Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 17 February 2017

24 February 2388 - Stardate 2388.054

TBS is 20 minutes.

The time is 0820 hours (8:20 am) Aegis local.

Just when we thought we had time to breathe, the mining ship, Shray, has gone silent in the asteroid belt. They contacted Aegis, requesting analysis of a strange scan. Since the sample was unusual, we encouraged them to stop drilling, but their transmission went silent before they could acknowledge.

Sensors show an unidentifiable, impenetrable cloud rising from the drilling site. At sim begin, USS Missouri has arrived in sector 119 to investigate.

24 February 2388 - Stardate 2388.054

TBS is 60 minutes.

The time is 1020 hours (10:20 am) Aegis local.

The mining ship, Shray, went silent in Sector 119 the asteroid belt. They contacted Aegis, requesting analysis of a “strange” scan. Since the sample was unusual, we encouraged them to stop drilling, but their transmission went silent before they could acknowledge.

Missouri has also dropped off sensors and communications after investigating. However, it managed to use a probe to inform Aegis of its status: intact but adrift without power.

Captain Ramson has hypothesized the substance responsible is related to the sensor-dampening material used in the construction of the shipyard. However, this substance was not known to drain power sources.

Science is analyzing samples and readings obtained from a probe sent by Aegis into the region, which is increasing in volume.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 3 March 2017

24 February 2388 - Stardate 2388.054

TBS is 30 minutes.

The time is 1210 hours (12:10 pm) Aegis local.

The mining ship, Shray, and the USS Missouri are encased in a power-hungry cloud and adrift in sector 119. The crew of Shray has completely lost power and are now sharing EVA suit oxygen among themselves. The ships are attempting to drift together at their bays so a SPECOPS team from Missouri can attempt rescue.

On Aegis, priority one is rescuing Missouri and Shray. The second priority is to protect the station from the spreading cloud. Both can be achieved by finding a way to contain, counteract, or shield them from its effects. Meanwhile, they are stockpiling supplies in case the station has to power down. The shipyard is also at risk because of their power sources; they have been notified.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 10 March 2017

24 February 2388 - Stardate 2388.054

No TBS

The time is 1310 hours (1:10 pm) Aegis local.

The M/AM hungry cloud is still spreading toward Aegis. Science believes there is a way to lure the cloud toward the sun. All departments are prepared to go dark.

USS Missouri has rescued the crew of Shray, but both ships are still trapped in the mysterious cloud.

At sim begin, the task force will begin using their modified deflector dishes to plow a pathway through the cloud in an attempt to rescue the Missouri and the Shray. Runabouts are prepared to tow.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 17 March 2017

26 February 2388 - Stardate 2388.054

TBS is 2 days.

The time is 1400 hours (4:00 pm) Aegis local.

The USS Missouri rescued the crew of Shray. They are now in Aegis’ medical complex, struggling to recover. The cloud left their ship helpless. The crew evacuated to EVA suits, and eventually they had to share oxygen. Most of Shray’s crew are in very bad condition due to oxygen deprivation. All active medical personnel and those held in reserve for emergency purposes are very busy. So far, there have been no fatalities.

Since Sector 119 of the asteroid belt poses a threat for miners, it has been declared off limits. Buoys have been deployed to alert passing ships and miners. All ships that are docked at Aegis or are in the area have been ordered to shut down their warp cores.

In an attempt to urge the energy-hungry cloud toward the sun, Aegis is powered down to minimal. We have three days left before the cloud either consumes Aegis or the cloud decides that the sun is juicier.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 24 March 2017

26 March 2388 - Stardate 2388.054

TBS is 1 month.

The time is 0600 hours (6:00 am) Aegis local.

It has been one month since the energy-hungry cloud left Aegis space to indulge itself in the energy produced by the nearby sun. Sector 119 of the asteroid belt is permanently off-limits.

The crew of Shray has recovered from their ordeal. Its captain is negotiating with a shipyard for a replacement. In the meantime, most of the crew have remained on station, though a few have changed careers.

For the most part, the station has returned to normalcy. Command might finally catch up with “paper” work.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 31 March 2017

26 March 2388 - Stardate 2388.054

TBS is 20 minutes.

The time is 0720 hours (7:20 am) Aegis local.

After a month of relative quiet, Aegis has been approached by the Droid Core, asking for diplomatic talks. They seem compliant and serious about their mission and have been given permission to dock.

