The Manticore picked up a stowaway, an alien who can "talk"

into most of our minds (without sound) as well as cancelling

out all forms of manufactured energy. It asked for our help in

finding a remote place to live, but didn't tell us it was the last of

the Yaku, an ancient race of mass murderers thought to have been

totally wiped out a year before the creation of the Federation.

The Yaku destroyed the entire Haiweh race and was then hunted

to extinction by the Terrans and Romulans. As we grapple with this

dilemma, a huge ship destroys our warp engines and forward

weapons launchers with two blasts that didn't even touch our shields.

It turns out to be the last of the Haiweh and we are caught in the

middle. The Yaku offers itself as a weapon to neutralize the Haiweh

and we had no choice then to fling it toward the Haiweh ship.
