The Manticore returned to Deep Space 4 after witnessing

unknown technology performing xenoforming of a remote

planetoid beyond the borders of the Federation. They were

called back to meet with a new alien race, the Belosians. This

strange race employs undesirable humans as their local "agents"

and have huge starships made of the same unknown tech as the

xenoforming platforms. After the command staff fumbled the

official First Contact event, one of the Belosian agents slipped

McFly a high-tech Isolinear flake that turns out to be a secure

commlink to ... A9!?