As a precaution, Commander Coleridge has ordered firewalls throughout the computer systems. The Droid Core ship is under "non-confrontational" fighter escort. At sim begin, the Droid Core ship will have just docked.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 7 April 2017

26 March 2388 - Stardate 2388.054

TBS is 30 minutes.

The time is 0900 hours (9:00 am) Aegis local.

The Droid Core delegation, in the likeness of 2’ tall humanoids, one of which resembles Captain Ramson. Command greeted them with due respect as a formal delegation. Discussion takes place on the former Diplomatic Section of Aegis, deck 13. The Droids do not have access beyond that.

The Droid Core wants to join forces with the Federation to defeat the Alien Alliance. They suggest that removal of all Alliance worlds as interstellar species should give 78 Federation years of peace, after which our common resource needs will force another war that should last 8 years. The Federation has a 78% chance of defeating the Droids in that war, at which time there would be an agreeable peace. To that end, the Droid Core proposes mutually sharing technology.

At sim begin, senior staff will discuss the Droids’ proposals.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 14 April 2017

26 March 2388 - Stardate 2388.054

TBS is 1 hour.

The time is 1100 hours (11:00 am) Aegis local.

After much discussion about the Droids’ proposal, the senior staff decides to proceed with caution. Up for consideration:

  • Should we make allies with a former enemy to start a war?
  • Does having a common problem justify joining forces?
  • Should we form an alliance, for whatever reason, with a species that are essentially computers and whose strategy could change when a mathematical equation deems it appropriate?
  • If the Droids can change form so easily, what danger do they pose to the station and to any alliance?
  • What might happen if we reject the Droid proposal altogether?

The presence of the Droids on station and their proposal to join them to destroy the Alien Alliance seems to have more negatives than positives. No matter what avenue we take, we will proceed slowly, and with caution.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 21 April 2017

26 March 2388 - Stardate 2388.054

=/\= TBS is 2 hours.  The time is 1400 hours (2:00 PM) Aegis local. =/\=

As diplomatic negotiations with the Chibi Droids continue, we suspect that at least the Ramson Droid Core is communicating with, and possibly being controlled by, someone or something either on or off station.  Our sensors are at full throttle.  Our telepaths are listening carefully.  We have many suspicions and are treading lightly.

26 March 2388

TBS is 1 hour. The time is 1600 hours (4:00 PM), Aegis local.

We realize that the droids are communicating with an outside source.  Captain Ramson, Dr. Sandero, and Lt Cdr Lawliet, our resident telepaths, key in on their comunications.  Dr. Sandero and Lt Cdr Lawliet are overcome by the telepathy and collapse.

At sim begin, Captain Ramson will be questioning Dr. Sandero and Lt Cdr Lawliet. We will try to deal with everything else.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 5 May 2017
26 March 2388 - Stardate 2388.054

TBS is 15 minutes.
The time is 1710 hours (5:15 PM) Aegis local.

While the Droids stand like chibi toys, immobile in the delegates’ area, we try to track down the source of the signals they are receiving.  Captain Ramson, Dr. Sandero, and LCdr Lawliet attempt to find the source telepathically.  Cdr Coleridge will attempt to find it by embedding a memetic virus into the information we give them, then use it to track back to the source.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 12 May 2017
26 March 2388 - Stardate 2388.054

TBS is 2 hours.
The time is 2000 hours (8:00 PM) Aegis local.

Our understanding of the Droid Cores and their true purpose on Aegis unravels slowly.  Believing that the Droids are taking orders from an outside source, Captain Ramson, Dr. Sandero, and LtCdr Lawliet attempted to telepathically pinpoint the source of their communications.  The attempt linked them to a powerful entity whose just as powerful vision sent Dr. Sandero and LtCdr Lawliet to sick bay.

Captain Ramson recounted, “What we felt at the end of that vision was the same thing I was communicating with in the Treevian cave.  There is a hint of curiosity, but nothing more.  The impostor droid gathered a bit of tech from us. It did try to get us to attack an Alliance ship but did not try to force us to.”

Meanwhile, we push on.  Cdr Cayne attempts to determine the Droids’ method of communication among themselves, while Cdr Coleridge configures a virus that should pinpoint the physical location of the entity that they are communicating with.  If we are under threat, it is imperative that we know where it is coming from.

26 March 2388 - Stardate 2388.054

TBS is 5 minutes. The time is 2105 hours (9:05 PM) Aegis local.

Cdr Coleridge's memetic virus worked well. When the droids began communication with their handlers, we were able to pinpoint the origin of the communication.  What we discovered, however, was not exactly what we expected.  Whomever it is, is in orbit of TKR-117.

