Ensign Goad Personal Log Stardate 0212.12

After arriving at starbase 342 to wait for the USS Reaent to arrive, I took a small bit of personal time in a holodeck simulation of a 20th century golf course. I also enjoyed sometime working on my personal astrophysics research projects. I have made some good progress in finding an accurate way to use sensors to detect past tritoriam in a planet's crust without interference. I hope to finish this project soon... with the help of some of the Reaent's science equipment.

 

After being on the starbase three days, the Reaent arrived at 07:00 hours. I was nervous as I went on board, although that feeling was quickly overcome with excitement about my new post. I was shown to my quarters by a friend from the academy, after which I went to the bridge to report to Commander Ridire. When I arrived, he was in the Captain's ready room introducing another new ensign on board, Ensign Geovanie Revolone. While waiting, I met Ensign Mike Van Roy, ops and helm officer. After a short wait and discussion with Ensign Van Roy, I met the commander, and then he introuduced me to Captain Micheals. After this the commander asked Ensign Van Roy to give Ensign Revolone and myself the "nickel" tour of the ship.

 

I must say that this is a magnificent ship. Our stops on the tour include Main Engineering, Main Science, Crew Quarters, and finally Ten Forward where we stoped and talked over drinks, non-acholoic mind you. ::chuckles::. After this tour I went back to my quaters to find several messages waiting for me. The first message informed me of the recent promotion of Lt. Sivuk to Cheif Science Officer. Although I have not meet Sivuk, I saw him while on the bridge reporting to the captain and commander. I look forward to working with him when I report for my first full day of duty.

 

The second message could be taken good or bad, depending on the viewpoint. It was from the ship's doctor, informing me that I need to get my phyisical done as soon as possible. Now I have heard rumors about the doctor, good and bad, with many to strange to believe. I however expect that the doctor is a friendly person, just like many previous doctors that I have encountered. Of course there is no way of knowing for sure until I meet her...
