USS Challenger 06.08.2014

Cptn Ja'Lale -> Last week on the Challenger, both sides have engaged in a full on civil war while they were there to negotiate a deal on dilithium acquisition. Capt. Ja'Lale and the crew continue to discuss options and await any word from Starfleet on what to do next. TBS was a few hours.. any questions?

Dvokr chim Hok -> Ehh..

Cptn Ja'Lale -> BEGIN SIM

Cptn Ja'Lale -> BEGIN SIM

Cptn Ja'Lale -> BEGIN SIM

Gretchen Hanson -> ::back in sick bay after a few hours rest;;;

John Randall -> ::in engineering, receiving data from the probes::

H.G. Reed -> :: Having a cup of tea on break. ::

Hunter Matheson -> ::still at helm, wondering where the ambassador is::

Cassie Granger -> ASO> ::flight ops::

Derrick Sabin -> ::made a quick dash to the mess for a sandwich during the shift change, but back on station on the bridge now::

Dyan Sylvanis -> @ ::With Shadow squadron, conducting a search pattern for the Ambassador.::

Dvokr chim Hok -> :: The Tellarite is manning the comm boards, as always ::

Cptn Ja'Lale -> ::settling into his seat:: Any word from Starfleet or the Ambassador?

Dvokr chim Hok -> Captain, an incoming transmission from Starfleet.

Derrick Sabin -> ::scans are showing a lull in the ground fighting for the moment:::

Cptn Ja'Lale -> On screen.

EddieFreeman -> ::flipping between probes and video of the ground fighting::

Dvokr chim Hok -> :: Puts transmission on screen ::

Gretchen Hanson -> ::the face of Adm. Middleton fills the screen, not looking happy:::

Gretchen Hanson -> Adm. Middleton> ::eyes dart from side to side, as he sees his transmission is on the open bridge::: Captain Ja'Lale, is this where you want to take this?

Hunter Matheson -> ::suddenly finds his console very interesting::

Cptn Ja'Lale -> It's regrettable it has to come to this, but yes. I don't see any other option. The diplomatic approach failed.

Cassie Granger -> ASO> ::watching the feed from flight ops::

Gretchen Hanson -> Adm. Middleton> I meant the message, Captain. But very well, I guess there's no point in secrecy now, given the events that have transpired on the planet.

Dyan Sylvanis -> @ Misty> ::Beginning open scans as they pass over certain areas.::

Cassie Granger -> ASO> ::mutes com except for squadron:: +Shadow+ Shadow 1, this is Shadow Base. You listening in to Challenger's feed?

Cptn Ja'Lale -> The message, yes.. as you said, the situation has grown way out of proportion. We wanted options.

Dvokr chim Hok -> :: The Ambassador finds himself in a small room, presumably deep underground ::

Dyan Sylvanis -> @ +ASO+ Sorry Ma'am, I have it on mute. Searching for the ambassador, hoping no one takes pot shots in the process.

Cassie Granger -> ASO> +Hawk+ Key in on Challenger's feed and see if you can get a fix on the origin.

Cassie Granger -> ::turns to the rest in Flight OPS, looking for answers::

Dyan Sylvanis -> @ +ASO+ Roger. ::Keys in.::

Gretchen Hanson -> Adm. M> Options are something we're in short supply of. You requested sanctions on Bimaal for instigating the attack on Amaal. I'm not sure that's going to be an effective short term tactic, but you're on the ground, so to speak, and I'll support you in that.

Cptn Ja'Lale -> ::Nods:: I appreciate the support and I agree.. but those sanctions should have an effective long term tactic should this war go on for an extended period of time

Gretchen Hanson -> Adm. M> We need to make sure the war doesn't go on long term. What are your plans for the short term to accomplish that?

Dvokr chim Hok -> Ambassador: I demand to speak to whomever is in charge here! Why were we taken?

Dyan Sylvanis -> @ ::Calls back to Misty.:: With the probes out, clearing up the jamming, can we try the Ambassador's comm?

H.G. Reed -> :: Leaves the mess and steps into the TL. :: Bridge.

Hunter Matheson -> ::still studying his console::

Dyan Sylvanis -> @ Misty> I'll give it a shot. ::Tries hailing the Ambassador.::

Dvokr chim Hok -> Ambassador: :: Hears no response ::

Cassie Granger -> ASO> ::hands grip the back of an operator's chair::

Cassie Granger -> ASO> ::leans over:: Can you triangulate?

