An Actual Short Film

Hey all,

Two days ago my friends and i completed and sent off another short 10 minute film to a 48 hour film-making contest. I've got thinking, it's about time i made something short that related to trek at some point. If you have any ideas what that could be, tell me, No matter how wacky they are! but please remember that we are not working on a big budget here...or even a midsize one! small would probably be just right, if we were very very lucky. :D

Oh yeah.  Twenty people sitting at desks staring at computers... Now THAT's entertainment!

 

We actually were going to so a "simming" skit at a convention contest a few years ago and have a bridge set up, and we'd all be there sitting at bridge stations typing on laptops...  But nobody felt like organizing it.  lol

Do a movie where theres a guy at work...staring at the clock...getting impatient, rushing through his work, turning it in unfinished. The buzzer rings and he jumps out of his desk, runs to the elevator but OH NO! its on the first floor so he beelines down the stairs and out the window. Jumps into his car and races out of the parking lot...doesnt bother stopping for the guardpost and rams through the gate. Races down the street, barrels onto his lawn parking his car right in front of his doorway. Races inside, jumps in front of his computer, clicks into the chatroom and checks his watch. 9PM, right on time. And starts simming.

I don't know, I think it could be worked out.

 

Imagine a bunch of people having a LAN party simming.  You could have one of the computers hooked up to a video projector and flash the chat screen on the wall or something so the audience knows what is being typed.

 

Then one of the participants says something about the sim that another character (or characters) don't like.  They throw stuff at him and the camera catches it.  

 

It would have to be like slapstick in order to work for your project, but I think it could.

hmmmm it appears that since this has digressed to tomato throwing i will have to finda new place to steal- er i mean BORROW ideas! i was thinking of a slasher story where the group is saved by the trekkie and the star wars fan is horribly mangled...just after the lotr fan of course who will definitely get chopped after the alias fan   :D  ah, what an evil mind dwells inside a film-maker!

I saw a piece of fan fiction once that was called "The Universal Science Fiction Satire" or something like that.  It spoofed everything - Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, Hitchhiker's Guide, Dr. Who, Back to the Future, even non sci-fi stuff like Get Smart and Sesame Street.  Funniest thing I ever saw, but the author never finished it.

 

Anyway, there was this one scene where Worf beamed down to a Star Trek convention.  The convention organizers had him play himself for a skit and then told him he was bad at it!    :D

Sounds like a phone operatercompany. That would be a good movie. A 911 call is sent to a phone operators place cause its a blonde that doesnt know how to dial 911 cause she cant find the 11.

Okay, this is just devolving into sentences made up of words I understand, but arranged in ways that make me just squint my eyes and scratch my head.  Let's try to keep this on topic without veering into discussions of hair color or preferred beverage (at least I *think* those were the tangents), thanks.
