Medical Log

 

Sheepy sat in his chair behind his desk in the sickbay office. A slight grin was on his face as he watched an annoyed Dr. Images pace back and forth across the small room.

 

“It’s just so infuriating”, he railed, “Ayers questioning my judgement like that, not just my judgement but my capability.”

 

“Victor” Sheepy responded calmly trying to show how his British colleague was overreacting by leaps and bounds, “He’s working for the prosecution it’s his job to try to discredit you, if he didn’t he’d be in big trouble.”

 

“Trouble, schmouble, he was rude”, he said as he picked up his pace.

 

“Look Victor, I know this is not just about getting picked on by Commander Nick Ayers. What’s wrong?”

 

The doctor stopped his walk to nowhere. “Yeah, you’re right. It’s not.” He sighed “It’s just with this thing going on I haven’t had as much time in sickbay as I’d like to. This Brex situation for instance, how’s it going?”

 

“I’ve followed a few leads, I checked with Mr. Gabrel in science and we’re working on identifying and eliminating the source of the mineral robbing agent. I’ve sent Brex to his quarters to get some rest but I believe that this agent could not only affect minerals in Bolians but in other races. I’ve got all the doctors on staff to work with science on it.”

 

“I can’t believe it, a possible wide spread problem may just sweep the ship and instead of being on the frontlines helping to fight it, I’ve been sitting on my bum in the holodeck.”

 

“Mogg needs your help so you’re helping him.”

 

“Yes and being judged incompetent with giving psychological help”

 

“Why are you so annoyed about that?”

 

“Well you probably know I’ve been trying to get an official specialization in dealing with the mind ever since the particle problem and being a part of this case I thought could help me towards that goal. Well after this I’m not sure if I have any talent at that at all. I have a patient coming this very moment who wants a therapy session! I don’t know what to do. I mean what happens if this case smashes my reputation as a doctor?”

 

“Firstly you are acting paranoid, your reputation is not at stake with this, and secondly I know you’ve done a decent job with your diagnosis, trust yourself. Now about this officer, you seem a bit exhausted, do you want me to take him for you?”

 

“No, it’s alright. You’ve got plenty on your plate with the “mineral thief” situation. It shouldn’t be too bad. Thanks for the offer though chief.”

 

“No problem Victor, none of us can do everything on our own. Doctors aren’t supermen you know.”

 

“Oh don’t I know it, last night I was back on the sleeping meds.”

 

“Same nightmares?”

 

“Bingo”

 

Sheepy stood and walked over to Images at this revelation.

 

“Victor, that’s not good, the meds are only supposed to be a temporary fix. You may need some counselling yourself.”

 

“It’s alright Sheepy I’ve got control of the situation”

 

The sound of Ensign Nem entering sickbay paused the conversation for a moment as both looked towards the door.

 

“Are you sure?” Sheepy asked

 

“Trust me sir.” Victor replied with a grin. “Now if you’ll excuse me there’s someone in sickbay that needs some assistance.” He then left the office and met with Nem Tornis.

 

Sheepy had to stop himself from asking, “You or him doctor? You or him?”
