices, content to be working alone in blessed silence again for a while ::

Hakran K'hal: Dazim> :: his brow furrowed in concentration as his mind works over the problem and how to handle it ::

Hunter Matheson: ::he catches the bay chief to get a copy of the report, the chief sends him to the corpsman on duty, and he *finally* gets someone to send a copy of the med report whenever it is available:::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::Her nostrils flared with irritation and she uttered those two words that carried so much danger.:: I see.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: +Admiran+ Hawthorne to my current, but easily replaceable Chief Engineer.

William Chocox: So, what are you working on?

William Chocox: Uh oh.

Tandaris Admiran: +Hawthorne+ Yes, Commander?

Maryse Dubois: ::Hoping she gets an answer soon, because she does not want to leave Dazim alone in her lab.::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: +Admiran+ Who did you bring on my ship without authorization, and why is he currently wandering about without a security escort?

Rhan K'hal: :: knows that look, swivels back :: +Maryse+ I'll come down myself. It's getting awfully hot up here.

Maryse Dubois: +Rhan+ Thank you. I'll see you soon.

Cptn Swain: ::Blissfully unaware of whatever tensions were mounting, he got another cup of tea from replicator and began looking over the most recent issue of a journal for stellar cartography.::

Tandaris Admiran: +Hawthorne+ Is this one Caitian?

Rhan K'hal: :: calls for his relief, which pops out of the ready access lounge in a few seconds - explains the situation quickly and scurries into the lift :: Medical lab.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: +Admiran+ THIS one?!

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::That was definitely not the right answer.::

Tandaris Admiran: +Hawthorne+ I mean, yes, definitely a Caitian. Rude? Dazim. He's here to help, despite his protestations.

Hakran K'hal: Dazim> :: running a few control copies after breaking open an access hatch and grabbing a spare normal gelpack ::

Hunter Matheson: # ::kicks back in the flight lounge while they do their thing with the Alkaid:::

Hakran K'hal: Dazim> :: since they're the same model used on AVII, except for the language on the info stamps, it was good enough for him and a lot faster than trying to requisition one through these Starfleet hacks ::

William Chocox: +Hawthorne+ He’s churlish, not necessarily dangerous.

Rhan K'hal: :: pops out of the lift and trots down to the medical lab doors ::

Maryse Dubois: ::Steps into the lab, looking at what he was doing.:: I am Dr. Dubois. Chief Medical Officer. Sorry, but I didn't get your name.

Hakran K'hal: Dazim> I didn't give it to you.

Maryse Dubois: ::Looks back as Rhan enters. Very relieved look.:: Well I think you should, since I'm nice enough to let you use my equipment.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: +Admiran+ That still doesn't explain why he's wandering about the ship without a security escort. Or any escort, for that matter. You brought him aboard, he is your responsibility. If anything happens while he's here, it is coming out of your spotted hide.

Hunter Matheson: # ::waves the other guys from Excal to take a load off per orders Excal XO::

Tandaris Admiran: +Hawthorne+ Yes, Commander.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: +Admiran+ And your 'special project' budget! ::Which would probably hurt him even more.::

Hakran K'hal: Dazim> Dazim.

Hakran K'hal: Dazim> :: sniffs, looks over as the door opens and sees Rhan - peels his lip back and growls deep in his throat ::

Maryse Dubois: Well Mr. Dazim... ::Backs off a little at the growl.:: What exactly is your project that you are working on?

Rhan K'hal: :: adjusts his ears into WTF mode - hasn't been growled at since a dispute over a girl in high school - and that was because her dog was jealous ::

Hakran K'hal: Dazim> :: snaps out of it, squints at Maryse :: Just Dazim. And I'm trying to figure out why bioneural gel turned into THIS. ::dramatically lets some of the goo drip from one container to another ::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::Scowling, she sank back into her chair and informed security of their guest, herself, with orders to keep track of him.::

Maryse Dubois: ::Looks at the goo.:: Viral or bacterial infection?

