Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 22 August 2014

8 November 2387 - Stardate 2387.313

TBS was 4 hours.

The time at sim begin is 1100.

We are investigating the possibility that the asteroid belt was formed by remnants of a world that was destroyed eons ago. To that end, a complete survey of the asteroid field is in progress. Engineering is working on the power cores in regards to the transmission magnification.

The Caldeonian Defense Force will remain with Aegis until Starfleet gets its act together. Chancellor (Mr.) Roberts informed its commanding officer, Rear Admiral Nynaeve, that Carrier Battlegroup Aegis is launching under her command. All orders for maneuvering will come from Mr. Roberts; the High Command will be informed.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 29 August 2014

8 November 2387 - Stardate 2387.313

TBS was 4 hours.

The time at sim begin is 1600 (4 pm) Local.

Captain T’Mir of the Caledonian Defense Force Destroyer CDS Gan Ning, has received orders to “Proceed to following star systems—Valaria, Mariah, Gemulon, Barham—with your task group, and investigate for possible Tjurakh pirate or Orion Cartel activity and report. Do not attempt to engage ships from either Threat Force, unless engaged. If no activity is noted in any of the assigned star systems, return to Aegis Station for resupply, refueling and reassignment. If activity is detected, observe and report.”

Elements of the Caldeonian Defense Force remains in Aegis orbit until the Carrier Battle Group Aegis arrives, or until Starfleet gets its act together, whichever happens first. There’s a pool circulating on the latter; most are betting that Starfleet will never achieve that goal.

Engineering is busy with an extensive survey of the asteroid belt, and testing of the station’s power cores.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 5 September 2014

22 November 2387 - Stardate 2387.326

TBS was 2 weeks.

The time at sim begin is 0600 Local.

The runabout, LongBow, has returned to Aegis after a complete survey of the asteroid field. SrLtn Lawliet’s initial observation noted that there is an asteroid in section L-36 that could have been a planet’s core. SubCommander Jorahl suggested that, assuming the planet was still in the general area when it exploded, TKR-117 would have been the closest gravitational source. Analysis of the complete survey is now available.

At sim begin, SrLtn Lawliet will present his findings to Captain Chirakis, Mr. Roberts, and SubCommander Jorahl in the CnC conference room.

Concerning the transmissions that blocked communications in Aegis space for 48 hours, Commander Coleridge raided science for a quantum spectrograph to diagnose a power core ODN pathway assembly. He is investigating the possibility that an assembly error caused by virtual particles created from a subspace transmission interacted with our space-time. (Pamphlets of explanation are available at a reasonable price.) Let us hope the assembly capitulated and is still intact.

Elements of the Caledonian Defense Force, Captain T’Mir of the CDS Gan Ning commanding, are now approaching the Valarian system, tasked with watching for activity from the Tjurakh, the Orion Cartels, or both.

SubCommander tr’Jeth Dabi has recovered from his physical injuries.

October 13, Canadian Thanksgiving, marked the beginning of the holiday season for earth’s North American countries. Stores in the commerce area are suitably decorated.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 12 September 2014

29 November 2387 - Stardate 2387.333

TBS was 1 week.

The time at sim begin is 0600 Local.

The theory that the asteroid field in Aegis space was once a single stellar object seems to be corroborated by a computer model based on the data gathered from a survey. Through extensive research, SrLtn Lawliet has also theorized that the transmissions that disrupted Aegis’ communication system were somehow broadcast through time, though how remains undetermined.

Cmdr Coleridge has deployed error-correction algorithms for the power core subroutines as a remedy for the transmission disruptions. Our hope is that the disruptions were a one-time occurrence, but there always the possibility that recent anomalies in the area may create an annual occurrence. In any event, we will prepare for it as best we can and deal with it when or if it happens.

In other news, the station is getting back to Aegis normal, which is not necessarily ordinary normal, and is preparing for the terran holiday season.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 19 September 2014

23 December 2387 - Stardate 2387.357

TBS was 24 days.

At sim begin, the time is 1000 local, on Wednesday, 23 December, 2387.

For the most part, the population of Aegis has been enjoying the festive atmosphere and the economic boom created by the Terran holiday season. Thoughts of war, debilitating systems’ disruptions, and the general status of Aegis as a strategic remote station on the edge of Allied space have been put aside.

