Trivial Distraction

Assistant Medical Officer's Log

Victor had decided to release himself from work and the tension from the trial ordeal for a few minutes and was using the holodeck. Dressed in a white suit with a black pair of trousers he stood on the stage of a 30’s club crooning.

“Heaven. I’m in heaven. And my heart beats so that I can hardly speeeeeeeeeeeeak. And I seem to find the happiness I seek, when we’re out together dancing cheek to cheek.” He took a moment to wink at one of the holodeck ladies in true style.

Whilst the trumpet player did a solo, a large man in a dark suit with two similarly dressed accomplices came up to the stage.

“Mr. Images, my employer is not pleased with your antics lately” he stated in a menacing tone.

“What are you going to do about it?” Victor answered, cool as ice.

“This!”

As he pulled the roscoe, Victor gave him a high kick in the face before, doing a roll to dodge his associates. The program loaded a rock tune as background music as he dispensed with the two muscle on the dance floor with his quick reflexes and moves.

After they both fell to the floor with the applause of the holographic audience, Victor thought to himself “Ah, a mix of good music, style, class and kung fu fighting, I can’t believe it took me so long to think of it.”

At the sound of a slow clap, Victor turned around to see…a villain with an eye-patch.

“Very good Vic, very good. But let’s see how good you really are. Get him!”

Just as the dozen Mafioso’s burst in armed to the teeth, Victor got called on his commbadge nestled in his left pocket.

“Pause program” he said glumly as he fished the badge out. “Doctor Images here”

“I’m so sorry Doctor”, one of his nurses said “but there’s an urgent message for you that just arrived.”

“I’ll be up in a moment”, he replied before letting out a sigh. “Computer, save and exit program”

He walked out of the holodeck whistling the James Bond theme.
