USS Republic Mission Briefing 51608.22 – Season 24

 

Mission Brief: We discovered a Yridian ship along with its small fleet of ragtag defenders. Currently the Commander is trying to negotiate some information out of the Captain.

Rue Wydown -> ::facepalms the response time, then cracks her neck as she speaks:: Okay obviously the Captain is lying, but we don't have the authority to attack or board their ships...certainly not without causing an international incident. Any other ideas?

STSF_BluRox -> Simple, there is a damaged ship, were lending aid, we had to send people over

Rue Wydown -> That’s the little ship, my dear. Not the big ship with the big bad wolf on it. We can't justify that.

STSF_BluRox -> Oh, I don't believe it will start a war, you guys are nothing but smugglers and thieves working in the sector space and everyone knows there's no other reason to be out here other than transfer of goods. There's not a habital planet for three days in either direction at maximum warp

LtCmdrRobinson -> If they were hauling this mutagenic serum before now, couldn’t we scan them and find traces of it? They’d have to have special equipment to move it around as well.

Rue Wydown -> ::motions to both Will and Jax when she talks, watching Jamieson look a bit sleepy in the background::

STSF_BluRox -> :: watching the sensors off to the side, to make sure the other ships are not repositioning themselves to put us in a bad crossfire ::

Heather Jamieson -> :: Feels like she is watching a game board to make her next move and feeling the pieces are moving of their own accord ::

LtCmdrRobinson -> I've never seen a trade ship with a fully functioning science lab before... ::taps:: with containment facilities.

Rue Wydown -> I want to come up with something that'll make those guys give up the serum like a hot potato. Like a nuclear hot potato. Jamieson, ideas?

LtCmdrRobinson -> If they lose containment, they will change their tune quickly.

Rue Wydown -> How do you make them think they've lost containment without really loosing containment in the first place?

STSF_BluRox -> Thinks what they should do is just beam everybody off the disabled ship and blow it to tiny little pieces, we can say it was contaminated and use that as an excuse to check all of the others

LtCmdrRobinson -> Well I am showing the science lab, but as long as they have a containment field up I can’t scan what they are containing. Could be our stuff, could be anything.

STSF_BluRox -> I told you I am biased in this case Rue. We have plenty of information leading us to them, and the proof is on those ships.

LtCmdrRobinson -> Well someone should just advise them of what happened to the last few ships transporting the stuff, the horrible disease they all contracted from a leaking container...

 

STSF_BluRox -> These guys are planning to distribute that same serum which mutated and harmed countless federation citizens and members of our own Republic family. My judgment is a little hasty when it comes to these smugglers

LtCmdrRobinson -> and if that doesn’t work, we can hail them with the other hailing frequencies and ask again...

STSF_BluRox -> And they did fire first upon our ship, I think we have sufficient cause to force the issue; however as I stated I'm leaving this up to your call at this time, the next move is yours

Rue Wydown -> I'd love to do that Will. Might avoid a bigger conflict. But he's rather a broken record that can't seem to take that bait of interest enough to find out what sort of Humanitarian mission we're on. ::pauses:: Perhaps we're working the wrong angle. Maybe we should try the smaller ships?

STSF_BluRox -> Just keep in mind if you let them go and they do indeed have the serum they put that many more people at risk

August Jax Robinson -> how about we send a shuttle over and ram them by "Accident"

Rue Wydown -> Kasuga, send out a message to the small ship. See if we can lend assistance. Let's see if we can't try the rumor mill on them. Jax, can you jam the larger ship's transmissions to the small ship without them noticing?

STSF_BluRox -> :: figures Christina is probably wondering what the heck is going on on the bridge as we had told her to prepare her boarding team and they have been on standby for about an hour now

Rue Wydown -> ::starting her own version of background noise:: I don't care what they said, we can't just leave them out there. Containment or not. It's the right thing to do.

Rue Wydown -> Okay, so that's one of what....three ships. Doesn't mean that they're all an issue. ::glancing at Kasuga to be assured that their volume of conversation can be over heard in her comm with the smaller ship::

STSF_BluRox -> Basically they are trying to force us to pay a ransom to let them go which makes no sense yes they have several small ships likely to come at us… but…yea…
