John Randall

Clearing Up The Cloak

OFFICIAL LOG

LIEUTENANT JOHN RANDALL

USS CHALLENGER

(Personal Log Stardate 11512.18)

John returned with the rest of the team to engineering after the newly installed conduit had checked out satisfactory to all. They resumed their normal duties, and Randall called the bridge to inform the captain that the device should be ready to go again. Captain Ja'Lale thanked him for the information and gave a "well done" to he and his team.

The rest of the trip proved to be relatively uneventful, and after performing some maneuvers in the designated area of space, the Challenger dropped the cloak and set sail for the nearest starbase to inform Starfleet Command of the joint operations.

John sat at the main console for a while, observing the crew, then he arose from his chair, walked over to Jeff Michaels, told him he had the conn, and went into the chief engineer's office. He sat down at the computer and sighed when he saw the reports that hadn't been approved and filed yet. He set to work, and a good two hours later, finally pushed himself away from the terminal.

John sat in the office chair, and found himself drifting back to the recently completed covert mission he had taken part in. Memories came whirling into his mind, and he sat there until the memory of the death of Sara Edwards appeared, and he gave a silent yell, launching himself out of the chair. The walls of the office now appeared to be closing in on him, and he knew he had to do something.

He thought for a moment, then wondered if Anastasia was busy on the bridge. He sat back down, and sent the science officer an e-mail asking if she would be free later to talk. Only a few moments later, a reply came back stating that she was free now. John sent another e-mail to her asking if they could meet in the officers' mess, and Anastasia agreed in the replying e-mail.

John left the CE's office and told Michaels to keep the conn; he would be in the officers' mess. Michaels acknowledged the order, and Randall exited engineering, heading for the turbolift. "Deck 3," he snapped as he entered the car, and the lift sped off. A few moments later, the lift arrived; John stepped out of the car, and made his way down the corridor to the mess hall.

He walked through the doors as they opened, and he went to the replicator. He ordered an ice water, and sat down at a nearby table. A few moments later, the chief science officer walked through the doors, spotted him, and made her way over to him, sitting down across from him.