Meanwhile, LtCdr Lawliet took it upon himself to “listen in” on the communication telepathically, and found himself telepathically surrounded by unknown beings.

27 March 2388 - Stardate 2388.087

TBS is 8 hours.
The time is 0600 hours (6:00 AM) Aegis local.

Whomever or whatever is directing the Droid Cores attempted to take control of Lawliet.  They were somewhat successful, but the connection was cut just before they could succeed.  At that, the Droid Cores have left Aegis.   Was their purpose friendly, hostile, or somewhere between?  Were they trying to understand us better so they could manipulate us into attacking the Alliance for them?

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 2 June 2017
30 March 2388 - Stardate 2388.090

 TBS is 36 hours.
The time is 0700 hours (7:00 AM) Aegis local.

The Droid Core ship is holding position about 2 light years from Aegis, presently not posing a threat.  It is possible that they are conferring privately or that they noticed our attempt to track their link to the location of their handlers: at a point in orbit of TKR-117.

LtCdr Lawliet has been cleared for duty by Dr. Pavilion.  He remembers little of his telepathic encounter with the Droid handlers except that he had a strange dream.  For the sake of station security, his access codes have been terminated, and he is under strict security surveillance, which is standard operating procedure in such situations.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 9 June 2017
30 March 2388 - Stardate 2388.089

TBS is 2 hours.
The time is 1000 hours (10.00 AM) Aegis local.

The station has settled down to a semblance of normalcy.  The Droid Core ship remains stationary approximately 2 LY away.  In Captain Ramson’s words, it is “being mysterious, as usual.” LT CDR Lawliet has returned to duty.  He and LT CDR Tarisa are watching TKR-117 closely, since transmissions to the Droid Cores seem to originate there.

31 March 2388 - Stardate 2388.090

TBS is 24 hours.
The time is 1400 hours (2.00 PM) Aegis local.

The Romulan recon fleet deployed to Alien Alliance space has detected something interesting in the p-kappa 198 system.  It is outside of the Alliance zone of influence and it seems to be natural in nature, but it is not anything that has been observed before.  We plan on a seven day scientific exploratory mission, but knowing how plans seem to change, that is not certain.

Strangely enough, though Aegean will be the exploration craft, Starfleet Command has instructed Captain Ramson to remain on Aegis.  The mission commander has yet to be determined, and department heads have been ordered to submit a list of assigned mission personnel.

We have two days to put things in order before departure.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 7 July 2017
5 April 2388 - Stardate 2388.095

TBS is 3 days.
The time is 1600 hours (4.00 PM) Aegis local.

Aegean is en route to investigate a strange signal in p-Kappa 198, preceded by a science probe.
Commander Coleridge is on his first command mission.
Lt Commander Lawliet is in his first mission as second in command.
Also aboard are:
Commander Cayne - security
Ensign Orrak - security
Dr. Sandero - medical
Lt Commander Tarisa - science
Ensign Jackson - Operations
Lt T’Paun  - engineering

Captain Ramson and Captain Chirakis are dealing with loosing the fledglings. ‘Tis a strange feeling.

At sim begin, Aegean should be about to enter the target system.
The probe will already have arrived and started its initial survey, sending those readings to Aegean.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 14 July 2017
5 April 2388 - Stardate 2388.095

TBS is 4 hours.
The time is 2100 hours (9.00 PM) Aegis local.

Aegean is in high geosynchronous orbit of the 4th planet in the p-Kappa 198 system, an “unremarkable piece of charcoal floating in space.”  The probe has recorded a gravitational reading in orbit, parallel to the planet’s north magnetic pole.  Gravitational fields are chaotic, as are scans of the gravitational field.  Sensor readings reveal complex mineral deposits beneath the planet’s charred surface.

Because of chaotic gravitational fields that put the ship and crew in danger, Captain Coleridge has taken the ship into maximum orbit until they come up with a plan for safe investigation.

6 April 2388 - Stardate 2388.096

TBS is 5 minutes.
The time is 2305 hours (11.05 PM) Aegis local.

Aegean is investigating strange signals and atmospheric readings of the 4th planet in the p-Kappa 198 system.  A probe sent toward the surface imploded as it increased speed toward the center of the anomaly, then vanished without a trace until a small energy signal was briefly detected from the opposite pole.  A wormhole is suspected.

At present, the anomaly they are investigating has stabilized, but is increasing in size.