Dyan Sylvanis -> @ Misty> I've got nothing.

Cptn Ja'Lale -> First off, we need to get the ambassador to Bimaal aboard and discuss the situation down there, secondly, we've launched some probes to the surface to get a better communications link with the two worlds, though I doubt either side would want to talk with us now. But that option is there. The ambassador may a key link in trying to negotiate a peace deal with the Bimaal and the Amaal as he's much more knowledgeable of the political situation here.

Cptn Ja'Lale -> We also have our starfighters on standby just in case.

Dyan Sylvanis -> @ ::Sighs:: Keep trying, he couldn't have just disappeared... ::Thinks a moment.:: Maybe they moved him underground.

Cassie Granger -> ASO> ::a glance out the window to the bay spots their ready five hot standby::

H.G. Reed -> :: Steps out of the TL onto the bridge. glances around before relieving Willis at NAV. ::

Gretchen Hanson -> Adm. M> Getting the Ambassador out is a good step. I hope your fighters won't be necessary in making that happen, but again, I'll support your call. One last warning.... the dilithium supply is crucial. and Bimaal has made noises about selling to the Romulans. I'd hate to think we pushed them into that.

Dvokr chim Hok -> :: A Bolian comes through the door, hands the Ambassador a disabled comm ::

Dyan Sylvanis -> @ Misty> Possible, that would make it quite difficult to contact him.

Cassie Granger -> ASO> ::getting a negative from the operator:: +Shadow+ Shadow 1, Shadow Base. Send Shadow 2 into position and try a triangulation.

Hunter Matheson -> ::notices Reed slip into position::merely nods::

Cptn Ja'Lale -> ::Nods:: We'll get the ambassador and salvage this. I'm sure of it.

Dyan Sylvanis -> @ +ASO+ Understood. ::Gives order.:: They are moving now.

H.G. Reed -> :: Nods to Kal and checks the console status. ::

Gretchen Hanson -> Adm. M> Very good, Captain. I'll leave it in your hands. Inform me of any changes. Middleton out. ::screen blanks to the SF emblem::

Dvokr chim Hok -> :: Blue Bolian: They are unlikely to find you now that this is disabled. Someone will be here shortly.

Cptn Ja'Lale -> ::sighs after the screen blanks:: I *hope* we can salvage this? (m) It would be easier if I were a Romulan captain...

Cptn Ja'Lale -> ::turns to Dvokr:: No luck locating the ambassador?

Dyan Sylvanis -> @ +ASO+ If we do find him and are unable to initiate transport, we'll need a Mule fueled and ready for launch. Recommend a detail to go along for the ride.

Dvokr chim Hok -> None Captain. He or his staff does not appear to be on the planet any longer.

Cptn Ja'Lale -> Tried tracking his dermal implant?

Cassie Granger -> ASO> +Hawk+ Copy. Mule is fueled, standing by. Detail will accompany.

Derrick Sabin -> ::can't resist jumping into Hok's conversation:: How could he get off the planet Hok? Neither side has much if any warp capability that we couldn't track.

Dvokr chim Hok -> Lost tracking of it some hours ago

Cptn Ja'Lale -> Hmm, but there are no ships in the area other than ours. Are you sure they're not on the planet?

Cassie Granger -> ASO> ::sends down to MARDET, scramble the team::

Dyan Sylvanis -> @ +ASO+ Bimaals and Amaals have unique biological readings correct? Would we be able to narrow the search field if we scan for specific bio readings? We'd need to intensify the scans though. I feel they may have moved him underground.

H.G. Reed -> :: Takes a quick sensor scan. ::

Derrick Sabin -> Sir, if they took him underground, all their dilithium deposits would make the comm next to impossible.

Cassie Granger -> ASO> +Hawk+ Could be right. Checking with medical. Stand by.

Cassie Granger -> ASO> +Hanson+ Granger to Hanson.

Derrick Sabin -> ::gets an idea:: +engineering+ Sabin to engineering.

Gretchen Hanson -> +granger+ Hanson here.

Cassie Granger -> ASO> +Hanson+ Doc, I need a biological reading for Bimaal and Amaal to separate it from human, earth origin. Can you supply?

Dvokr chim Hok -> I am not sure of anything Captain. They were last seen in the capital city

John Randall -> ::receiving data from the probes, hears the comm from Sabin:: +Bridge+ Engineering, Randall here.

