"The Power of Beta"

Sorry about the delay to post this to that boards. I forgot too after I sent it out. ;)

Stepping out of the courtroom, Hewitt stepped into the turbolift. "Renc Wing," he said, and listened to the hum of the lift.

Standing in the Turbolift, daydreaming about nothing important (and off in his own little world), Hewitt got a sudden image of a woman. She appeared to be in her 20s, but he was unable to picture her again. He still had the afterimage in his head, but it had many missing areas that he could not fill in.

The image came to him again.

The turbolift door opened, revealing Main Engineering. "Computer, close door, and pause turbolift at this deck." The computer replied with a beep.

He began thinking of the image again, trying to fill in some of the missing areas of the face when the image came again. This time, Demore slid down the wall, and onto the floor.

He shook it off, and tried to stand back up, when the image hit him again. "Aaggg! What is it?!" he yelled.

A voice sounded in his head. "I'm an aquantance, and this is your sister."

Demore shook off the voice, trying to stand back up. This time, the image did not come back; but he was now able to picture the image in his head purely from memory.

The girl in the picture did look vaguely familiar, but Demore couldn't figure out what had happened.

Then it hit him. He thought to himself, "The Betazoid side." He was half Betazoid. But he wasn't telepathic, due to a childhood illness that was cureable, but did not allow his telepathic skills to gain.

But it still made him better able to receive telepathic waves. Someone must have sent him one; he had read about such happenings in reports from around the fleet. However, such events usually occured from people within a close proximity to each other.

He stepped out of the turbolift, and went over to a window in the Renc Wing. He saw 4 ships in the immediate vicinity of Aegis, and any one of them could be holding his "aquantance".

Then he thought: Could it really have been my sister? He didn't know.

Demore stepped over and picked up a PADD, typing in a message to Doctor Jones.

====

Doctor Jones:

I have recently had a telepathic experience. To my knowledge, the disease that I have ruined my chances of ever being telepathic now, or any time in the future. Is my information correct?

I don't need councelling; I'm not good with these kind of things. I would just like to know more about my... disease. Any information you - or one of your associates - have would be kindly appreciated.

Hewitt Demore

====

Demore set the PADD down, and went back to work. For the time being, his weird "spells" of telepaths had ceased.