Those who preserve and protect the station, however, remain watchful. Times like these draw the attention of enemies and opportunists who contemplate the possibility of catching a large, strategic Allied facility off-guard.

24 December 2387 - Stardate 2387.358

TBS was 24 hours.

At sim begin, the time is 1100 local, on Wednesday, 24 December, 2387.

It was snowing on the commerce deck of the new station. It is no longer snowing.

The bird whose nest blocked the environmental systems’ intake duct and created our “white Christmas” has taken refuge the park. Similar in appearance (but not in color) to the Thunderbird, it is considered a living symbol of the Romulan Star Empire and was believed extinct after the Great Fire. The one on Aegis may be the only one in existence. For that reason, the bird and its nest has been declared off-limits.

It is Christmas Eve.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 3 October 2014

31 December 2387 - Stardate 2387.365

TBS was 1 week.

At sim begin, the time is 2300 local, on Thursday, 31 December, 2387.

It is New Year’s Eve.

Most of the station has erased all thought of conflict in favor of celebrating with feast, song, and family gatherings. The snow has melted to be replaced with decorations for the new year about to begin.

Elsewhere, business continues as usual. The Caledonian Defense Force, under the command of Captain t’Mir, has reported negative suspicious activity in both Valeria and Mariah; they are now proceeding to Gemulon.

On Aegis, just before midnight, a bejeweled diamond, crystal, and latinum ball will lower slowly from the top of the station’s central area (just outside the CnC) to the park at the bottom, spreading its dazzling light throughout the area and ending its journey precisely at 2400/0000, marking the beginning of the year 2388.

Ambassador Drankum is a special guest of Captain Chirakis.

7 January 2388 - Stardate 2388.007

TBS was 1 week.

At sim begin, the time is 0800 local, on Thursday, 7 January, 2388.

We are seven days into the new year, and so far it is business as usual.

The Caledonian Defense Force, under the command of Captain t’Mir, has reported negative suspicious activity in both Valeria and Maria and are presently monitoring Gemulon. The Aegis Carrier Battlegroup is due to arrive any day now, bolstering the defenses of the station.

7 January 2388 - Stardate 2388.007

TBS was 3 hours.

The time is 1200 local, on Thursday, 7 January, 2388.

Pakleds have docked at the shipyard in a ship that was probably new when the NASA Space Shuttle Enterprise was rolled out. Scott has drawn the short straw and is going over to the shipyards to handle their inspection before they’re allowed to trade with the station. Captain T’Mir of the Caledonian Defense Force is still patrolling, and reinforcements should be due in any day.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 24 October 2014

7 January 2388 - Stardate 2388.007

TBS was 10 minutes.

The time is 1400 local, on Thursday, 7 January, 2388.

Previously on Sky Harbor Aegis:

The Pakled ship is docked in a remote area of the shipyard. Inspection produced nothing but a large shipment of rocks. However, SubCommander Jorahl’s wish for “a single safety violation” bore fruit in the form of enough “violation” to cause a conflagration, so there is not much left of the Pakled ship to impound. Debris lit up the shipyard “like a 4th of July firecracker” and peppered the shipyard’s shields.

Commander Coleridge and Lieutenant Rambo barely escaped. The Caledonian Defense Force, Aegis’ Vector One, and CDF fighters stood by to assist in crew rescue, and several wounded were inbound to Aegis sick bay.

Somehow, a single cargo container with barely readable life signs ejected itself from the transport before it blew.

7 January 2388 - Stardate 2388.007

TBS was 30 minutes.

The time is 1530 local, on Thursday, 7 January, 2388.

We have Pakleds in sick bay.

We have a Horta in sick bay.

An adolescent Horta was found in a freight pod that escaped the Pakled ship before it exploded. Its lifesigns were low and fading, but medical has succeeded in stabilizing it. We have yet to communicate with it effectively.

SubCommander Korjata is scanning the debris field for the Pakleds’ flight recorder; hopefully we will find the Horta’s origins, where it was captured, and who captured it. Commander Marx is investigating the possibility of trafficking in sentient beings.

8 January 2388 - Stardate 2388.008

TBS was 12 hours.

The time is 0600 local, on Friday, 8 January, 2388.