Hunter Matheson -> ::drums his fingers lightly on the console while he checks their orbit::

Cptn Ja'Lale -> Hmm. Well, I'd like a scan of the area just in case. Scan for past traffic in the area in the last few hours.

Cptn Ja'Lale -> It's a long shot, but you never know.

Derrick Sabin -> +Eng+ Lieutenant, have you had an opportunity to analyze the Bolarian dilithium? Could we screen out its characteristics to get through the scanner interference?

Hunter Matheson -> ::turns:: Captain?

Dvokr chim Hok -> Ambassador: :: waits ::

John Randall -> +Bridge+ Not sure about that, Ensign, but we can modify a probe's orbit to get it closer to the surface, and reconfigure the audio array. That should help.

Gretchen Hanson -> +Granger+ I'll send you what I have. It's limited, and at first glance doesn't look all that much different than humans. Give me a minute and I'll also check to see if the Ambassador himself has any distinguishing characteristics in his dna patterns.

Cassie Granger -> ASO> +Hanson+ Copy. Standing by.

Derrick Sabin -> +Eng+ It might be that the Ambassador is being held under ground. That's what we need to cut through with a comm signal.

Cptn Ja'Lale -> Yes/

Cptn Ja'Lale -> ::to Hunter::

Hunter Matheson -> If we magnify the viewscreen to show the last known location of the ambassador, we might get an idea of where he could be. I'm thinking, maybe a mining tunnel, or even a series of caves? Hey... ::sudden idea:: The mines. The dilithium mines.

Gretchen Hanson -> ::pulls the Bolarian medical panel from the computer and forwards it to Granger. Begins a query to SF medical on the Ambassador himself::

John Randall -> +Bridge+ Hmm, that might be tough, Ensign, but we'll see what we can do. Give me about 3 minutes to make the adjustments.

Cptn Ja'Lale -> Good plan, Lieutenant. Make it happen.

Cptn Ja'Lale -> ::to Derrick:: Work with engineering and see what you guys can do.

H.G. Reed -> Do you think they might hide him there?

Cassie Granger -> ASO> ::receiving the data, feeds it into the mix:::

Hunter Matheson -> ::did he get promoted, or is the captain talking to someone else?::

John Randall -> ::calls up the display of the probes, studies it, chooses one, and makes adjustments, fingers flying over his panel::

Cptn Ja'Lale -> Where else would they hide him? Logically, stashing him underground would be the best place to hide him since it would be a lot harder to detect his biosigns

Cassie Granger -> ASO> +Hawk+ Medical scans of indigenous species on planet coming to you.

Derrick Sabin -> Already on it, Sir. Engineering is working on getting one of their probes to cut through the dilithium interference and get our signal underground.

Cptn Ja'Lale -> Good good..

H.G. Reed -> They might take him off world, but I think your theory is probably correct.

Hunter Matheson -> :::Reed:: Uh.. yes, ma'am. Makes sense. Dilithium would scramble signals somewhat, mask the target, and they're deep.

Dyan Sylvanis -> @ +ASO+ Roger we'll put this to some use. ::Pulls within the threshold of ground weapons range and begins a more intense set of scans. Shadows 2, 3, and 4 follow suit.::

Hunter Matheson -> We woulda seen them take him off world if they did.

H.G. Reed -> Likely, yes. However, it is possible.

Dyan Sylvanis -> @ ::Begins triangulations, coordinated with the probes and data from the ASO.::

Hunter Matheson -> Transported or starship - either would have shown on scanners.

John Randall -> ::finishes his adjustments, and punches the comm:: +Bridge+ All right, Ensign, probe J-2Z7 has been sent closer to the surface of the planet. Audio frequency is 1200 megahertz, best we can do.

Derrick Sabin -> +Eng.+ Great, thanks. ::to Hok:: Mr. Hok, I'm sending you an updated comm frequency from engineering's latest probe.

Hunter Matheson -> ::hearing Randall on the comm to engineering on the bridge::

Hunter Matheson -> ::or science::

Dvokr chim Hok -> :: Another Bolian comes in :: Sorry for the wait Ambassador. Arrangements had to be made.

Dvokr chim Hok -> Hok: I have it.

John Randall -> +Bridge+ No problem, glad to help. Randall out.

Dvokr chim Hok -> Bolian: Seems you have a fan up there in orbit. Your people have been trying to contact you for hours.

Dyan Sylvanis -> @ Misty> ::Gets a ping.:: I've got something!

