Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 21 August 2015

29 January 2388 - Stardate 2388.029

~Season 21 Premiere~

TBS was 2 hours.

The time is 2200 hours—10:00 pm—Aegis local.

Commander Coleridge and his team has returned from the asteroid, bearing the parts they salvaged from droid one and droid two. They will be taking them apart for investigation.

Midshipman Timir has been ordered to research Aegis’ experimental transwarp teleportation. The security footage of his conversation with LtCdr Lawliet has mysteriously vanished. Captain Chirakis will be investigating.

Drs Pavilion and Sandero are watching Annisha closely, suspecting PTSD from her time in slavery. There might be other children who need the same treatment.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 28 August 2015

30 January 2388 - Stardate 2388.030

TBS was 12 hours.

The time is 1000 hours—10:00 am—Aegis local.

The USS Byron reports that a number of ships have left An-Ward and are moving deeper into the nebula and away from Aegis. Some are heading toward Breen space. Meanwhile, a starship has exited Breen space and is headed toward Aegis at warp 8.

At sim begin, the incoming ship is still quite a distance away, and the droid core that Cdr Coleridge and Ensign Timir have been investigating was simmering—not chatting—and running on internal batteries.

30 January 2388 - Stardate 2388.030

TBS was 15 minutes.

The time is 1115 hours—11:15 am—Aegis local.

The alien ship is incoming from Breen space.

It is not responding to hails.

Aegis’ sensors are reflecting off their shields.

Interceptors are shadowing it.

The salvaged core from the An-Ward droids has picked up signals from the incoming alien ship.

It sends an INCOMING HOSTILE warning.

At sim end, an image of the ship emerged.

Dark Moon Rising

It is January of the year 2388, and the present incarnation of Sky Harbor Aegis is entering her fourth month of existence, welcoming all species, serving as a hub for commerce, and generally promoting the prosperity of Aegis’ sector and beyond. A half day’s journey from the station, the colony on TKR-117 has become a prominent agricultural center for those who live in surrounding space. Between the colony and the station, the asteroid belt’s generous mineral yield draws miners from throughout the quadrant. In general, the station is enjoying one of the most peaceful and prosperous years since the end of the Dominion War.

The principal external threat, a highly advanced species called the Athra, have since proven themselves more benevolent. After their devastating, unexplained attack on the station, they returned to defend us from the Breen. Their origin remains unknown and well beyond our pitiful reach into unknown space, and their reason for attacking Aegis remains a mystery, but they appear to be an ancient race that has a vested interest in the ongoing archaeological excavation of a 100,000 year old underground city on TKR-117.

With the aid of the Athra—and probably having succumbed to a sudden deluge of stupidity—the Breen have disappeared. Though there is no proof, evidence suggests that they became victims of their own nefarious subspace experiments.

Major criminal elements such as the Orion Cartel seem to be enjoying a prosperity of their own, evidenced by their lack of prominence in security briefings. Otherwise, petty government squabbles and minor disagreements between planets dominate the geopolitical scene. In essence, Sky Harbor Aegis seems to be enjoying an unprecedented time of peace.

But peace is a lie.

Peace is a great deception that draws a veil of fantasy over reality. It is a construct fashioned by the naiveté of those who would live in comfort and prosperity, either oblivious to the constant threat of war or choosing to ignore it. Whoever believed that we would have peace after the disappearance of the Breen lived in a utopian dream world, for it is the nature of all beasts that when the dominant is removed, another rises to take its place. The peace that supposedly surrounded Sky Harbor Aegis was about to be shattered by the Breen successor. In turn, when that successor disappeared—if it ever did—yet another would rise to power, and on it goes.

A massive shock wave washed over the station, and with great effort she rose up to return the attack with a shudder, and a fistshake of defiance. So great was the impact that, had she been of lesser mettle, she would have folded in on herself and dissolved, taking with her the lives of the 13,782 sentient beings presently under her care. The sound of her demise would have carried into the next sector if she were not housed in the vacuum of space. Instead, a reverberation in the bowels of her structure alarmed the populace as she fought back with a vengeance. She was young, strong, sturdily built and ably manned. The enemy, though formidable, came to a standstill.

The monstrous alien ship had approached the station openly, without fear, plowing through the asteroid belt, and impacting them with such force that the nuclear fusion within the asteroids’ atoms blew them apart. Now, looming large on the viewscreen and still viable, the alien ship seemed to be biding its time for a counter attack. In the silence that followed, Chief of Security Chirakis Kirel stared at the image, wondering if the master of that massive vessel stared back.