Sr. Lieutenant Lawliet has succeeded in getting at least some information from the Pakleds (besides the insistence that their ship was broken). They don’t know what a Horta is, they purchased their rocks from green, strange looking men with pointed ears and a strange smell. They were told that the rocks were very valuable and that Aegis would buy them.

SubCommander Korjata has returned with pieces of the Pakled ship’s flight recorder. Hopefully we will gather some information from it.

As if the Horta and the Pakleds were not enough, some crew were touched with icy fingers and plagued with gooey blobs that appeared on their clothes (and they weren't even eating).

8 January 2388 - Stardate 2388.008

TBS was 2 hours.

The time is 0900 local, on Friday, 8 January, 2388.

Engineering is in the process of gathering and deciphering what is left of the data from the Pakled ship’s flight recorder. Captain Chirakis is reviewing the initial report.

SrLtn Lawliet learned little from talking to the Pakled.

The Horta remains in guarded condition in sick bay.

And in other news, in the course of refurbishing an aircraft engine, Commander Marx has caused considerable damage to his laboratory. Thanks to the fire suppression system, the damage is not irreparable. At present, he is giving it a good cleaning.

8 January 2388 - Stardate 2388.008

TBS was 3 hours.

The time is 1300 local, on Friday, 8 January, 2388.

Though the words “records” and “Pakled” don’t necessarily belong in the same sentence, engineering has found evidence of tampering with the Pakled flight recorder as they continue to explore the Pakled ship’s explosion. According to Grogg, the Pakled captain, the rocks were given to them by a “not so clean” Romulan.

Damage to the shipyard from the Pakled ship explosion is minimal, but for extra precaution, warning buoys and patrols are keeping the area free of traffic.

The Horta is in guarded condition in sick bay. Dr. Pavilion is looking for a source of silica rich rock so it can feed.

On an unrelated note, Ensign Teresa joins the science department, and Commander Marx uses The Marx School of Indiscriminate Grappling and Amazon Wu Shu House Cleaning to clean up the mess he created in his laboratory.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 28 November 2014

8 January 2388 - Stardate 2388.008

TBS for this unofficial game is 10 minutes.

We will play inside the 3 hour TBS for our next official game.

The time is 1410 local (2 pm), Friday, 8 January, 2388.

Captain Chirakis has relinquished command of Aegis to Mr. Roberts. She is about to depart on her fighter, Drakkor.

Engineering is tracking the route of the Pakled ship to determine the source of their cargo, which might point to the point of abduction of the Horta. In determining the cause of the Pakled ship explosion, they consider the possibility that a random ion from their transport beam may have been the catalyst, though the ship was in such poor repair that any number of problems could have caused it.

In sick bay, the Horta’s condition is guarded as they search for a source of appropriate rocks for Horta consumption. The Pakleds are close to release, making station security an iffy proposition. Science is reviewing information on the Pakleds and the Horta.

8 January 2388 - Stardate 2388.008

TBS was 3 hours.

The time is 1700 (5 pm) local, on Friday, 8 January, 2388.

Captain Chirakis has quietly slipped away from Aegis, destination unknown. Most of the crew does not know she has gone.

Mr. Roberts is now Commanding Officer of Sky Harbor Aegis. XO to be announced.

At sim begin, there is a command and staff dinner at Drankum’s.

Ongoing:

Tracking the Pakled ship to determine the source of their cargo.

Finding a consumable replicated rock for Horta and assuring an acceptable environment.

The Pakleds are close to release, making station security an iffy proposition.

10 January 2388 - Stardate 2388.009

TBS was 12 hours.

The time is 0800 (8 am) local.

The beginning of Alpha Shift.

It has been three days since the Pakled ship exploded in a remote docking area of the shipyard.

Engineering is tracking the route of the Pakled ship to determine the source of their cargo, hoping it will give us the point of abduction of the Horta. We are investigating the possibility that someone at that point of abduction is trafficking in sentient beings.

The Caledonian Defense Force remains Aegis’ main defense. The whereabouts of the Border Patrol is unknown, but at last report, USS Missouri was on the opposite side of the sector on an undisclosed mission. Subspace chatter indicates that relying on assistance from the Allied Powers may not be forthcoming.

Pakleds: “Want small, shiny rock! You find!”

The Horta seems to be doing well, consuming the replicated silica-rich rocks.

The shipyard has resumed production after the Pakled incident.

12 January 2388 - Stardate 2388.012

TBS was 48 hours.