John Randall -> Michaels> ::to Randall:: All that, of course, is assuming there's a working communication device down there.

Dyan Sylvanis -> @ Really? +ASO+ Misty says we have something Ma'am. Seems we have a match, along with....Bolians? Sending data, and I recommend Mule launch for recovery.

Hunter Matheson -> ::Reed:: You got control of the viewscreen, ma'am?

John Randall -> ::nods:: That's the one thing you can't control from up here, Jeff.

Dvokr chim Hok -> Bolian: We have set up a special type of comm, let me demonstrate.

Derrick Sabin -> +Eng+ Lt. Randall, one more thing. If the Ambassador IS underground, how far can the transporters reach to get him?

H.G. Reed -> :: Kal :: Yes. :: Taps console.

Dvokr chim Hok -> Bolian: :: Engages the comm :: +Challenger+ To the Federation ship in orbit. Who we are is not important, who we are holding is...

John Randall -> +Bridge+ 1000 feet is the limit, Ensign; I wouldn't try it past that point.

Dvokr chim Hok -> Hok: Incoming transmission to us Captain.

Cassie Granger -> ASO> +Shadow 1+ Copy. Mule standing by.

Derrick Sabin -> +Eng+ Noted. I'll pass that along.

John Randall -> +Bridge+ Acknowledged, Randall out.

H.G. Reed -> Is the magnification sufficient?

Cassie Granger -> +Bridge+ Granger to Captain Ja'Lale. Shadow 1 has detected activity beneath the surface. Bolian and indigenous life signs. Request extraction team deployment.

Cassie Granger -> +Sabin+ Data coming your way.

Hunter Matheson -> ::eyes scour the viewscreen:: Looking for mines, tunnels, caves...

Cptn Ja'Lale -> On screen ::to Hok::

Dvokr chim Hok -> Audio only Captain.

Derrick Sabin -> ::receives Granger's data, is about to inform the Captain when the comm interrupts and takes the Capt's attention::

Cptn Ja'Lale -> Very well.. play the message

Cptn Ja'Lale -> +ASO+ Deploy to position and stand by

Dvokr chim Hok -> Bolian: We have your friends in a secure location. We regret the action we needed to take.

Cassie Granger -> ASO> ::watching the data stream on the main flight console, the computer postulating a fix on the signal and location::

John Randall -> ::making minor adjustments to keep the probe in optimal orbiting position::

Cassie Granger -> ASO> ::sends orders to deploy the mule for standby in low orbit::

Dvokr chim Hok -> Bolian: We demand the Federation listen to our demands and gather the 'other' side for negotiations. They are obstructionists and need to be dragged to the bargaining table.

Cptn Ja'Lale -> PAUSE SIM

Cptn Ja'Lale -> PAUSE SIM

Cptn Ja'Lale -> PAUSE SIM

Cassie Granger -> ::pause::

John Randall -> ::paused::

Dyan Sylvanis -> ::paused::

Gretchen Hanson -> paused::

Hunter Matheson -> ::ditto::

Cptn Ja'Lale -> Ooh. Nicely done everyone. :)

Gretchen Hanson -> I need to clarify something with Mr. Hok, please

Cptn Ja'Lale -> We'll pick up from there next week?

Dvokr chim Hok -> Extra tired. Someone slipped me a decaf

Gretchen Hanson -> Mr. Hok, I believe your "bolian" is actually a Bolarian, namely a Bimaal person?

Dvokr chim Hok -> Right, I was not sure what side they were on now

Cassie Granger -> Well, that changes things just a bit, I guess.

Cassie Granger -> I don't suppose we can leave the Bolians involved?

Gretchen Hanson -> Remember, that Bolarus (the Bolarian people) is/are multinational and we're dealing with the Bimaal (the big guys) vs. the Amaal ( the little guys). So I believe that Hok has the Ambassador being held by the Bimaal, yes?

Dvokr chim Hok -> Okay

Cassie Granger -> Affirm

Gretchen Hanson -> (although, yes Cassie, I was going with Bolians as a 3rd party there for a while too. So I wanted Hok to clue me in as to his intentions.

Cassie Granger -> Saves a lot of backpedaling

Dvokr chim Hok -> I was understanding this was before they joined the Federation

Dyan Sylvanis -> Could always use a little bit more blue. :P

Cassie Granger -> Roger that

John Randall -> It's 2297, though; has the federation made contact with the Bolians yet?