This was not the same species that she and Cayne had observed at An-Ward, nor was it the species that hijacked the USS Vladivostok. At this point, however, identifying the species did not matter. What did matter was that Aegis could be, once again, at war.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 11 September 2015

30 January 2388 - Stardate 2388.030

TBS was 10 minutes.

The time is 1225 hours—12:25 pm—Aegis local.

The station is under attack by a massive alien ship of exceptional power.

By moving the station out of their direct line of fire, their attempt to ram us has failed.

We have survived the shock wave generated from the backwash of destroyed asteroids.

A torpedo, delivered via Aegis’ subspace transporter, has damaged the alien ship enough to bring down their shields.

For the last ten minutes, we have been staring at each other.

Their shields are down, and what we see is a teardrop shaped ship with an open deck over which aliens in spacesuits work, as if on an ancient sailing ship.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 18 September 2015

30 January 2388 - Stardate 2388.030

TBS was 30 minutes.

The time is 1355 hours—1:55 pm—Aegis local.

The station is at yellow alert.

The alien ship was completely destroyed with minimal damage to the station. Part of the ship’s rigging was torn off. There is a lifesign within it. Both are being transported to the shipyard for analysis. The aliens preferred suicide rather than capture, making it difficult for us to definitively identify any one of them.

Both Aegis and the shipyard have been inundated with calls for help from ships damaged by the alien ship as it plowed through the asteroid belt. Medical is treating injured from the severely damaged mining ship. Engineering is focusing on damage to fighters and grid units. Science is evaluating what we have learned from their scans and visual data. Fighters continue on patrol, keeping a close watch on our perimeter.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 25 September 2015

30 January 2388 - Stardate 2388.030

There was no TBS.

The time is 1500 hours—3:00 pm—Aegis local.

Previously, on Sky Harbor Aegis:

LtCdr Lawliet is at the shipyard with the alien life form, whose life signs are fading. The alien form is long and thin; it appears to have 4 arms, 2 legs, and a broad head. The drones have it restrained, and Lawliet is attempting to establish a dialogue.

Task Force Aegis reports that this is the 4th alien species that has entered this area from Breen space.

Calls for help from ships damaged by the alien ship continue to pour in. Medical is still treating injured, a few from the station and some from the severely damaged mining ship. Engineering is focusing on damage to fighters and grid units. Science is evaluating what we have learned from their scans and visual data. Fighters continue on patrol, keeping a close watch on our perimeter.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 2 October 2015

30 January 2388 - Stardate 2388.030

TBS is 60 minutes.

The time is 1700 hours—5:00 pm—Aegis local.

Aegis is still at yellow alert.

Engineering and science continued their investigation into the nature of the alien ship. As for the life form, communication with it has proven futile. Its life signs continue to fade and Dr. Pavilion is doing her best to treat it.

The droid core is showing signs of having encountered these aliens before, though that is not certain. For the moment, there is not direct threat to Aegis. So far, Task Force Aegis has found no other alien vessels.

An intercepted subspace message, relayed from SI-6 to Aegis, is more than a little unsettling.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 9 October 2015

31 January 2388 - Stardate 2388.031

TBS is 13 hours.

The time is 0600 hours—6:00 am—Aegis local.

At the shipyard, our alien is “mostly dead” and Dr. Pavilion is doing her best to revive it. With her are LtCdr Lawliet and Cdr Cayne. Assisted by SubCommander Jorahl, they are trying various methods to communicate with it.

The station has stood down from yellow alert. However, all departments are bracing for another possible attack. Engineering is looking into potential countermeasures for the aliens’ shield technology.

Droid transmissions from the station have the same destination as a transmission that came from alien space. We suspect that there is an alien fleet waiting for a report from the alien ship that attacked Aegis. Aegean is preparing for reconnaissance to verify that information.

Federation Envoy Jeralla Ramson is keeping the delegates from two An-Ward factions occupied with negotiations.

Task Force Aegis is about to enter Aegis space.

31 January 2388 - Stardate 2388.031

TBS is 5 hours.

The time is 1200 hours—noon—Aegis local.

USS Missouri is in orbital dock. Captain d’Ka is meeting with Captain Ramson.

Dr. Pavilion continues to successfully treat the alien. In an attempt to communicate with it, LtCdr Lawliet has configured the UT to Breen. On hearing the Breen words, the alien reacts with an eruption of violent color that wraps around its face.

The time is 1700 hours—5 pm—Aegis local.

Commander Coleridge is in command of Aegis. Captain Chirakis, LtCdr Lawliet, Dr. Pavilion, and Commander Cayne remain with him.