The time is 0800 (8 am) local.

The Pakled’s route has been traced to a nebula where, about 3 months ago, it took an unexplained detour to a remote area where it could have offloaded undocumented cargo. Commander Ramson has ordered scientific survey probe launches, one to penetrate that nebula.

The Horta is well, and, as an adolescent, is consuming enough to put a human male teenager to shame, although we can be thankful that it does not drink out of the milk carton.

The Pakleds are contained. (Therefore, Coleridge is well and should not be shaking, dropping tools, or otherwise displaying the signs of insanity.)

12 January 2388 - Stardate 2388.012

TBS was 2 hours.

The time is 1100 local.

The scientific survey probes that Commander Ramson ordered have entered the nebula where the Pakleds could have offloaded undocumented cargo. The probes are transmitting data, secifically looking for a planetoid, station, or a safe harbor that could be serving as a center for illegal activity.

In a dramatic slipstream arrival, Mr. Roberts returned with the Revenge and five Hyneman Class Special Operations Cruisers from 177th SOE (Special Operations Executive) group.

The horta has given birth, once again proving that our methods of determining the sex of such beings is limited. An attempt to question the Horta about its abduction is being considered. There is concern that, for their welfare, she and her offspring be returned to the planet of origin.

SubCommander tr’Korjata is no longer stuck in the turbolift at the CnC. Commander Coleridge is working on improvements to the subspace transporter, and is planning on inventing a new domain-specific language for parsing subspace-theoretic constraints within the Schroedinger boundary equation module. If you know what that is, you are welcome to assist.

12 January 2388 - Stardate 2388.012

TBS was 10 minutes.

The time is 1210 local.

After Ltn Lawliet established a telepathic connection, the Horta accessed monitors throughout the station to communicate. As Lawliet questioned her, the tactical display in the Command and Control center shifted to show a small, nondescript and mostly barren planet, located directly along the path the Pakleds took through the nebula. We believe that planet is the Horta’s home world, and one of our scientific probes has been rerouted to that planet for investigation.

In our quest to make sense of the relationship among the Pakleds, the Horta, and the nebula, we have discovered that, for no apparent reason, several ships have recently passed through the nebula.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 6 February 2015

12 January 2388 - Stardate 2388.012

TBS was 48 hours.

The time is 1300 (1 pm) Aegis local.

Investigation into the nebula through which the Pakled ship traveled is ongoing, as is the location of the Horta’s home world. Data from a probe sent to what could be the Horta’s home world initially showed either deposits that could be mined or deposits that were offloaded for some reason. One probe is in secluded orbit and has been gathering data for the last 48 hours.

Aegis has received a tactical alert that USS Vladivostok, a scientific research vessel, may be under the control of persons other than Starfleet. The Vladivostok’s last report came eight days ago from the outskirts of Nebula 236A where they were about to investigate “signals inconsistent with data they gathered a year ago.” The ship has been sighted by a Starfleet Border Patrol task force in a nebula outside Federation space.

15 January 2388 - Stardate 2388.015

TBS was 12 hours.

The time is 0200, Aegis local.

Scans from the probe sent to the Horta’s home world have produced some interesting results, among which are a large, totally alien ship and a very old model Romulan transport that dropped cargo pods to the surface, then retrieved them, contents unknown. Science and tactical are working on identifying as much as possible.

USS Vladivostok, a ship suspected to be in the possession of non-Starfleet personnel, is still being watched by USS Warren of the Border Patrol task force. By using Vladivostok’s present course and by tracing their progress through the nebula, the USS Warren hopes to determine their probable origin and destination. USS Warren’s data should soon begin to stream from USS Missouri to Aegis Command and Control and other secure facilities of the Allied Powers.

The fate of the Starfleet crew of USS Vladivostok is still in question.

15 January 2388 - Stardate 2388.015

TBS was 8 hours.

The time is 1100, Aegis local.

Mr. Roberts has received information from the USS Warren and Rendezvous October, adding the situation with the USS Vladivsotok to the already puzzling data they have received from our resident Horta’s home world.

There is a mystery regarding a hijacked Federation starship, a kidnapped Horta (now aboard Aegis), and a planet where unsavory traffic is occurring. Mr. Roberts is contemplating a field trip to “a certain region of space that needs to be investigated.”