Hakran K'hal: Dazim> I haven't been able to find out yet between waiting outside the bloody door and now having to play social hour. :: shuts the door on one of the machines smartly and presses the big green button ::

Cptn Swain: Security> ::a random goldfish was on duty and got the message, lifting an eyebrow but passes the not along to one of the officers on duty to report to the med lab and keep watch.::

Rhan K'hal: :: doesn't bother trying to keep his voice down, knowing the Caitian ears as well as he does :: I see what you meant, Doc.

Tandaris Admiran: ::Chocox:: Did she seem upset?

Hunter Matheson: # +Hawthorne+ Hawthorne, Matheson. Doc Trajan has a report on the goo. Sending it your way. How copy?

Maryse Dubois: ::Trying not to clench her first.:: May I have a sample? I'll make some sub-molecular scans.

William Chocox: ::blinks:: Did she seem upset?

William Chocox: Just a smidge.

Hunter Matheson: # ::goes for more coffee::

Cptn Swain: ::Leaning back in his chair, he noticed the time.:: +Miranda+ Swain to Miranda

Hakran K'hal: Dazim> :: gestures at the goo in the universal "help yourself" way, except his manages to convey contempt at the same time ::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: +Matheson+ Thank you. Will review as soon as I get it. ::Sighs.::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: +Swain+ Yes, Captain?

Rhan K'hal: Ops> :: per Rhan's request, updates 39 Tango to narrow their search results on Dazim to Caitians - maybe they'll finally get a result ::

Maryse Dubois: ::Takes a sample, shooting a look at Rhan as she turns her back from Dazim. She then sets her sample into the middle of a device, flipping it on.::

Rhan K'hal: :: stands by, and doesn't have to try too hard to look intimidating, as even he towered over the short and skinny grumpy Cait ::

William Chocox: I think she was serious about our fun budget.

Hakran K'hal: Dazim> :: looks over results as his machine beeps :: Not pathogenic.

Cptn Swain: +Miranda+ Just checking in. It's been quite. I assume everything is going well?

Maryse Dubois: ::Looks at the scans.:: Whatever did this, completely changed the structure. You can't even call this bio-neural anymore.

Hakran K'hal: Dazim> :: pulls out the sample, shoves it neatly into the used biohazard container - whatever else you can say about him,. he knows his way around a lab :: Still trying to figure out if this is a result of the power grid breakdown or a cause. Or a combination. That narrows down some things though.

Cptn Swain: +Miranda+ I was thinking about having tea sandwiches for lunch. Did you know the computer has something like a thousand different varieties? I have to admit, I did not know, for example, that Vulcans could grow cucumbers. Seems awfully dry on Vulcan for them.

Indaura Ryssan: :: Finishing up on her patients ::

Hakran K'hal: Dazim> :: helps himself to Maryse's data ::

Maryse Dubois: Maybe it was exposed to another chemical compound. Something harder to detect/

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::Miranda snorted.:: +Swain+ That's so interesting. Everything is well in hand, Captain. Business as usual. Incidentally, I may be skinning our Chief Engineer soon. But that's normal, right?

Cptn Swain: +Miranda+ Just make sure you fill out all the correct paper work, Commander. Let me know if anything comes up.

Hakran K'hal: Dazim> That's why we're running the tests and not sitting back with a holonovel and alcohol.

Maryse Dubois: ::Would talk under her breath but knows he would hear. Instead she simply wishes she had some alcohol.::

Rhan K'hal: :: as the goldshirt comes in :: Okay Doc, I should head back to the bridge. See if I can rustle up some more data my own way.

Rhan K'hal: :: wants to know about this Dazim a lot more now ::

Maryse Dubois: ::Looks up.:: Thank you Rhan.

Rhan K'hal: :: nods, heads out and trots faster than he came back to the lift ::