Captain Ramson has taken Aegean to track the droids’ signals, to determine their point of origin and hopefully discover the connection they have with the aliens. With her on Aegean are LtCdr Kital, SubCommander tr’Korjata, Dr. Sandero, and Lt Tarisa.

Captain Ramson is in command of the mission. With Aegean is Task Force Alpha, commanded by Captain d’Ka on USS Missouri. Staying behind to protect Aegis sector is Task Force Bravo, commanded by Captain Kirsch of USS Toronto.

Aegean is 3 hours out from Aegis.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 30 October 2015

1 February 2388 - Stardate 2388.032

TBS is 15 hours.

The time is 0800 hours—8 am—Aegis local.

Commander Coleridge is in command of Aegis, where the lone alien survivor is recovering, under guard.

Aegean is cloaked and running silent, approaching what they believe to be the origin of suspicious transmissions and the destination of the droid’s communication signals. What remains of the droid is aboard, programmed to believe that it is still on Aegis. Its transmissions are multiplex subspace K-band.

1 February 2388 - Stardate 2388.032

TBS is 30 minutes.

The time is 0930 hours—9:30 am—Aegis local.

Aegean is in their target system, tracking down the source of communication between the droids and the aliens. Their target is a gas giant’s second moon that is laced with caverns. They are about to attempt a transport into one of the caverns.

On Aegis, LtCdr Lawliet and Dr. Pavilion have returned to question the alien at the shipyard.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 13 November 2015

1 February 2388 - Stardate 2388.032

No TBS.

The time is 1030 hours—10:30 am—Aegis local.

Aegean’s away team has beamed into a large underground cavern filled with blue bioluminescent foliage. Massive tree-like trunks covered with segmented plates grow from floor to ceiling. One reaches out, lifts SubCommander Korjata into the air, and deposits him a distance from its trunk. Another seems to inspect Lt Tarisa.

At Aegis’ shipyard, Dr. Pavilion talks to the alien. It speaks in cryptic phrases as different colors encircle its head. “Who join will bring freedom… inevitable fate... will learn soon, very soon.” Then, “The call is answered.”

On Aegis, something tries to penetrate the defense grid from subspace, focusing first on the station, then targeting the shipyard, where the alien seems to answer in a color-based language.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 20 November 2015

1 February 2388 - Stardate 2388.032

TBS was 30 minutes.

The time is 1200 hours—1200 am—Aegis local.

Captain Ramson is being restrained by a cavern tree, though it has not harmed her. The rest of the away team has forged ahead, farther into the cavern in search of the alien signal’s source.

On Aegis, tension increased as the subspace probes centered on our alien visitor. Since they seem to be only interested in recovering their missing, Commander Coleridge gave the order to release the alien to its people. Dr. Pavilion and LtCdr Lawliet have returned to Aegis with a report on their encounter.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 27 November 2015

1 February 2388 - Stardate 2388.032

[unofficial Game]

TBS was 60 minutes.

The time is 1400 hours—2 pm—Aegis local.

While Captain Ramson communes with the trees, the rest of Aegean’s away team are deep within the cave, following a series of canals to a structure that contains chemical and energy readings closely resembling the configuration of the droid core.

For the moment, all is quiet on Aegis.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 4 December 2015

1 February 2388 - Stardate 2388.032

TBS was 30 minutes.

The time is 1530 hours—3:30 pm—Aegis local.

Commander Coleridge spent time wandering Aegis, re-familiarizing himself with the departments in an effort to adjust to his broader dimensions as the station’s Executive Officer.

As Aegean’s away team moved deeper into the cave, the return path disappeared. They now seem to be trapped in a cavern where the trees are manipulating crystals that contain droid cores in various states of development, leading the away team to believe that this area might be a droid nursery.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 11 December 2015

1 February 2388 - Stardate 2388.032

TBS was 30 minutes.

The time is 1700 hours—5:00 pm—Aegis local.

In an attempt to escape from the cave that has them locked in a droid nursery, Aegean’s resident ninja cat climbs the wall, jumps toward a hole that appears in the ceiling, and is deftly caught by Captain Ramson, who is obviously no longer in the company of trees.

Aegis was again threatened by a subspace probe. No biological or metallic signs were detected, but there was a strong energy signature. A strange mist appeared outside the station, after which the station lost power. At sim begin, the power is still off except for emergency power in sick bay, on the CnC, and in other vital areas of the station.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 18 December 2015

1 February 2388 - Stardate 2388.032

[Last Sim of 2015 - No sim for the next two weeks.]