Dvokr chim Hok -> They'd have to be a one government for consideration for membership

Cassie Granger -> Guess they have now :P

Dvokr chim Hok -> Let me see

Gretchen Hanson -> Hok's message from the captors demanded gathering the 2 sides together, and that's what made me think he was just mistaking Bolian for Bolarian.

Cassie Granger -> ::nod::

Cptn Ja'Lale -> Ah huh.

Gretchen Hanson -> If we keep the Bolians, I just need to figure out how to tie in this 3rd party to the negotiations.

Cptn Ja'Lale -> Good night folks... sim is dismissed!

John Randall -> night all

Cassie Granger -> Maybe the Bolians are the negotiators for the Bimaal?

Cptn Ja'Lale -> If there are no other questions that is... and TBS is zero?

Dvokr chim Hok -> Perhaps I'm really way off

Gretchen Hanson -> Captain do you want to pick a plot line? 3rd party Bolians, or Bimaal Bolarians?

Cptn Ja'Lale -> Don't worry. I made the same mistake.. their names do sound very familiar

Dvokr chim Hok -> Now I'm quite confused

Cptn Ja'Lale -> Hmm.. both sound interesting. Bimaal Bolarians as in different from the regular blue ones? There are two different types of Rigellians afterall

Dyan Sylvanis -> I don't see why we can't just have Bolians. They aren't a part of the Federation till sometime in the 2300's, but that doesn't mean we don't have contact with them.

Gretchen Hanson -> Ok, executive decision: 3rd party Bolians acting in behalf of the Bimaal.

Dvokr chim Hok -> They were known back in the 22nd century

Cptn Ja'Lale -> Sounds good to me!

Cassie Granger -> I figure it'll make the plot pretty interesting.

Cassie Granger -> There ya go. And are the Bolians eventually on the side of the Federation?

Gretchen Hanson -> I can work with that. Yes, a tbs of zero since we're in mid-sentence essentially with the comm.

Cassie Granger -> ::nod::

Cptn Ja'Lale -> Yes.. who else would cut Picards hair so well :P

Cassie Granger -> Right.

Cptn Ja'Lale -> Great

Dvokr chim Hok -> 3rd party Bolians acting on behalf of the Bimaal? The Bimaal are not Bolian?

Cptn Ja'Lale -> That was my understanding

Gretchen Hanson -> Nope, the Bimaal are Bolarian, the people of the planet Bolarus.

Dvokr chim Hok -> The name of the Nation state then

Gretchen Hanson -> I don't know where the Bolians are from.

Cassie Granger -> Bolia?

Dvokr chim Hok -> Bolarus

Cptn Ja'Lale -> Bolarus IX

Cptn Ja'Lale -> Hence the confusion

Gretchen Hanson -> No Bolians from Bolarus, please!

Gretchen Hanson -> REally, Bolarus?

Cptn Ja'Lale -> Yes, that's what Memory Alpha states.. I'll check Startrek

Dyan Sylvanis -> yeah Bolians are from the planet Bolarus.

Cassie Granger -> Right. Bolarus IX

Gretchen Hanson -> Well, that's my screw up then and my apologies for the confusion.

Dyan Sylvanis -> Bolarus IX to be exact.

Cassie Granger -> So, maybe they're related somehow? Black sheep relations?

Dvokr chim Hok -> Should be easy to fix

Cptn Ja'Lale -> Yeah...

Dyan Sylvanis -> right

Dyan Sylvanis -> same system

Dvokr chim Hok -> This is a time before they have a united government

Dyan Sylvanis -> quick and easy fix

Gretchen Hanson -> ooh, a solution... The Bolarians can be long lost cousins of the Bolians.

Cassie Granger -> Problem solved.

Cptn Ja'Lale -> Could do, yeah. Same system.

Cassie Granger -> Got to move on out.

Dvokr chim Hok -> 1st or second cousins/

Gretchen Hanson -> too much detail, Hok!

Dyan Sylvanis -> lol

Cassie Granger -> Heh

Gretchen Hanson -> see you all next week.

Gretchen Hanson -> nite all

Cassie Granger -> I see a very interesting and potentially hilarious negotiation.

Gretchen Hanson -> Can't wait.

Cassie Granger -> Night

Dvokr chim Hok -> Who's on Bolarus?

Cptn Ja'Lale -> Goodnight folks.

Dvokr chim Hok -> night
