Harrington Patrol Assignment

HAVCAP Alpha

 

Rear Admiral Shauna Coyote had always been a shrewd commanding officer, the skill in play even when she was CAG back during their days on the USS Warlock.

 

When Calestorm had briefed her on the situation with Elder Rinx, Ol’ Shauna had issued immediate orders that in addition to the regular CAP for the Harrington patrol assignment she wanted a HAVCAP specifically assigned to the Comanche Creek in lieu of Mister PITA’s threat.

 

A minor issue had come up regarding the high asset patrol, mainly when Calestorm had announced she’d be pulling flight time to protect the ship right along with her pilots if the ‘Creek was now considered a high value target. The conversation had gone as per normal.

 

“Captain, I’d like to remind you that you are an asset as well--”

 

“Wait…did you just call me an ass?”

 

“Crash!!”

 

Cale couldn’t help it. She’d been going back and forth with Shauna like that for years, from way back when they couldn’t stand one another. Thankfully that had been the fleeting product of youthful arrogance and ambition – from both women, thank you very much – and they called one another comrade and friend now.

 

Her tactical flippancy had had the desired effect on her commanding officer and she’d gotten Coyote to back off from pulling the Comanche Creek from duty, convincing her that there was no immediate threat from some old man with a Cartel leadership complex. The compromise had been the HAVCAP and that was perfectly fine with Calestorm.

 

The Brass wanted a close eye kept on the Comanche Creek? Fine. Her ship, her rules and she’d fly right alongside the Sheep Farm herself for the alpha shift flight.

 

Crash flicked a quick sequence of commands into her console and received immediate confirmation from the enlisted officer on duty for ‘Creek Flight Operations.

 

“This is Lightning Twenty. Acknowledged and with the Sheep Farm.”

 

“FOPS acknowledges. Good to have you flying next to us Crash.”

 

The ‘Creeks acting CAG spoke over the wireless, her purring lilt calm and steady as always. “HAV Alpha, I’m going to go check on the kids on the forward CAP. Keep an eye on things here.”

 

She stifled a chuckle. The Caitian wasn’t that much older than a kid herself. Well, compared to Calestorm she wasn’t that much older…”Acknowledged Jumper.”

 

Within seconds the felinoid had maneuvered her sleek Lightning-class fighter away from the ship and began making time towards the forward point of the main patrol.

 

Crash maneuvered her own fighter at a much slower pace and began an inverted arc across the saucer area in order to switch sides and do a lazy fly by of the bridge…
