Demore's Personal Log

I wrote this this morning, just now getting around to posting it.... oh well. Enjoy!

Reversing the turbolift, Demore went to one of the remaining Holodecks that were open, and not being used. Walking over to the computer monitor, Hewitt loaded one of his favorite programs.

"Computer, load program Demore T-4, level 3." He heard a beep reply from the computer, and the surrounding area turned into a beautifully designed tennis arena.

Hewitt shook his head. "Computer, a grass court." The Arthur Ash stadium disappeared, and what showed up in it's place was Centre Court at the The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon, England.

Tennis was one of Demore's favorite sports. Actually, he never really enjoyed the "normal" sports as a teenager. He rarely went to a basketball or football game. But, tennis was his sport. He had played for many years and, on his own, had gotten quite good. When he began playing in the Holodecks, he got even better.

Hewitt thought back to his last match, and what he needed to practice on. Returns was his biggest problem. "Computer, load player Andy Roddick - difficulty high." The computer replyed with a simple beep.

He showed up on the opposite side of the court, ready to serve. "Computer, load spectators in the bleachers." An audience suddenly appeared, and a select few were holding signs.

The chair umpire leaned toward her microphone. "Begin play. Mister Demore will be receiving the first serve, and Mister Roddick will be serving it."

Demore got in ready position, and moved backward a tiny amount. The first serve zoomed by him with amazing speed: an ace.

Switching over to the Advantage side of the court, Demore prepared for the next serve. Using this as a stress reliever, Demore continued his match.

Hewitt even won one game in the second set on his serve. He was quite proud of that single game and, after he played the match (in which he inevitably lost), he brought out a hopper of balls, and began practicing serves.

He continued practicing until his left arm (he is left-handed) began to hurt, and exited the Holodeck to change, and get cleaned up to attend the hearing later that day.