TBS was 30 minutes.

The time is 1830 hours—7:30 pm—Aegis local.

Aegis is still on emergency power. Strange signals, similar to binary code, are coming from the linguistics section of the computer core. USS Toronto says that the station is pulsing and glowing “like an emergency light stick”.

Aegean’s away team is looking for a way out of the cavern. Without her psionic verbalizer, Captain Ramson is making good use of Dr. Sandero’s telepathy to communicate with the team. They finally reach a room that appears to be a transporter room.

ion Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 8 January 2016

3 February 2388 - Stardate 2388.034

TBS was 2 days.

The time is 1830 hours—6:30 pm—Aegis local.

Power is back on Aegis, and the station is no longer glowing. Random power surges and strange fluctuations continue, with some people reporting sightings of faces and voices coming from displays. The cause of these phenomena remains unknown. Nonessential systems remain offline and computer access is restricted while the investigation continues.

Aegean’s away team had its own share of adventure. Captain Ramson succeeded in establishing a minimal form of communication with the droid cores. After some investigation of the humanoids by the droids, the team beamed back to the ship.

3 February 2388 - Stardate 2388.034

TBS was 10 minutes.

The time is 2000 hours—8:00 pm—Aegis local.

Aegean has left the droid planet. While on course for Aegis, long range sensors detected an unidentifiable contact. Captain Ramson has diverted the Aegean, under cloak, to investigate.

On Aegis, the crew continued to puzzle over a mysterious fog that appeared and disappeared in random areas at random intervals. Security Officer Cayne has been besieged with calls about strange faces appearing on consoles. Certain areas experienced power drains. In an attempt to establish sentience—or at least some kind of intelligence—we tried various forms of communication. It finally responded to Morse code. At sim end, the fog appeared in Command and Control and formed a shape that vaguely resembled Commander Coleridge.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 22 January 2016

3 February 2388 - Stardate 2388.034

There was no TBS.

The time is 2100 hours—9:00 pm—Aegis local.

Aegean has diverted from its destination to investigate a strange spacecraft that Captain Ramson believes might be part of a large fleet. While they monitor it, a more massive ship appears from subspace and docks with the smaller. Captain Ramson suggests attacking now because “ When it is out of subspace it is vulnerable to most any conventional attack…. your ship could inflict considerable damage.”

Aegis is still puzzling over the presence of the strange fog that drains energy from some areas, has shown rudimentary communication skills, and attempted to appear as Commander Coleridge. It is presently hugging a reactor in main engineering. Dr. Pavilion and LtCdr Lawliet have orders to study it, but not interfere. Command is working on a contingency plan should it become hostile.

5 February 2388 - Stardate 2388.036

TBS is 2 days.

The time is 0600 hours—6:00 am—Aegis local.

Aegean has the real Captain Ramson back. The droid that impersonated her has returned to the Treevian planet, taking Aegean’s cloaking technology with it. This means that the DroidCore ships can now cloak.

USS Missouri is escorting Aegean to Aegis.

On Aegis, our strange fog is clinging to a reactor and has begun rudimentary communication through a console - rudimentary being the operative word, since it’s not making much sense.

5 February 2388 - Stardate 2388.036

TBS is 5 hours.

The time is 1200 hours, noon Aegis local.

Aegean has returned to Aegis. USS Missouri is in orbital dock as a precaution.

Captain Ramson reported to Commander Coleridge, along with LtCdr Kital and Captain Chirakis. She did not assume command, preferring to rest after her ordeal. As a precaution, Commander Coleridge has ordered a full medical and psychological evaluation of Captain Ramson.

The rest of Aegean’s crew concentrated on settling in to home. The mysterious fog “being” is becoming more active, but not threatening. It attempted communication again, to Dr. Pavilion via the comm system to sick bay. Whether it is sentient is still in question.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 12 February 2016

6 February 2388 - Stardate 2388.037

TBS is 24 hours.

The time is 1300 hours, 1 pm Aegis local.

Now securely docked at Aegis, Aegean is in full working order. Damage to the recovery effort was minimal and has been repaired.

To ensure station security, Commander Coleridge ordered a complete physical and psychological evaluation of Captain Ramson. Both Dr. Pavilion and Dr. Davis concluded that the captain is Captain Ramson and poses no threat to station security. Engineering will study any data that could have been stored in her psionic verbalizer.

After an encounter with the "fog", Captain d’Ka believes that Aegis has a new species that could have been drawn into this dimension by a subspace rift and is now trapped here.
