Bring Down My Pain

"I can't escape the pain

I can't control the rage

Sometimes I think that I'm gonna go insane

I'm not against what's right

I'm not for what's wrong

I'm just making my way and I'm gone."

1Lt Jacob Duncan looks out across the cave at the other people working around him to find out what exactly has caused us to phase out of reality, as he quietly opens his personal log.

It's really an awkward subject to "phase" out of the land of the real, but I've found that most things are phased out of a reality of some sort at some point in time.  But...who exactly determines what is real and what is not?

I mean...who sets themselves as the awesome power and supreme being that feels the need to torment our existence with their definition of what is real...and what is make believe.  I'd like to meet that person one day.

Look at it this way.  I can touch the walls of this cave and feel them underneath my hand.  I can walk on the ground because I believe that it is solid and really there.  I can breath the air and drink the fresh water, because I believe they are there.  Now...to those around me, they may not believe that any of this is real.  We are like characters in a large holonovel...because they believe that they are real themselves.

How do we know that we aren't really characters in someone's own holonovel?  We roam the galaxy in search of new experiences and new peoples...now...that sounds like it's a story within itself.

"Here's the weight of the world on my shoulders."

Some days I think that our good captain has a hard enough job as being our fearless leader.  He may not be a Marine, but I know he knows his way around.  I guess that's a quality of being a captain that I will have to study and try to become a likeness of.  He has the lives of every person on the Arcadia in his hands.  He ultimately makes the decision on who lives another day and who's life stops here.

I'd hate to walk a mile in his shoes.

"Cause I found a way to steal the sun from the sky

Long live that day that I decided to fly from the inside."

Lyrics in quotation marks are from Fly From The Inside, by Shinedown

Gee.. I hate all those *what is reality?* questions.

But I really like your log!! It didn't make my head hurt trying to figure it out. A good, straight forward Marine think log!!
